00:00President Trump's media company is pitching Wall Street firms up to $100,000 a month
00:05for a faster feed of the president's Truth Social posts.
00:08The advantage is measured in milliseconds.
00:11Here's what's happening.
00:12On July 16th, Trump media announced something called Truth API.
00:16Now, strip away that fancy tech name,
00:18and it's basically a private pipeline that delivers posts
00:21from the top 10 most influential Truth Social accounts,
00:23the president's included,
00:25as a machine-readable stream that reaches subscribers
00:27milliseconds faster than the public feed.
00:30Trump media didn't release any pricing themselves.
00:32Instead, the Financial Times and Reuters reported the $100,000 figure
00:36from people familiar with the pitches,
00:38along with a $60,000 a month rate for firms signing a three-year contract.
00:43The milliseconds that are offered from the subscription matter
00:46because of what these posts do.
00:48For example, on April 9th, 2025,
00:50Wall Street's main indexes turned sharply higher
00:52after Trump posted that he was pausing a bunch of his new tariffs for 90 days.
00:56If you're a trading firm and you see a post like that
00:59even a fraction of a second before everyone else,
01:01it can be worth a fortune.
01:03Trump media's interim CEO, Kevin McGurn,
01:05says markets already move on Truth Social posts
01:08and expects the product to become an ongoing source of revenue for shareholders.
01:12The company is just selling the fastest version of something people are already watching.
01:16Now, Trump holds roughly 53% of Trump media
01:19through a trust he transferred shares into in December 2024 before taking office.
01:23Senator Elizabeth Warren called it an egregious scheme
01:26to profit off the presidency and enrich Wall Street
01:28while doing nothing to help Americans.
01:31Trump media says customers are already signing up ahead of the August 1st launch.
01:35As of right now, nobody is saying this is illegal,
01:38but should a sitting president be allowed to sell a head start on words that move markets?
