00:00This was an incredibly distressing incident, which not only resulted in three people being physically harmed,
00:07but it also had a profound impact on the well-being of pupils who were present at the time.
00:13We wish them well as they continue to recover from an incident that they should never have had to witness,
00:20especially at such a young age.
00:23School should be a safe place, a sanctuary for pupils that attend there,
00:29and weapons have absolutely no place within their grounds.
00:33We will not tolerate any attempt to compromise the safety of children or staff,
00:39and as demonstrated here, we will act swiftly on the very rare occasion that this is put at risk.
00:47I would like to thank all my emergency services colleagues who attended and responded on the day,
00:53along with the teachers and staff at Ysgol Dyffrin Amman for the way in which they dealt with the incident,
00:59to Carmarthenshire County Council and the local community for the support that they offered to the pupils at the school.
01:07Now that criminal proceedings have come to an end, I ask that we let life at Ysgol Dyffrin Amman get back to normal
01:14so that pupils can settle into the school year and focus on their education.
01:19Diolch yn fawr.
