00:00Sometimes the most interesting part of a story never makes it into the headlines.
00:04That's why we created Unbiased Updates Offscript,
00:08an exclusive show where we turn off the prompter for smart insights about the stories shaping your week.
00:13There is evidence, right, that it's foreign actors who are creating these accounts.
00:20Unscripted conversations, transparent reporting, and the context behind the headlines
00:24from the people who know the stories best, no spin or agenda.
00:28That website was only created one day before announcing his candidacy.
00:34Unbiased Updates Offscript, coming this week at Straight Arrow.
00:38A weekend of escalation as more U.S. troops are killed
00:42and President Trump orders another round of strikes on Iran.
00:46I mean, their behavior has to change in order for ours to change.
00:49Plus, Britain gets a new prime minister today as Andy Burnham takes over for Keir Starmer.
00:55And the Vance family has a new member, as J.D. and Usha Vance welcome a baby boy.
01:04The stories that matter, clear and credible, from across the country to around the world.
01:10These are your Unbiased Updates from Straight Arrow.
01:15Good morning, I'm Craig DeGrelli.
01:17The United States has carried out a ninth straight night of strikes on Iran,
01:22with Iranian state media reporting new attacks that included the area around the country's
01:27only civilian nuclear plant.
01:29President Trump says Iran was hit very hard overnight as the conflict continues to grow
01:34after at least three U.S. service members were killed in the Middle East over the weekend.
01:39One service member died in northern Iraq during the controlled detonation of a downed Iranian drone.
01:46U.S. Central Command has also recovered unidentified remains in Jordan,
01:50where a separate Iranian attack left two American troops dead and another missing in action.
01:56Trump said the service members gave their lives to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
02:02But we hit them very hard again tonight, and we did that in honor of the probably three,
02:08it's probably three, as opposed to two, great patriots.
02:12Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the troops' deaths are a reminder of the price of war.
02:18Obviously, I think sometimes when you look at this stuff, we forget, we take for granted,
02:23that our military is so effective that the mission they carry out is very, very dangerous.
02:27Look, our military all over the world, especially in that part of the world,
02:30but all over the world every single day, do very dangerous things.
02:34We've had people who lost their lives in training missions.
02:37Nothing the military does with state. It's all inherently dangerous.
02:40And we're just grateful to have such heroic Americans in uniform in the service of our country.
02:45The fighting is also spreading across the region.
02:48U.S. allies Kuwait and Bahrain reported new Iranian attacks early this morning.
02:53Iran's foreign ministry is also warning the U.S. will face the consequences
02:58if American forces try to seize Karg Island after Trump threatened to take control of the key oil export hub.
03:05The escalating conflict is also pushing energy prices higher.
03:09AAA says the national average of a gallon of gas has climbed above $4 for just the second time since
03:16the war began.
03:17Across the ocean, Britain's seventh prime minister in just the past decade officially takes office today.
03:23Current Prime Minister Keir Starmer just delivered his farewell speech outside 10 Downing Street.
03:29Afterwards, he travels to Buckingham Palace to formally submit his resignation to King Charles.
03:35The king will then invite Andy Burnham, the former mayor of Greater Manchester,
03:39often called the King of the North, to form a new government as Britain's next prime minister.
03:44Burnham has promised to, quote,
03:46rewire Britain and is expected to unveil a 10-year plan for the country along with his team of ministers,
03:52the U.K.'s equivalent of a cabinet.
03:54He will inherit a long list of challenges from sluggish economic growth
03:59to an increasingly strained relationship with the United States following the conflict with Iran.
04:04President Trump, meanwhile, welcomed Burnham's arrival in a social media post,
04:08praising his support for expanding North Sea oil and gas production,
04:13a sharp contrast to Britain's recent push to make the North Sea one of the world's largest offshore wind regions,
04:20an effort Trump has repeatedly criticized.
04:23Happening later today, Andrew and Tristan Tate are expected to make their first appearance
04:29before a federal magistrate in Miami after their arrest over the weekend
04:33on a British extradition request tied to new rape and sex trafficking charges.
04:39U.S. Marshals took the Influencer brothers into custody Saturday
04:43after British prosecutors announced 38 new charges involving four additional alleged victims.
04:49Those include rape, trafficking, assault and other alleged offenses.
04:53The brothers have denied all wrongdoing.
04:55The latest allegations bring the total number of alleged victims in the U.K. to seven.
05:00British investigators say the case reflects their continued commitment to pursuing violence against women.
05:06I want to make it clear.
05:08There is no place for male violence against women and girls in our society,
05:11and we will continue to work tirelessly to support victims and investigate all reports made to us.
05:18Andrew and Tristan Tate have been at the center of legal battles stretching across Britain,
05:23Romania and now the United States.
05:25British authorities are seeking their extradition while separate criminal cases in Romania
05:30remain unresolved after procedural setbacks.
05:33A U.S. judge will now begin determining whether the brothers meet the legal requirements
05:38to be extradited to the United Kingdom, where prosecutors want them returned to face the new charges.
05:45Politics now.
05:46The race to take on Republican Senator Susan Collins in Maine is coming into much sharper focus this morning.
05:52Less than two weeks after Democratic nominee Graham Plattner dropped out following sexual assault allegations,
05:59Democrats appear to be rallying behind a new frontrunner.
06:02Former Maine Senate President Troy Jackson has effectively locked up enough delegate support
06:07to become the party's nominee at this upcoming weekend's convention.
06:11Jackson, a fifth-generation logger, backed by organized labor, now turns his attention to Collins
06:17in what Democrats view as one of their best opportunities to flip a Republican-held Senate seat.
06:23One of Jackson's biggest rivals, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, dropped out Sunday,
06:28writing on X, quote,
06:29The most important thing we can do in this moment is unite to defeat Susan Collins.
06:34The race was thrown into turmoil after Plattner suspended his campaign earlier this month
06:39following allegations from a former girlfriend that he forced her to have sex.
06:44Plattner has denied those allegations.
06:46Jackson struck a humble tone after learning he had secured majority delegate support
06:52in a video posted by his campaign.
06:54I've been getting text messages all day about, you know, what a great job I did,
07:00and I didn't do a f***ing thing.
07:02All of you just smoked it.
07:05Jackson still has to officially secure the nomination at Saturday's convention,
07:10but with broad delegate support now behind him,
07:13Democrats are already shifting their focus to the November race against Collins
07:17and what is expected to be one of the country's most closely watched contests.
07:21Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance are celebrating a new addition to their family
07:28after welcoming their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neal Vance.
07:33The vice president announced the birth Sunday saying Usha and the baby are happy and healthy
07:38and that their three children are excited to meet their new little brother.
07:41The birth is also a historic one.
07:44Usha Vance is the first Second Lady in more than 150 years to give birth
07:49while her husband is serving as vice president.
07:51In a post on X, Vance thanked the medical teams at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center
07:57and the White House Medical Unit for their care,
08:00adding that the family is overjoyed by Alec's arrival.
08:04The Vances now have four children ranging in age from infancy to nine years old.
08:09Finally this morning, if you love great defense and spectacular goalkeeping,
08:14Sunday's World Cup final delivered.
08:16Spain controlled much of the match, but Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez kept his team alive
08:23with one incredible save after another.
08:26Then, in extra time, Ferran Torres took a perfectly timed pass
08:30and buried the game winner to give Spain a 1-0 lead.
08:33Spain actually had two other goals waved off during the match, but one was all it needed.
08:39After six weeks of competition, the Spaniards are World Cup champions.
08:42A sellout crowd packed MetLife Stadium for the final, where some tickets reportedly sold
08:48for, get this, nearly $8,000.
08:50The match may also mark the end of Lionel Messi's World Cup career.
08:55At 39, he became the first man to play in six World Cup tournaments.
09:00He nearly helped Argentina find a late equalizer, creating chances until the final whistle.
09:05But Spain held on to capture the title.
09:07I tuned in for about the last, well, hour of the game, then it extended so it was like
09:12an hour and a half, and I was seeing who was going to score the winning goal,
09:16and Spain finally got it.
09:18So, congratulations to them.
