00:21China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration
00:25presented a new development plan for the sector during the period of 2026 to 2030.
00:34As part of the country's 15 five-year plan,
00:38the document sets the goal of increasing China's forest coverage to nearly 26% by 2030,
00:48raising forest reserves to more than 22 billion cubic meters
00:54and expanding the forestry and grassland industry to around 14 trillion yuan,
01:01the equivalent to nearly 2 trillion dollars.
01:05Among the priorities are major reforestation projects,
01:10especially in the northwest, north and northeast China,
01:14regions that have been affected for decades by desertification and land degradation.
01:20The plan also includes strengthening protected areas, building national parks,
01:27protecting wetlands and carryout conservation programs for 165 critical and dangerous species of wild animals and plants.
01:40In addition, Beijing aims to promote an economy linked to natural resources,
01:47combining environment protection with new opportunities for development.
