00:00So, on this day, the Secretary has agreed that the law of the federal government will be pulled back in order to be better.

00:15Government spokesman Fahmy Fazil said the Cabinet has decided to retract the Urban Renewal Bill,

00:21adding that the proposed law would be retabled once improvements are made.

00:26Fahmy said the Cabinet decided to retract the bill after taking into account the concerns raised by MPs, ministers and friends from UMNO.

00:36The bill aims to redevelop old dilapidated housing areas to ensure the well-being of residents and sustainable urban development.

00:44Resistance to the bill from both the opposition and some in the government bloc, including Barisan Nacional and seven PKR MPs,

00:52prevented the bill from being passed during the last Dewan Rakyat meeting in August.

00:58Fahmy, who is also the Communications Minister, said Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Gormeng

01:04had received several recommendations from UMNO and almost all of them would be incorporated into the revised bill.

01:11Asked when the bill will be retabled,

01:14he said the Cabinet will leave it to the Attorney General's chambers to draft the new version.
