00:00I'm in front of the Los Angeles courtroom where Tuesday morning the singer known as David appeared
00:06for the beginning of his preliminary hearing. Some gruesome evidence was shown to the gallery,
00:12which included the victim's family. Afterwards, DA Nathan Hockman took to the mics.
00:19This preliminary hearing will last approximately three to five days, at which point
00:25we will be seeking to hold David to answer for three felony counts of which he has been charged.
00:32First-degree murder with special circumstances, the count of lewd and lascivious acts with a 13-year-old,
00:40and the count of mutilation of human remains. David will be facing a maximum punishment of life
00:46without the possibility of parole, or he is also death penalty eligible. The decision on whether
00:53or not to seek the death penalty has not been made at this point. At the end of the presentation
00:58of
00:58all this evidence, the question will be, will David be held to answer on the three felony charges?
01:05We believe we will more than accomplish the evidentiary burden of probable cause at this point
01:12to hold David to answer on these three felony charges. At that point, if the judge does hold
01:19them to answer, we will file an information that will detail the actual three criminal charges.
01:27Thereafter, there will be a trial date that will be set, and David, if he so chooses,
01:31will proceed to trial. And we will prove at that point, beyond a reasonable doubt,
01:37that David committed these three crimes.
