00:00All right, we're sharing with all of you, if you haven't seen it, ESPN's list of the best receivers in
00:07the NFL, ranked 1 through 10, and then there are six honorable mentions ranked, I believe, in order of the
00:14way the players got the votes, and then another 10 receivers mentioned as others receiving votes.
00:21This league is deep at wide receiver. I think this is true. This will be the most players at any
00:29position that got votes. There just is an unbelievable abundance of wide receiver talent in the NFL. It really is
00:39the age of the wide receiver in the NFL.
00:43It has been for a while. So where does Terry fall on ESPN's rankings as voted by 70 voters, all
00:52of whom are within the league?
00:54Front office execs, GMs, head coaches, scouts. The top 10, Jamar Chase, Justin Jefferson, JSN was 3, Nakua 4, Amonra
01:03St. Brown was 5, CeeDee Lamb was 6, George Pickens 7, Nico Collins 8, A.J. Brown 9, Devontae Adams
01:1110.
01:11Then on the honorable mention list, Malik Nabors was the first name mentioned, so put him at 11, Evans at
01:1812, Zay Flowers at 13, Tyreek Hill at 14, Drake London at 15, and then the last honorable mention wide
01:28receiver, who would be the 16th ranked wide receiver per this polling in the NFL, is Jamison Williams from Detroit.
01:41So Terry's not in the top 10, which I didn't think he would be, and he did not make the
01:46honorable mention, which I thought there was a chance he would make the honorable mention list.
01:52Look, out of sight, out of mind, man, recency bias, it goes, it's a part of how people inside these
02:00games and outside these games typically evaluate and analyze and rank and list.
02:08And last year, everybody on Washington's team basically was out of sight, out of mind, legitimately out of sight because
02:15they didn't play much.
02:17Jaden Daniels didn't play much. Terry didn't play a lot last year.
02:21So if Terry and Jaden played last year and they have kind of a year, even if it's a true
02:27step back year because they were on the field and regressed rather than regressing because they were off the field,
02:32I don't call that regressing with injury, but they would have perhaps been higher on these lists.
02:39Now, the also receiving votes basically takes you from the 17th ranked wide receiver through the 26th ranked wide receiver
02:48in the league.
02:49The first on the first on the also receiving votes list, number 17 at wide receiver in the NFL is
02:55Alec Pierce.
02:57Washington tried to pursue him at the beginning of free agency. He stayed in Indianapolis.
03:03Alec Pierce, followed by T. Higgins, who would be the 18th best receiver in the NFL.
03:10Then DK Metcalf. Wait, Pierce would be 17. Higgins would be 18.
03:16Metcalf would be the 19th best receiver in the NFL.
03:21And then finally, Terry McLaurin is mentioned. He'd be the 20th receiver in the NFL.
03:31So there you go. They've got essentially Terry as the number 20 wide receiver in the NFL.
03:38I'm going to give you my thoughts on it in a moment.
03:41Following Terry on the list is Garrett Wilson.
03:43I actually think Garrett Wilson could be way higher on this list.
03:49Give him a quarterback. Let's see what happens with him.
03:52Devontae Smith follows Garrett Wilson.
03:55Lad McConkie got votes.
03:58Brian Thomas Jr. in Jacksonville got votes.
04:00Jalen Waddell got votes.
04:02And Chris Alave, who I like a lot.
04:04But again, with Alave, same kind of deal as Nico Collins a little bit.
04:09Availability.
04:09You know, last year, Alave was available.
04:13A hundred catches for Chris Alave last year and nine touchdowns.
04:18You know, a hundred catches with essentially, you know, for the most,
04:24certainly for the second half of the season, a rookie quarterback in Tyler Shuck,
04:28throwing him the football.
04:29I actually am a big fan of Alave.
04:31I think he's an excellent route runner.
04:33I think he's got really good hands.
04:35His availability in 2024 was a major issue.
04:39And he's had some of those issues in staying healthy.
04:42And even when he's been healthy and been available, he hasn't been a hundred percent.
04:47So there you go.
04:49There is your list of the receivers that ESPN's 70 voters put together.
04:57Terry as the 20th ranked receiver in the NFL.
05:01Now, where would I have him?
05:04So ahead of him, I would have him definitely in front of Zay Flowers.
05:09Am I nuts?
05:10Am I just missing it on Zay Flowers?
05:13No.
05:13Who's the third honorable mention receiver listed?
05:16Zay Flowers feels like the guy who's just like constantly the past three years is like,
05:21oh, the next year he's going to do it.
05:22The next year he's going to do it.
05:23And then he just doesn't do it.
05:24And it's a disappointing year.
05:25Well, he had 86 catches last year.
05:27But I'm expecting him to be.
05:28Lamar didn't play.
05:29You know, Lamar wasn't out there the entire year.
05:32Yeah.
05:34He's been touted to be wide receiver one for the Baltimore Ravens for the past couple
05:37of years.
05:37And he just hasn't elevated to that level.
05:40Like I would take.
05:40I feel like DeAndre Hopkins is more impactful than he is.
05:43Yeah.
05:43He's itty bitty.
05:46Yeah.
05:49So I put I would take Terry in front of Zay Flowers on this list.
05:54Tyreek Hill, you almost have to take and put aside because you don't know what he's going
05:58to be.
05:59I mean, there are reports that he's just not going to be ready to play this upcoming season
06:03at all because of how bad the knee injury was.
06:06So I'm going to take him off the list entirely and not count him.
06:13I think Jameson Williams to me is inconsistent with catching the football.
06:20That's that's my problem.
06:22Yes, he is a burner.
06:23Yes, he's a threat with the ball in his hands.
06:25But that ball hits his hands and bounces off them.
06:29It seems like a lot to me.
06:31So I'd have Terry in front of Jameson Williams.
06:34I'd have Terry in front of Alec Pierce.
06:37I was not a fan of paying Alec Pierce what he got.
06:40I'm glad they didn't get Alec Pierce.
06:42I say I'm glad I would have loved to have had Alec Pierce's speed size combination on the
06:49field.
06:49I think in some ways Pittman to Pittsburgh that might be a better fit.
06:57Um, so, I mean, it's hard to, I'm going to take him in front of Pierce.
07:03That's hard because Pierce is what?
07:0425 years old, maybe.
07:07But that's four receivers I'd have him in front of.
07:10And then I don't know if I'd have Terry in front of Tee Higgins.
07:13I think Tee Higgins is special.
07:17DK Metcalf inconsistent too.
07:22Nah, I need Metcalf's size and just the ability to dominate a game.
07:27We've seen him do that before.
07:30So, I gave you four receivers and I took Hill off the list.
07:35So I guess I'd have Terry at 15 or 16, which is always kind of where I've thought he's been.
07:41I mean, I think, you know, a couple of years ago, I definitely thought it was closer to
07:4511 or 12, you know, he's not a top 10 receiver.
07:48You know, this is part of the reason going through this exercise.
07:52Again, it's, it's opinion.
07:54It's subjective, but at least the voters are people in the league who, you know, have a
07:59sense for the league.
08:01I know that a lot of our fans, and I think this is true of a lot of fan bases
08:05fans around
08:06the league, you, you watch your team.
08:08You don't watch the rest of the league as much.
08:12Terry's not an elite wide receiver.
08:14He just isn't.
08:16Many of you think he is.
08:17He isn't.
08:18He's not a top 10 wide receiver in the league.
08:20He just isn't.
08:21And he's going to get further away from the top 10 as he gets older.
08:24Although I would expect that both Jaden and Terry this time next year are much higher on
08:30the list than they are right now.
08:32That of course assumes and fingers crossed, you know, is about them staying on the field
08:39because if they stay on the field, they'll be productive.
08:41They'll be very productive.
08:43I do believe that, but I would have him much closer to 15 than I would 20.
08:51I don't get the Zay Flowers at 13.
08:55An AFC personnel evaluator said about Zay Flowers, catch and run, start and stop is elite.
09:02Awareness of where people are when he catches the ball, elite.
09:06Yeah.
09:08All right.
09:09There you go.
09:09We just went through the entire ESPN wide receiver list.
09:14They still have, what do they have left?
09:17They have safeties, which will come out tomorrow and that'll be it.
09:21So they had, Washington had no running backs listed anywhere, no corners listed anywhere,
09:26no edge rushers listed anywhere, no D tackles listed anywhere, no tight ends listed anywhere.
09:32They had Laramie Tunsells, the number five O tackle in the league.
09:37Interior offensive lineman, nobody.
09:39Quarterbacks, Jaden was at 12 as the second receiver on the honorable mention list.
09:44Off-ball linebackers, Frankie Louvoo was others receiving votes and Terry's others receiving
09:50votes for wide receivers.
09:52So four players on the roster in these rankings somewhere.
09:57I don't think they'll end up with a safety on the list.
10:00I don't think Nick Cross is going to make it.
10:01That's my guess.
10:03We'll find out tomorrow.
10:05It does say something obviously about the roster.
10:09But, you know, these are the top, basically somewhere between the top 20 players at a position and
10:15the top 26 at wide receiver.
10:18Doesn't mean that Washington doesn't have, and I think they do in several spots, have several
10:23players that would be in that next tranche of somewhere between 25 and 50.
10:28Still really good football players.
10:30Wouldn't surprise me if this time next year, a guy like Idafe Owe is on the list as a pass
10:37rusher.
10:40Would really love it if, like, a second receiver emerged from somewhere.
10:47All right.
10:50That's the question here.
10:52Looking ahead, if you want to weigh in at 301-230-0980, 301-230-0980, what do you make
11:00of Terry's position on the wide receiver list?
11:02Is it right or not?
11:04Why or why not?
11:0620th overall in the league.
11:07And then give me a player that's not on the list from this team that would exclude Terry,
11:14that would exclude Luvu, that would exclude Jaden Daniels and Laramie Tunsil,
11:18that you think will be on one of these lists this time next year.
11:23I got two that I think have a really good chance with big seasons, breakout seasons,
11:30that will be on this list this time next year.
11:32Somewhere.
11:32Not necessarily in the top 10, but honorable mention, others receiving votes.
11:36We better have a lot more than four this time next year.
11:40So, reaction to Terry coming in where he came in on the wide receiver list,
11:44and then give me the player that right now isn't on any list that you think will be on
11:51a list this time next year.
