00:00Hey Santa Monica, my name is Robert and I'm here to show an exciting update that's changing how
00:03people move sustainably in our city. Starting May 1st, the city is launching a brand new
00:08automated bike lane enforcement program. This program will help ensure that our bike lanes
00:12remain clear for cyclists so that they can get where they need to go reliably and safely. Here's
00:17how this works. Santa Monica parking enforcement vehicles will be equipped with camera technology
00:22that automatically detects vehicles illegally parked in bike lanes. When a potential parking
00:27violation is detected, a short video of the violation will be sent to parking enforcement
00:31officers for review. The program will begin with a 60-day warning period and starting in July 1st,
00:36violators will receive a $93 ticket for parking illegally. The best way to avoid a parking
00:41ticket is to share the road and keep our bike lanes clear.
