00:00One Wall Street firm is paying its interns $8,600 a week. That's more than the average American
00:05makes in two months. Wall Street trading firm Susquehanna International Group is dangling
00:09an eye-popping offer of $8,600 a week for its master's and PhD student interns. That totals
00:15to $86,000 over the 10-week summer program. For those with a little less experience, such as in
00:20an undergraduate program, there are still internships available, but they pay $7,600 a
00:25week instead. Along with a high paycheck, interns get access to free housing, complimentary
00:29breakfast and lunch, and access to a bunch of events during their internship programs, such as
00:34poker nights, dinners, and sporting event outings. The intern pay is striking in comparison to the
00:39median U.S. worker, who earn a little over $1,200 per week on average, meaning they would have to
00:44work nearly two months to earn what the Wall Street interns are earning in one week. Even with the high
00:49pay, Wall Street interns are known to have faced long hours and intense pressure from their firms,
00:53and companies like JP Morgan have faced backlash in recent years over the unhealthy working
00:58environment workers are enduring. For more on Susquehanna's hiring strategy,
