00:01Deutsche Bahn, Germany's national railway operator, has announced that it will ban alcohol consumption at all 5,400 of its

00:13The measure hopes to improve security and cleanliness for employees and passengers, although there will be exemptions, including for station
00:23bars and restaurants.
00:24Bans have already been introduced at 30 stations, among them in Cologne, Hamburg and Munich.
00:31In a statement, Deutsche Bahn CEO Evelyn Pala noted that an increase of violence has been observed when big amounts
00:39of alcohol are available,
00:41referring to a recent attack from an intoxicated passenger who attacked a member of security staff during a ticket check.
00:49People who felt the ban will be kicked out of stations and multiple offenders could be given a permanent ban
00:56from the premises.
00:57However, the measure won't apply on board trains.
