We embrace the philosophy of easy, minimal, attainable dressing that most everyone can pull off in three looks. The word "normcore" gets thrown around so much these days, it's somewhat hard to escape it -- not that we're trying. We decided to head to the basic pieces that make up a good portion of any well-balanced closet. In three looks, we've made those nuts-and-bolts garments feel sharp and new again, proving that sometimes a two-piece denim look can be just as head-turning as crazy prints and bold colors.

00:10Today on Trend Takeout we're going to be kind of basic.
00:14This first look is super casual, it's a jeans and shirt look except it punches up those basics.
00:19So we're using mom jeans instead of skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans even,
00:23cuffing them at the bottom and pairing it with a men's button-down white shirt, rolling up the sleeves.
00:27It's these little styling details that make your look feel polished and purposeful.
00:33A basic look can feel luxe if instead of neutrals you mix black and blue and switch out your denim
00:38pieces for a pair in corduroy like these overalls.
00:40It makes it feel a little bit dressier and a little bit more special.
00:44A grout fit is my loving term for a totally grey outfit but usually refers to a sweatshirt and sweatpants
00:49combo.
00:50You can make it feel a little bit more non-basic however by playing with texture, tone and proportion and
00:54pairing it with dressy shoes.
00:57See, being basic ain't so bad, now you have three new ways to pull it off.
01:01See you next time.
