Milford Haven School student found not guilty of attempted murder of teacher

A pupil has been found not guilty of attempted murder after stabbing his teacher in the head with a kitchen knife. The incident took place at Milford Haven Comprehensive School on February 5, where the 16-year-old boy, followed teacher Vicki Williams into an empty classroom under the pretense of needing help with his history work.
He then pulled a knife from his bag and lunged at her. Williams described the harrowing moment at Swansea Crown Court when the boy lunged at her with the knife, stating that she feared for her life.
She told the court that the attack came out of noweher, and she believed she was about to die, thinking: "I'm fearful that I am dying, I've seen the knife, I know I've been stabbed, all I'm thinking at that point is, 'I need help'."
Although he was found guilty of wounding with intent and unlawful wounding, he had previously pleaded guilty to possessing a knife on school grounds.
The attack left Williams with serious injuries, and she recounted the chilling look of "pure hatred" on the boy's face during the incident. The court heard that he brought the knife to school as part of a "game" with friends but denied any intention of using it violently.
On Monday, July 20, he was found not guilty of attempted murder but guilty of wounding with intent, and unlawful wounding.
Judge Paul Thomas KC accepted a majority verdict on the charge of wounding with intent, which meant at least 10 jurors agreed following four hours deliberation.
The boy will be sentenced on September 3.
