00:00The other thing that women do when they line their eyes is they open their mouth.
00:07Alright James, so there's one makeup look that I love but it is terrifying to me is liquid eyeliner.
00:13I don't know how to do it. I mess up. I want to look like sexy and kind of retro
00:17and I just look like Alice Cooper and it's not cute.
00:20I love Alice Cooper but liquid eyeliner is one of those really daunting things that overwhelms a lot of women.
00:25You are not alone. I want to show you how you can take it and own it and make it
00:29really easy.
00:30The thing you want to remember with eyeliner is placement is super important.
00:34A darker color is going to recess something or make something smaller or deeper.
00:37If you have very close set eyes you want to bring the darker color to the outer corners.
00:41If you have very wide set eyes you want to bring the darkest part and the boldest part to the
00:45inner corner.
00:46That's going to give you balance.
00:48My first trick that I love to do is I will take a very soft taupe eyeshadow or neutral eyeshadow.
00:55on a small angled brush or a liner brush and just draw in my line.
01:02The nice thing about taupe eyeshadow is it always looks like a natural shadow so no one is ever going
01:07to read it.
01:07You can make any mistake getting your shape with the taupe.
01:11If I had a different skin tone for someone who has medium or dark skin would it still be taupe?
01:16Taupe. From the lightest to the darkest skin, taupe is going to look like a natural shadow.
01:20Okay.
01:20Next I'm going to go in with my favorite black liner.
01:24And you could use a cream liner or a gel liner with a brush or something like a pen liner.
01:30I love a thicker, bolder pen because it's one swipe across the lash line.
01:34And then I just take it right along the lash line, tracing right over my eyeshadow line.
01:42And if you're worried that you don't have a perfect line, you can just go back in with your liner
01:47brush and just smooth it right out.
01:51Now I'm going to try to do this myself.
01:53This is where my anxiety comes in because I feel like I start out, I do little lines and then
01:59it just all falls apart.
02:01It's much easier to go in and just draw it across than it is to do those small strokes.
02:06Really?
02:06Because doing those small skippy strokes can really make the liner kind of catch.

02:26So all I'm going to do is just help you a little bit and build up the inner corner of
02:31the eyes so they're more even.

02:36You need to just let go of the fear and really practice makes perfect when it comes to eyeliner.
02:41It's a very easy look but a lot of women get so overwhelmed by it they're afraid to experiment.
