01:56so Mexican culture always means a lot to me.
02:00I have many Mexican friends from my days back then,
02:03and I love visiting Mexico.
02:05I've had the good chance to go to several places in Mexico,
02:08and it's always a good time, and the people are wonderful.
02:12The culture is so vivid and beautiful.
02:14So I'm happy to be a champion of that.
02:19I loved Benito's message about, you know,
02:23at the Super Bowl when he went through all the countries
02:25and all the Americas.
02:26It was like, that's who we all are.
02:28We're all part of this whole group, and let's celebrate that.
02:33Olivia, you mentioned before that during the first season,
02:36you had like a pivotal moment where John, I believe it was,
02:40told you you got this while you were filming season one.
02:45So coming into season two, how did that vote of confidence
02:50change your approach, if it did, to your character?
02:54It really did.
02:56You know, having someone who you're acting opposite,
03:01especially when it's somebody like Jon Hamm,
03:04who I respect so much,
03:07like give me that vote of confidence when I was so nervous
03:10getting back into acting after being away from it for five years,
03:15four years.
03:16But I just, it just, it really has carried me through,
03:19and I have, I believe in myself a lot more.
03:22I was wondering, who has been that for you?
03:24Have you had that moment where you, you know,
03:26you needed just a little push, a little word to help you out,
03:29and who was that person for you?
03:31I've had many people in my life be that person for me.
03:34Mostly my teachers growing up.
03:36But, but, you know, nobody gets to this place in their career
03:39without a tremendous amount of people helping,
03:42whether they're teachers or parents or,
03:43or even colleagues and friends along the way.
03:47You know, I'm, I'm not, I'm not ignorant of that.
03:51I think that there are so, it takes a village as somebody once said,
03:55you know, and it's, I always think that making any kind of television show
04:01or film is a team effort and it doesn't work without everybody on the team
04:05working toward the same goal.
04:07So I was happy to be able to, to be that person for Olivia in that moment.
04:12Obviously it's, it's such a vulnerable place to be when you're trying to do
04:16something and you don't know if it's working and it's new and you're,
04:19maybe your confidence isn't there or something.
04:22So we've all been there.
04:24So it was, I was, I didn't know that she felt that way in the moment,
04:28but I was happy to do it for her.
04:30James, you played so many iconic and charming characters throughout your career
04:34where like audiences like immediately root for you.
04:38So I was wondering going into this series with, with a character that actually uses charm
04:44for his benefit.
04:45How is that for you to lean into the darker side of being the charm,
04:50the charming guide of the, of the neighborhood in the series?
04:53Oh, that's a really interesting viewpoint.
04:55Yeah.
04:55I, good question.
04:57Um, yeah, I, I, maybe I never really thought that Owen uses his charm deliberately
05:05to manipulate.
05:07Um, there are moments in the, in the, in the season where you see,
05:11uh, him sort of wield his charm sword.
05:15Um, but, um, I think he's just a guy who's so unaware of himself of,
05:19uh, I think he's, I don't think he thinks he's that bad of a guy.
05:24Um, so I think his charm is, is, um, um, heartfelt.
05:30I think it's, it's genuine, but, um, but yeah, I think, uh, yeah,
05:34it's just, maybe that's what excited me about it was like just taking something
05:38you've done before and, and putting a twist on it.
05:40And you definitely get to exercise that in this story and this season.
05:45Uh, he's a wild character.
05:47Um, and you just don't know what else he's got up his sleeve,
05:50which is a fun thing to play.
05:51I also have to talk to you about, uh, the way memes work is so wild.
05:55Uh, especially when a scene goes viral with a music that wasn't even there
06:00when you filmed it.
06:01So, uh, my question for, uh, for you is have you ever had a moment,
06:05I bet, especially this one where in your career where, uh,
06:09you just saw what people were obsessing about over online and thought,
06:12really, is that the thing you were talking about?
06:15Well, okay.
06:17There've been a couple.
06:18I mean, there've been, this is certainly one of them.
06:20I, I, I, I had forgotten that that wasn't even the music that they were,
06:24that was playing in the, in the scene.
06:32Whoever put those two things together, that was the, that was the magic.
06:36I was actually talking to our creator last night about it.
06:38And I was like, I want to know who the very first person was to do it.
06:42And he had actually kind of done a deep dive and it's not confirmed as this person,
06:46but because there's new music, like you had mentioned it w like it, the, um, the, uh,
06:54the, the producer behind that song or the singer was, I think the first person to kind of lay that
06:59in,
07:00which is so great because his, his music just skyrocketed for the, for John's meme.
07:04You know, that John meme, it wasn't the music that we had on the show.
07:07Oh, somebody else laid in that music.
07:09And that song became really iconic for that meme.
07:12And a lot of people were doing it.
07:13And that's kind of how like he like kind of exploded that song for him.
07:17I had no idea that this thing was even happening.
07:20You didn't know about this?
07:21Well, I knew a little bit about it, but it was like a clip of him dancing or something.
07:24And, but I didn't know it was something that was viral.
07:27I need to show you later.
07:28I'm just reading my books.
07:30Oh my gosh.
07:31He's just a, an artist at heart.
07:33He doesn't have time for social media.
07:35For Matt, Mad Men had its fair share of, of memorable lines and moments and clips and things like that.
07:41And, and not all of them were even with me.
07:43I mean, I could think of, of Pete Campbell saying not great, Bob and, and Betty shooting the pigeons in
07:49the backyard.
07:49There's, there've been plenty of moments.
07:51So that's the great thing about television.
07:53It provides us with these kinds of communal moments that when we all see them, they, they strike us in
07:58a way that maybe doesn't even relate to the moment in the, in the show.
08:01It just has its own life.
08:02And this, this example was certainly one of those.
