00:01Yeah, hello.
00:02What's going on, Kenny?
00:03Well, we got not great news.
00:06Not great news for everybody.
00:09What do you mean?
00:11So last night, I actually got this from a listener.
00:15I woke up to Twitter and I went, oh boy.
00:17Social media reactions on X are brought to you by...
00:20Chyven Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:22Martin McSports, who we've met in person.
00:24Very nice person, by the way.
00:27He writes, are you bleeping kidding me?
00:29And I go, oh God, what is this?
00:30It says, Heat say LeBron press conference link posted by mistake.
00:36This is amazing.
00:37Oh boy.
00:39So this came out at 12.15 a.m. overnight.
00:43Miami Heat posted a link to a scheduled live stream titled
00:47LeBron James introductory press conference,
00:51which the date was July 27th.
00:55So this is in the future.
00:56All right.
00:57The future.
00:57On their YouTube channel.
00:59Their team spokesman has already said it was a mistake.
01:03Sham Sharanya talked to the person.
01:07They said it's a mistake.
01:08The post was later deleted.
01:11Heat president, Pat Riley said last week,
01:13he had newly acquired superstar.
01:15Yanis Antetokounmpo would welcome James to Miami.
01:18Be funny if Pat Riley was the webmaster.
01:21You think he knows how to work computers?
01:23This is what he's been doing the whole time.
01:25Learning.
01:25Is he in his 80s?
01:26He's got to be in his 80s.
01:27Learning how to code.
01:28Yeah.
01:29That's what he's been doing.
01:30This is the last act of Pat Riley's career.
01:33What was the commercial with the waitress who was dancing about the new,
01:38remember the education, education connection?
01:41That's what he went.
01:41He went to education connection and learned how to code.
01:43That's what he did.
01:45I didn't expect this to be the way we would find out about LeBron.
01:48I don't know about you.
01:49We were talking about past unveilings.
01:51You know, who would have thought it would be a leak to a website?
01:57Who hit the Miami Eats?
01:58Well, let me ask you, because it's a short article.
02:00I mean, it's only a few paragraphs.
02:01They're like, eh, it's a mistake.
02:04What do you think of this?
02:05Because it's definitely going to raise the antennas.
02:07People are going to wake up.
02:08They're going to see this.
02:08They ain't going to be happy.
02:09You know that.
02:10Well, it's so funny.
02:11I didn't wake up to the news of this leak.
02:16I woke up to the debunking of the leak.
02:18Oh.
02:19Well, that's technically what I woke up to, yeah.
02:21Yeah, of people saying this is hilarious.
02:24This is, you know, a stunt by Miami or it's incompetence.
02:29Oh, it's a stunt. Tell me more.
02:29Well, it could be incompetence, yeah.
02:31Or it's something that, let's say, LeBron had made up his mind
02:34and it really was going to be Miami, but he was going to share it his way.
02:38And then some idiots screwed up and allowed the cat to get out of the bag like this.
02:44Then maybe LeBron could actually back out of it.
02:48Can you imagine losing LeBron to a gaff like that?
02:52Is it?
02:52Okay, what's the conspiracy theory you heard?
02:54Because I just thought of something and I want to throw it by you.
02:57The conspiracy?
02:58Yeah, you said there was conspiracy or it was a, what did you say?
03:01The word you just used.
03:03I could not fall asleep last night, so we're rolling a little rough here right now.
03:07So go right on ahead.
03:09No, it was either that this was just a team that was preparing like all teams.
03:18Like I can tell you, the Cavs have prepared.
03:20Well, yeah, of course, but you used the word stunt.
03:22That's what made me think of conspiracy.
03:23That it was a stunt by, you know how many times, especially just look to over the years,
03:29the people that have run social media accounts for these sports teams that just one off entry
03:35level dude who has access just thought they would be funny or had a few too many drinks
03:40and went and they lost their job.
03:43Like, cause they're not, they're not, they're just not experienced enough.
03:46They don't understand the gravity.
03:48Well, they always want you to take chances and be funny, but not too many chances and not
03:52too funny for a 21 year old recent college graduate.
03:56That's a little bit difficult to put on them.
03:59So like when the Falcons messed up a couple of years ago with us, and I know we had like
04:03a barb with the Cardinals or whatever, like it, it tends to get a little bit tight there.
04:08My kids, you want to know my conspiracy?
04:10I did think of, I was driving, cause it's a, it's a decent enough drive in.
04:13I can think of a lot of things.
04:15My conspiracy was.
04:20It still doesn't hold a lot of water, but let me throw it out there.
04:25Do they put it out there and just be like, think about that introductory press conference
04:29you had years ago in 2010.
04:32We could have the same thing.
04:34Cause it's in the news.
04:35He will hear about this.
04:36If he hasn't made his decision, he'll hear about the news.
04:39There's just something to make you go, Hey, if you're still thinking, if you're really
04:43still considering, just imagine what it would be like to come back and be with Pat, even
04:50though there's no, but there's no, but the family had lots of buffers.
04:52There's no buffer here with Dwayne Wade, but it'd be Pat Riley, him, Eric Spolster, the
04:58bands back together in certain ways.
05:00And now there's Giannis Antetokounmpo.
05:03I, I don't really wonder.
05:06It's just one of those silly conspiracy theories that I just, I want to say it just in case
05:11it ends up being right.
05:13Cause it's like, okay, if he does pick the heat and then he has an introductory press
05:16conference, like, you know, it was really, I started thinking about what it was like
05:19in 2010 and that, that weird story that, that posted and then got deleted about me having
05:24my introductory press conference.
05:26And I just want to be on the record in case it's right.
05:28Even though I don't think it holds very much water whatsoever.
05:31Well, it was great.
05:32Yesterday was one of the, I'd say four days out of it's been 21 days total.
05:37Yeah, I think.
05:38And out of the four days, there's been four days where people started contacting me going
05:44could be today here.
05:45And it's today.
05:45Oh, I'm here.
05:46And it's today.
05:47And now the day is over.
05:49Yeah.
05:49What's going on, Pat Beverly.
05:50And all we got was a leak.
05:52And then Kendrick Perkins, he's been kind of interesting throughout this.
05:56And he, at one point, he even had made a pitch for Cleveland, although I think he's made
05:59a pitch for every team at some point during the 21 days.
06:02I will tell you, he somehow gets my attention all the time.
06:04As much as I go, he don't watch the games.
06:06He has passes.
06:07I think he actually falls asleep at times.
06:09Probably.
06:11He does find a way to get my attention just about every time he speaks.
06:15It was great.
06:16Gotta give him credit for that.
06:17Because he had made it sound like that LeBron had changed his mind at one point during the
06:22process, which would mean that he was okay with a team's plan of attack and then was not
06:32okay with their plan of attack and roster building to try to build the best team that LeBron could
06:39possibly play on here.
06:40Can you imagine, whoever it is, obviously that would be a disaster if he had committed
06:47to the Cavs and then relented for whatever reason, but that would be a disaster to whichever
06:52team.
06:53And these teams can all lie all they want.
06:54We're going to find out.
06:55We are definitely going to find out who is seriously in play here.
07:01Yeah.
07:01Um, it's very, it's just, it's, it again, and I'll explain more at six 20, it's becoming
07:11a bit arduous, is it not?
07:13And I do think like every day I open up the internet and I'm seeing less and less, like
07:18eventually you're going to start moving on with your life.
07:21And eventually there's other sports stories.
07:23Like last week, you had the all-star game.
07:26So today is Wednesday.
07:27So yet yesterday or last week at this time, it was the deadest time in sports.
07:30I think, what was it?
07:31The SVs last week at this time, that's always the bottom of the sports counter.
07:35Well, now it's starting up again.
07:36Like we got rookies, we got intrigue about quarterbacks now.
07:40Like we're kind of get the guardians of one another one in a nice convincing fashion.
07:45They're back in first place.
07:46They're 500 since Jose Ramirez's injury, getting ready to get Jose back, getting ready to get
07:51on how Martinez back, getting ready for a run.
07:53Like there's lots of other things that we're starting to get into here.
07:58And if you want to strike while the iron's hot and make sure every spotlight's on you.
08:02I know it's LeBron.
08:03There's a gravitational pull.
08:05So there's going to be every spotlight on you again.
08:07But there is a timing effort to this to maximize everything you want.
08:12So if you can get every single eyeball you can, that's fine.
08:15And I think over three weeks, the nonstop willy or won'ty, the nonstop what do you hear?
08:23What do you say?
08:24I think it takes its toll on people to the point it's like, you know, eventually it's
08:29like, well, if you don't make your decision, sir, we're just going to have to move on without
08:31you.
08:32Not, not like the cab.
08:34I think the cabs always be open, but I mean like the everyday conversation.
08:39It has to relent at some point.
08:41Like the cabs are going to leave a spot open for him that that's not the whole thing.
08:44Like I'd be shocked if they were like, you know what?
08:47We're not in the LeBron business anymore.
08:49That would be crazy and unrealistic, but in leading the show with LeBron every day, like
08:55this is a breaking thing that happened overnight.
08:57Yeah.
08:58Jeff led with it.
09:00Well, he had to, I mean, this is, this is hard news, but this isn't going to happen every
09:05night.
09:05At least I don't think so.
09:06Unless you want the calves in the news and go ahead and fire off some fake introductory press
09:10conference post if you want to.
09:11I don't care.
09:11Now let me ask, Owen, you're listening to Ken today.
09:15Can we tell, cause he seems on other days.
09:17I will talk more about this at 623.
09:18I'm not getting into it now.
09:20Well, Ken seems like there have been other days where he was more annoyed with how he's
09:24been inconvenienced.
09:25Where would you say our Ken inconvenience tracker is today?
09:29When have I been inconvenienced?
09:31His inconvenience tracker is at what level today?
09:35Bravo.
09:36Bravo.
09:36Oh boy.
09:38What's Bravo?
09:39I don't know.
09:40It's like, help me.
09:42Defcon 2.
09:44On a scale of five Defcons.
09:46One's the highest though, right?
09:47Which Defcon is this?
09:48I'm not that annoyed.
09:49I thought you were pretty annoyed yesterday.
09:51Well, wait a minute.
09:52Annoyed is different from inconvenience.
09:53I will give you, uh, I'll give you this, Ken.
09:56You're not the only one on the station annoyed by it.
10:01It's been a few other people and Anthony's not the only one noticing the annoyance and I'm
10:06not the only one noticing the annoyance.
10:08Here's the annoyed and the noticers.
10:11I am not waiting on pins and needles the way I was.
10:13I am not sitting here just wanting that type of information, needing that type of information.
10:18It's like, I'm going to be less excited about LeBron being here because of this.
10:22I'm running out of steam on the caring about where he's going to play.
10:26And we got football practices coming up here.
10:28We got baseball that's back in full swing after the all-star break.
10:32Like, let's go.
10:32You can only care about these things for so long before you go, okay, either make your
10:37decision or you don't.
10:38Like, I do think there is a law of diminishing returns here.
10:41And he's flirting with not striking while the iron's hot.
10:44With love and respect to...
10:45Ken's life is just football practices.
10:47Yeah.
10:47Well, no, and it's baseball.
10:49I forgot the five hours of baseball they talked this morning.
10:52Yeah.
10:53And I said, this baseball, like Guardian season is holding us up for that five minutes of
10:57the show we talk about the Guardians.
10:59I don't even know if he meant his kids' practices or, like, the Browns' practices.
11:02I really don't even know which one he meant there.
11:04I just...
11:04Thoughts and prayers to Jake, Jeff, and Ken's families.
11:07They're just so...
11:08They're so besieged by the amount of...
11:11The amount of things I have to do with waiting for LeBron.
11:14Oh, no.
11:15That is annoying.
11:17Is it not annoying?
11:19I'm the only one...
11:20So, Jeff, me, and Jake are the only ones who are annoyed.
11:24I do feel like I just continue my life, and then if he announces it, he announces it.
11:29Yeah, I don't think it's changed my life in any way.
11:32It hasn't.
11:32Not for me.
11:33But it seems like Ken is more worried about the day that it happens because then that
11:38day he becomes inconvenienced.
11:40But that would have happened any day.
11:41That would have happened the day after he left L.A.
11:44So, that's not a variable in this.
11:46That's the one thing that's a constant.
11:48I just don't want to let the kids know.
11:50I have an obligation to the children.
11:52I'd like to thank them for listening.
11:54They hang on our every word.
11:56Tell you that.
11:57We have some loyal listeners I didn't know.
11:59They're not as loyal as that.
12:01This was just one specific time in their show.
12:04I flipped in four times yesterday.
12:07And this theme was throughout the hours coming up.
12:10Yeah.
12:10But we're all in on LeBron, right?
12:14Everybody...
12:14Not everybody, but those two are sitting there commenting on my comments on this.
12:18But we're all in on LeBron.
12:20Nobody's...
12:21Nobody's bored or annoyed that it's taking this long.
12:26Oh, and I'd like to thank you for putting that together because that is case and point.
12:31It is only natural.
12:33And I mean this sincerely.
12:34Like, Keith has been sideways with me on it.
12:36And it's like, guys, like, I'm...
12:38I'm not going to fake it for anybody.
12:40If I'm passionate about something, I'm going to be passionate about it.
12:42But I tell you guys all the time, and we do this during football season too, when the
12:46Browns are going to end up sucking up the room, like, there comes a point where I'm like,
12:50I'm not going to come in on a Browns Monday and sit there and scream and yell and get
12:55red-faced over something stupid that they do.
12:58Because eventually you just come to go, yep, this group ain't going to work.
13:01We got to move on to the next group.
13:03Like, that's the way life goes.
13:05That's the way life goes.
13:06And when you take an inordinate amount of time to make a decision, it is the human nature
13:16to consider other things.
13:19It's human nature to go, it's taken this long.
13:23Maybe they're not choosing me.
13:25Maybe they're not coming here.
13:27I'm going to choose.
13:29I'm going to start thinking about...
13:30You don't...
13:30It's not even like you make the conscious choice that now I'm going to start thinking
13:35about it is your natural human reaction to think about life without somebody.
13:40I hate to keep using the relationship analogy, but it's like, hey, man, if you can't decide
13:43who to go to prom with, I'm going to start thinking about going with other people.
13:47I still would like to go to prom with you, but I'm going to still think about going with
13:50other people.
13:51Hopefully they won't do in the woodshop with what my one date did when I was in high school,
13:55but that's a different conversation for a different day.
13:58That's something that Nick and Jonathan could reference later on if they want to.
14:01You can go ahead and guess about what happened there.
14:04You're going to start thinking about other options, and it's...
14:09I'm frustrated for the thought of, I'm not the only one who sees this.
14:12Like, yes, he's a legend.
14:13Yes, he's an icon.
14:14All these things are going to happen.
14:15The jersey retirement, the statues, all of it.
14:18He's also 41.
14:20This is also the end of his career.
14:22This is not 2014 again.
14:25They will have better odds to win an NBA championship, but I got to tell you guys, I'm not planning
14:31a parade.
14:32The league's different.
14:33He's different.
14:34They're all different.
14:35I'm not planning a championship parade.
14:37I think our chances become better, but it's still going to be a gauntlet, and he's still
14:42of an advanced age.
14:44And one of your other main players is a little close to over the hill as well.
14:50So, excuse me for not being so focused, and, oh, I got to know when LeBron's doing every
14:57damn moment of the damn day, or I'm just not going to be able to handle it anymore.
15:01No, this isn't 2014 again.
15:03Yeah, but when the, see, here's where I disagree, but when the available other options that you're
15:08going to hear about are Ben Matherin.
15:10Oh, I know they're not good options.
15:11And Jonathan Kaminga.
15:12I know that.
15:12No, I'm not even saying that.
15:14I'm not saying good options now.
15:15I'm just saying, hey, you know what?
15:17He didn't come here.
15:18We're going to pack it in.
15:19I know some people are going to be upset.
15:21We're going to pack it in, pack it up, get ready for next season, and we're going to go
15:24into next season with what we have, and maybe there will be some available options at the
15:28trade deadline.
15:29It's still, I've said it, I've meant it, you've said it, you've meant it, it's still
15:33a good team.
15:34Now, you've watched the Cavs, and I've watched the Cavs, can't say the same about everybody
15:39else on the station if we're taking swings at each other here.
15:42We know it's a good team, and they're still good.
15:46They're better with LeBron, but they're still good.
15:49So it's not this end-all, be-all to me the way it was.
15:54I'd like for him to come back.
15:56It'd be great for him to come back.
15:57It's a great story, and it's not like I'm not going to talk about the guy.
16:02For the rest of my career, his name has been said on this station more than any other name,
16:06probably by tenfold, and that includes some names, and we talk a lot of Browns here, for
16:12crying out loud.
16:14It's not like it's going to be out of sight.
16:15He's going to be out of sight on the mind for the rest of my life.
16:17It's just like, guys, I don't understand why I'm getting ripped for going, hey, come
16:22on, just make your decision.
16:22Let's get going here.
16:24What are we waiting around here for?
16:26Rick Buecher has a point.
16:27You don't have it the way you had it when you were 28 years old.
16:30This is a great storybook ending.
16:32It'd be great to have you back.
16:34But damn, Sam, we've got to get going here.
16:36If you ain't going to get going, then I've got to think about other options.
16:39And my main option is just running it back into next year, which is a horrible option for a lot
16:44of folks,
16:44but it's better than blowing the damn thing up or making a terrible trade that really is going to help
16:50you.
16:50Well, I'll tell you what I really wonder is if we found out that LeBron backed out that it was
16:56going to be the Cavs
16:57and then backed out because of, I don't think it'd be cold feet.
17:02I think it would be something that the Cavs maybe thought they could assemble and then were unable to for
17:08whatever reason.
17:09I wonder what the backlash would be.
17:13There'd be immediate backlash for LeBron, obviously.
17:16This is going to be like, oh, what a tease.
17:19This was going to be such a storybook year, potentially.
17:24The season ticket holders were going to throw their money at the Cavs for a final season.
17:31There was going to be a documentary.
17:32We are going to be nostalgic all season long.
17:36And then they were still going to be really good.
17:38So can you imagine when April comes around and the playoffs start, like how amazing that could be?
17:43The 35 national TV games, the Christmas, the this, the that.
17:48And then to have the rug pulled out underneath them like that for a fan.
17:55And then having him finish his season and they're going to film a documentary in Philadelphia or Miami.
18:02Like it's a little different.
18:03I do have to make this clear.
18:06In 2014, it was about winning a championship, ending the streak, finding your rightful place as the legend of legends.
18:16This is about ending your career and ending your career the right way.
18:21And I do think it's more end the career for if we're being realistic about it, guys, it's end the
18:26career right way the first and then try to win a championship second.
18:30I mean, that's the realism here.
18:31Now, it's not in his world.
18:33I'm sure he wants to win a championship.
18:34He should want to win a championship.
18:36But I have to look at the odds.
18:37I have to look at the West.
18:38I have to look at the other teams.
18:40And I would say we're going to be a much happier group of people if we do it my way
18:45than it is the other way.
18:47Because if he doesn't choose here, like, yeah, he's going to try to win a championship, but you're going to
18:52have this ceremony every single night of where you go.
18:55Okay, that's great.
18:57But I just, I like, my phone's lighting up again.
19:00I'm sure it's Keith.
19:01Because the Wizard of Oz is so worked up about this, about this topic.
19:05And I'm going, I can only give so much emotion.
19:09I know I'm an emotional person.
19:10And I know he loves to wind me up.
19:12And I know that a lot of people, when I, it's amazing.
19:14The days I say I'm not going to cuss you out and get all crazy, I will get cussed out
19:18on the internet going, do it.
19:19Come on, clown.
19:20Do it.
19:21Entertain me.
19:22Give me what I want.
19:23Yelling at you.
19:23And most of the time I do.
19:26But I am, guys, I'm out of new things to say.
19:28We're all out of it.
19:29I'm sorry.
19:29Like, you hear some of these, these Cavs writers that come on.
19:32What have they said that's different?
19:34What have they said?
19:35I heard.
19:35We've actually had a few that said they wouldn't come on anymore because they didn't want to speculate.
19:38Exactly.
19:40That's what John and I have talked about in our post-show stuff.
19:42It's like, who do you even book right now who's going to say anything different than what's been said for
19:47three weeks?
19:48Yes.
19:48Yes.
19:49Yes.
19:49And you're right.
19:50And John's right.
19:52Because I'm sorry.
19:53I've listened to a couple of Cavs writers, a couple of NBA writers as well.
19:57I'm not even taking shots at anybody there.
20:00That's not what I'm trying to even do.
20:01That's everyone in basketball.
20:02That's everyone in basketball where they're not saying anything new.
20:05And I understand it's hard because they're, like, if you were, like, if you were Brian Windhorst or something, all
20:11right, you got a hit coming up at 643 on SportsCenter.
20:14What do you want me to say?
20:15I don't know.
20:15I'd be able to find a way, a different way to say the same thing than what you did last
20:18time because we got to keep it interesting.
20:20Like, there's nothing else to say.
20:22So, I got to wait for the guy to make his decision.
20:25And if there's nothing else to say, then I'm going to start saying things about other things.
20:29Like, the Cavs, other than LeBron.
20:32Like, the Browns and their quarterback controversy and their head coach where I got to tell you, if we're talking
20:37about interesting stuff, I thought it was a great question that was talked about yesterday with Nick and John.
20:42And then about the amount of blowback that Todd Munkin might have if he were to decide that Deshaun Watson
20:47was a starting quarterback, considering the amount of blowback that they got for holding back Shador Sanders last year on
20:52that Browns coaching staff.
20:54That's something of substance.
20:55Because this is just, it just exists now.
20:58You haven't made your decision.
21:00We have to move on with life.
21:02It's that simple.
21:04And this story with the heat coming out about, well, you know, they posted a link to the press conference.
21:09Okay, that's new.
21:10But I'll tell you guys this right now.
21:12It is perfectly explainable that they accidentally hit the send on that.
21:16Because I'll tell you guys right now.
21:18It is.
21:18I've been saying a lot of things I'll tell you right now.
21:20Let me tell you right now.
21:23Now, I'm not trying to say anything out of school here.
21:26But I know for a fact, somewhere, there is a stack of press releases over at 76 Lugroza, of trades
21:34that never happened, of draft picks that were never made.
21:38They got to get ready for these things.
21:40I wish that one trade was in that stack, but here we are.
21:44There is a list since 99.
21:46I'm serious.
21:47There's a file of these things that just never happened because they got to be ready for it.
21:54Little rumors, little innuendo, little things that are said, they're just there.
22:00So it's not just the heat.
22:01It's every franchise in pro sports.
22:04They got to be ready for these things.
22:06And maybe some kid made a mistake and hit send on the website.
22:12Or maybe someone was trying to be stupid and hit send on the website.
22:16And that's probably the biggest possibility here.
22:20But we'll see.
22:22Okay, end of that story.
22:24What else can I drum about LeBron that hasn't been said 30,000 times over the last three weeks?
22:31Hell, I'm more upset about getting called out for not caring than I care about LeBron.
22:36Well, you do care.
22:37Of course I care about LeBron.
22:39You would not be spending even this much time if you just flat out didn't care about LeBron.
22:43Of course I care about LeBron.
22:44Yes, I want him to come and I want him to be on this team.
22:47I want him to finish his career the right way.
22:48And I want there to be a nice storybook ending.
22:50And I want them to try to win a championship.
22:52But even if they don't, this is the best case scenario if you don't win a championship.
22:55It's still the best case.
22:57And if he doesn't see that by now over three weeks, then I guess I will get to him.
23:01Okay, fine.
23:02Do it your way.
23:02You've always done it your way.
23:03That's okay.
23:05That's fine.
23:05I mean, well, Kenny, it's like, yeah, it's only natural to care less about things over time.
23:12We move through a news cycle.
23:14Look at some of the stories that have gone on over the last year.
23:16They were the biggest thing going for two weeks.
23:18And then something else happens.
23:19And you totally forget about it.
23:20Sores B.
23:21Yeah.
23:23Malik Willis.
23:23Malik Willis, we argued tooth and nail every single day.
23:26And they're like, yeah, there's arguments to be made that their quarterback room is the worst of the NFL.
23:30It's not.
23:31But there's arguments to be made.
23:33And I go, we fought tooth and nail over one of the guys who were part of one of the
23:35worst quarterback rooms in all the NFL.
23:37Think about the storyline.
23:38Think about general news for crying out loud.
23:40I think we had four Kyler Murray days.
