00:00The Selangor government has allocated RM40.5 million for flood mitigation works in high-risk areas under the Petaling Jaya

00:10State Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee Chairman Izam Hashim said the allocation will cover 39 projects to address frequent flash floods
00:20in urban areas.
00:21Of the total, RM20.1 million will fund 26 immediate measures, while RM20.4 million has been set aside for
00:3113 medium-term projects.
00:34Izam said some projects could be completed within six months, while others may take up to a year before improvements
00:41are seen.
00:42The 12 areas identified are Section 51A, Kampung Cempaka, and the FAS Tunnel Area near Jalan PJU1A given critical priority.
00:53The works include flood walls, flap gates, retention ponds, and the use of new technology such as eco-blocks from
01:00Germany.
01:02Petaling Jaya Mayor Zahri Samingon said MBPJ had also introduced measures to help traders affected by flash floods in April
01:11and May.
01:12These include alarm systems, drain water level detectors, facility upgrades, rent exemptions, and a 30% rent reduction for affected
01:22traders on Jalan 223 from July to December.
