The conflict in Yemen has entered a dangerous new phase after the Houthis claimed they shot down a Saudi-operated Chinese-made Wing Loong II combat drone over Al-Bayda. The reported drone shootdown came just hours after Saudi-backed forces bombed the runway at Sanaa International Airport to prevent an Iranian Mahan Air flight from landing, dramatically escalating tensions.

The Houthis condemned the airport strike as an "act of war" and responded by launching missiles and drones toward Saudi Arabia's Abha International Airport. The group also warned commercial airlines to avoid Saudi airspace, raising fears that the fragile truce in Yemen could be collapsing
