00:05It's the on-again, off-again pay deal that's dividing school workers and their union.
00:11But these educators are not prepared to give up the fight.
00:15We will strike perhaps every fortnight until we get the deal that we need.
00:20This protest outside Ben Carroll's electorate office last night also aimed at union leadership.
00:26The union has not been prepared to stand up strongly enough to the Labor Government.
00:31We want to see them fight for our members.
00:33Today, news of a last-minute revised offer of a 28% to 32% increase over four years for
00:40all,
00:40giving percentage increases to education support staff who were only offered allowances under the last deal.
00:47This builds on everything that was agreed to by the union in the previous agreement.
00:52It also offers allowances to teachers at the top of their pay band,
00:57and halves required meeting hours to 40 hours a year.
01:01What counts is what members overall think about the revised offer.
01:05But it's still not the 35% over three years that educators asked for.
01:10But the new agreement doesn't go far enough on workloads, it doesn't go far enough on pay,
01:14and there is still no commitment to fully fund our public schools.
01:18So it should be voted down, and we should continue our strike.
01:21The union says it was advised of the new offer late last night,
01:25but is accusing the state government of trying to bypass them,
01:28directly contacting school employees.
01:31What they should have done is come through the union,
01:34because that's what members expect.
01:36Going straight to our workforce is what a strong Labor government does.
01:42Whether the offer is enough to ward off another strike is yet to be seen.
01:48Especially with that, you know,
01:49the strength of the union has also been awarded,
01:49the strength of the union has retreated,
01:51The national benefit of the union has been ready to attend.
