00:00You can try the Obama Family Chili at the Obama Presidential Center.
00:03Tafari's Kitchen, the center's all-day cafe, is the perfect place to grab a bite on your visit.
00:07Named after Tafari Campbell, the Obama's longtime personal chef, both at the White House and after,
00:11the restaurant is the heart of the center. Led by chef Cliff Frome in partnership with
00:15Bon Appetit Management Company, the menu was personally approved by President Obama
00:18and includes recipes from the family like this delicious turkey chili served with a side of
00:22cornbread. And Mrs. Robinson's Red Rice is spin on the rice that Michelle Obama's mother used to
00:26make. Featuring a touch of Tabasco, it had a bit of kick that I couldn't get enough of.
00:30Also on the menu are chef Tafari's famous ribs, which are served with a potato salad,
00:34as well as tons of other choices centered around familiar food options that are approachable to
00:38any visitor, something that was particularly important to President Obama. After lunch,
00:41you can work off the meal with a walk around the premises, which include a fruit and vegetable
00:44garden from which the restaurant gathers herbs and produce. There's also beehives and a teaching
00:48kitchen to make the most of the growing garden. There's also a playground, a sports center,
00:52and a branch of the Chicago Public Library, and plenty of spots to relax. Of course,
00:56the crown jewel is a museum which houses tons of contemporary artworks, as well as memorabilia
01:00and special moments from the Obama presidency. If you're willing to brave the line, you can even
01:04take a photo in the Oval Office. When you've wrapped up at the museum, you can head back down
01:07to Tafari's to enjoy a glass of wine, beer, or your cocktail of choice.
