00:11off the season here tonight kind of uh excited just like everybody else is to sit down and watch
00:16the rematch of uh last year's super bowl yeah with uh patriots with uh better weapons on the
00:21outside and the seahawks uh after watching them on hard knocks and still looking like they got
00:28one hell of a team uh what do you expect in this game tonight uh you expect to be close
00:34yeah i do i think it's gonna be closer uh i think the the addition of a.j brown uh
00:40to the wide
00:40receiver room in new england's gonna make a big difference just watching him up there in preseason
00:44joe going up against the highest paid corner in football and christian gonzalez week day in day
00:49out i think uh i think he's going to be a good addition and i just think the loss of
00:53clint kubiak
00:54uh it is you know we got to wait and see what happens brian flurry i think the new offense
00:59coordinator um is very capable but he's never been a play caller before so sometimes there's a
01:05little bit of an adjustment there but i think uh just you know just listening to josh mcdaniels
01:11the offensive coordinator the patriots talk a little bit he didn't think he prepared his team very well
01:16against what seattle did and some of their matchup zones and some of the ways they blitzed early
01:21i think they'll be a little better prepared in this game tonight so uh i'll bring it back here
01:26for just a second i did see you out there one day at uh at practice i know you're you're
01:31doing a lot
01:31of your work stuff but uh finn's obviously very like young like i've never seen here since i've been
01:38here since 1980 and thin malik willis takes over with uh a bunch of rookie wide receivers basically
01:45that he's going to be dependent on on the outside what are your thoughts as they get set to take
01:51on the raiders well i don't never see a quarterback room like malik willis and kyle mccord before i
01:57mean there's six starts between the two of them um that's the quarterbacks the receivers are going
02:02to start two rookies out there chris bell i really like but uh you know him and caleb douglas is

02:07to start a wide receiver i mean it's it's very very thin um they're just the roster itself that i
02:12think
02:13the offensive line joe has a chance to be pretty good to real good but there's no depth behind him
02:17at all
02:18and so i i feel like this is kind of what we thought it was going to be kind of
02:23a rebuild but
02:24i do like the coach jeff halfley i do believe that he's the right guy i just think this thing
02:30might
02:30take a little time but i mean it is you got rookies on defense rookies on offense that key positions
02:35and i i like all of them jacob rodriguez i like a bunch chris johnson i mean i think they
02:40they pick
02:41the right guys they just need to get some experience under the belt right now uh and maybe going up

02:46the raiders is a good test even with a new coach and a lot of new players there with the
02:50raiders as
02:51well did uh did that situation with the raiders surprise you who they picked to be the starting
02:55quarterback not not going mendoza uh i mean if he's the right guy if fernando mendoza is the right guy
03:04joe then i think you should just start him and let him take his lumps if he's not the right

03:09okay you know just sit him and let kirk play for a little bit but i don't know starting a

03:14old quarterback who has not played well the last two or three years like i don't know what that
03:19really does for fernando unless they just don't think the team around the quarterback is very good
03:24right now and uh why why let him just take a beating if that's what's going to happen so uh

03:31know it's funny to to see this to a thing and we saw it up close here he played a
03:35little bit and he
03:37basically had no competition he got the job with the what the camp that he had pinnick's still not ready
03:43to go um what do you think atua uh this just from what you saw in camp i'm just curious

03:52i didn't get to atlanta so i never saw him practice out there uh this summer joe but you know
03:57he was a
03:58declining player and we know uh what the history of just the head injuries and other injuries as well
04:04are um so like he gets anointed look they cost it cost them nothing that's right um and so they
04:12they lost their two best pass rushers one to suspension and one to injury i mean there's just
04:18a team right now that's uh you know i mean look drake london and b john robinson are very good
04:23players and maybe tua can throw some jump balls at drake london and get the ball you know you know
04:29how fast he wants to get rid of the football he's not holding it at all right now and when
04:33you're in
04:33that position like that you've got to let things develop and you're not going to see what can happen
04:38if you're in such a hurry to get rid of the football and so i think that's what you're going
04:43to see in atlanta i think you're going to see some real um real swings of how they play uh
04:49in part
04:49because of the quarterback yeah so i want to ask you as we get set for this season and we've
04:55done
04:55nothing but talk about how great the rams are is absolutely loaded and only going to get better
05:00when they get home from this uh trip that they're on right now against the 49ers but i did want
05:05to ask
05:05you so last year the patriots went from four wins to 17 wins impressive as hell what they were able
05:11to do you see anybody else bouncing back that had an off year that could make a big jump into
05:17one of
05:17the best teams in in football i think minnesota can joe i believe in kyle murray i believe in that
05:23organization and the team around the quarterback they won 14 games the year before sam garnold they
05:29went backwards won nine last year didn't make the playoffs uh won their last four to get to nine wins
05:35um but i i believe that this is a team that is is built uh to be successful i think

05:42brian flores on defense and what they have on offense around the quarterback i think is pretty
05:47good tough division but i feel like minnesota could make that jump up this year i haven't talked
05:52to you but do you feel like the rams and broncos are teams to teams to beat just on paper
05:57right now
05:57in the afc nfc i do joe i mean that's kind of when people ask me super bowl picks i
06:03mean that's to me
06:04that me too logical thing i mean i see the rams in denver show and so i'm gonna put it
06:10out there
06:10on espn today that's my super bowl pick obviously everything can change and we know all that stuff
06:15but i feel like denver got better i mean they got jaylen waddle that's a big one right there yeah

06:22is and he's a good guy he's a team player and you never have to worry about him he's just
06:28you know
06:28and he gives you some spark he gives you about a run after the catch he gives you a deep
06:33threat
06:33all that kind of stuff that's what they needed on offense he needed some explosion from the passing
06:38game but everything else is kind of in place for him so i feel like you know denver and we'll
06:43see
06:44we'll watch them on monday night against kansas city but i feel like that's going to be the team

07:36can back being you know he doesn't have to be the head coach he can be mike now uh miami

07:41mike or whatever what what are your thoughts on on how the good they can be on that offense
07:47well i mean the social media team with the chargers did a good job of just showcasing mike and
07:52and you know i mean it was it was everywhere you couldn't not see it it seems like it's a
07:58good
07:58fit but they did lose their starting center and that was a big problem with that whole offense last
08:03year was you know it starts at that position and i don't know that they've replaced it so but you
08:09know regardless i mean they should be uh i think justin herbert should play well the tackles are back
08:15uh you know we'll see we'll see kind of what happens but you know his his uh mo is in
08:21the run
08:21game and if the run game is good with the chargers justin herbert's going to be just fine because he's
08:26got more than enough help around him to throw the ball a tight end and receiver to be successful but
08:32you know we keep talking about i guess everybody talks about justin herbert how good he is and
08:37at some point you got to start winning some playoff games and before they you know before they
08:42stop anointing you as one of the best in the league and that's what he's up against right now
08:47so maybe mike can really help him you know start making some strides in the postseason you know
08:52bali i just don't see it and woody and i go back and forth every day about ken city chiefs

08:59think and i love mahomes looking nobody can ever say anything bad about him he's a tough mofo he's
09:03coming back he's going to play day one here but he got an old team are you sold that the
09:09ken
09:09city chiefs are back in the playoffs and going to be a really good team no i'm not and i
09:15saw i saw
09:15patrick mahomes it's amazing joe like you can't tell that he had any knee reconstruction at all
09:21watching him in practice he took every rep and uh just but you know they have a big question at
09:28left
09:28tackle they have a question at right tackle they have a question at receivers uh i don't know that
09:33travis kelsey can keep going at any sort of a you know hall of fame clip uh i i see
09:38a decline there
09:40and then defensively they're having to rebuild their entire defense they're counting on two rookies
09:44to come in and play like all pros right now up front and that's a lot to ask from any
09:49defense alignment
09:51does anybody have more pressure than josh allen and the bills to like hurry up and win and i look
09:56i look at that team and i know you know those guys it's a team you know really well
10:01josh allen's unbelievable does he have enough team wise and on the defensive side of the ball to
10:07to go ahead and win this whole thing that's the question right now you know we will see we'll see
10:12i like jim leonard the defensive coordinator i believe in jim uh it's going to be a totally
10:16different style of defense it was for so long it was bend but don't break and that got him to
10:21the
10:21postseason every year didn't win him a lot of postseason games josh can't do it by himself no
10:26quarterback can and i don't know if dj moore is an upgrade over what they've had over there
10:31uh but it sure seems like he needs more help offensively than what he has right now maybe
10:37joe brady can unlock it um that's what they're counting on right now but defensively they're
10:43still looking for pass rushers joe and they've tried everybody out there and now they've got
10:47bradley chubb there i've watched chubb like he doesn't scare anybody coming off the edge anymore
10:51and so you know that but that's you know they've been going to joey bosa and von miller and all
10:57different guys uh that have not provided you know the steady pressure you need to apply to
11:03quarterbacks to win big games right now i i gotta jump you have you jump in before i let you

11:09on this uh western michigan the double hill mary the one second that everybody's talked about the
11:15most famous one second in college football maybe of all time uh i don't see it that this one second
11:24nobody gets two hell marys you know that nobody gets two hell mary opportunities so we've been doing
11:30this together as as long as anybody and i've never heard of anything called the hidden clock
11:36what is the hidden clock joe that was the first yeah i've never heard that one before i thought i've
11:43heard it all until until the hidden clock and they're like they're defending it like it's real
11:48i'm like stop it yeah like it said zero on the clock we got all 10 million people watching the
11:54game
11:54and we're all watching this thing hit zero and then how if you go put another second on the clock
12:01look i i i i've never heard of it and uh you know sometimes we know bs when we see

12:10that's uh the coach is over going now i thought we had a second how the hell did you know
