00:02For Kiana Elliott, lifting weights is an indescribable achievement.
00:07You can execute a movement that you've done a thousand times before that you know just like a pattern in
00:12your mind and somehow it ends up above your head.
00:15She's been a weightlifter for about 13 years and over that time she's seen more women and girls take up
00:21the sport.
00:22It's really, really cool to see the standard change.
00:24I think it's a great thing to be involved in. There's nothing better than pursuing your own strength and pursuing
00:29your own capability.
00:30She's about to test her own capability at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
00:34There's a little bit of a seed planted in my head. The Olympic Games was something I wanted to do.
00:38I was three years old when Sydney 2000 was on.
00:40She placed fourth in Birmingham four years ago after suffering an injury just two months before the competition.
00:46I lifted about 94% of my best and that was good enough for fourth. So that left a little
00:54bit of fire in me.
00:57She's probably one of the most technically good weightlifters in Australia.
01:00Weightlifting is one of ten sports to feature at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games this year.
01:05It's a reduced schedule of events after Victoria pulled out of hosting the competition.
01:10Kiana is looking forward to what she can achieve.
01:12I think I'm ready to have a good shot and a good fight with a bunch of really great athletes.
01:17And now, I'm going to check if you're gonna have some other gadgets.
01:19We'll never see you guys in the next fall.
