00:00Every day, about 2 million seafarers leave their families behind to operate the 85,000 merchant ships
00:06used to transport the drugs we use, the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the vehicles we drive,
00:12and other goods for our daily needs. These seafarers are victims of geopolitical tension,
00:17as some are killed while others are severely injured. According to BIMCO and the International
00:23Chamber of Shipping, the growing demand for seafarers has increased to about 35%.
00:28This is because the world is building more ships to accommodate the over 90% trade transported
00:34via sea. The report also stated that over 100,000 seafarers are needed every year to transport
00:41this trade. However, with these crisis-based killings, a lot of seafarers will be discouraged
00:46from joining the industry, which will lead to a continuous shortfall.
