Thousands stranded as technical malfunction temporarily halts entire German railway network

Deutsche Bahn said its services were resuming “step by step” after an almost three hour outage which froze all of its operations nationwide.

00:02Germany's entire railway network came to a halt on Tuesday due to a problem with a
00:06communication system. The disruption left thousands of passengers stranded across the country.
00:12Trains were held at stations while travelers stood in long lines at information desks as
00:17they tried to figure out how to get to their next destinations.

00:27English and on the sign it said something completely in Deutsch.

00:39are still here waiting.
00:41After nearly two and a half hours after it first reported the outage the main national
00:46railway operator Deutschaban said the problem had been resolved. The company said there had been a
00:51nationwide problem with its communication system which is used for internal communication on the
00:56railway network. As compensation, Deutschaban said during the outage that it was giving taxi and hotel vouchers to passengers.
