Key Insights from the Episode Prioritize Employee Dignity: Avoid public criticism or making staff feel ashamed, as harsh treatment drives immediate employee turnover. Extend Active Empathy: Counteract heavy competition regarding salaries, locations, and schedules by creating a supportive, emotionally intelligent workplace. Intervene with Compassion: Step in personally when an employee is having a bad day to offer support, which can prevent impulsive resignations. 00:00Okay, well, we have a little tradition in the American Business Podcast.
00:04I have a question for you coming from our previous guest,
00:07and I'll ask you to leave a question with me in this episode.
00:11So I'll take the question and ask to our coming guest.
00:15Here's the question from our previous guest.
00:18Is it a good time to start a startup company nowadays?
00:24I think carpe diem.
00:26Who knows if we're ever going to be here tomorrow?
00:29And when you say starting a company,
00:30it could just be as simple as just drawing what the logo looks like
00:34or thinking what the jingle is going to be
00:36and what the uniform is going to look like.
00:39It doesn't mean you need to throw $15,000 out on something.
00:42And so it depends on the stage,
00:45but I think today is the best day to start anything.
00:49And depending on your resources and time,
00:52that's where your priorities are.
00:53And my company started, I guess,
00:56from conversations with two or three friends.
00:58I was in between jobs.
01:00They said, do with what you know,
01:01and they started the business.
01:03And it seemed overwhelming.
01:06But where I'm at today,
01:08by owning a call center or server room and staff
01:10was a lot different than it was 18 years ago
01:13when I was renting a turnkey station
01:16at a blended call center,
01:18like an internet cafe.
01:19I didn't have the bells and the whistles.
01:21It's not a private office.
01:24But I was able to scale accordingly
01:28and be responsible with my money.
