08:04Okay, so although it may seem like it in some of our videos, and maybe even today's video,
08:11that everything is just perfect in places like Tulum, the truth is nowhere's perfect. And there
08:19are some issues in Tulum, such as there's a lot of construction going on. Tulum's actually kind
08:25of going through a bit of a boom right now. So even the building we're in, it's like maybe 80
08:32%
08:32finished. So from time to time, we can hear like construction going on pretty close by. It's not
08:38too bad. It's been a couple of days where it was pretty annoying, but it's nothing serious.
08:43But it is something to think about. I can see a crane right here. There's literally
08:48apartment buildings going up all over Tulum. It's in the middle of a massive development boom.
08:53And it's also September, which means it's sort of getting to the tail end of the wet season.
08:59And we've had a lot of sunny days, but we've also had some rainy days. And the rainy days
09:05can sometimes cause blackouts. In fact, Tulum's pretty notorious for having electrical blackouts,
09:12even when it's not in the middle of the monsoon season. We actually had a blackout in our apartment.
09:19Actually, the whole of Tulum apparently was blacked out. It happened on Sunday night,
09:24and it lasted for about an hour or an hour and a half, which is pretty frustrating because,
09:30and this is like a first world problem. It was Sunday night football. I was pumped to watch
09:34Sunday night football. I'd been waiting for it all day. And then the power went out and I thought
09:39it was going to be one of those things where the power just goes out and then it turns straight
09:42back on. That didn't happen. We messaged the Airbnb owner and they told us that, yeah, this is like,
09:48this is happening all over Tulum. This isn't just our apartment. So I was pretty bummed,
09:53but luckily, I mean, there was no wifi. We didn't, couldn't use the TV. There was literally nothing
09:58worked. We couldn't go to a restaurant and watch the football somewhere. Thankfully, uh, as you guys
10:04know, we always travel with an Olifly eSIM. So I was able to tether my Olifly eSIM to my laptop
10:13and
10:13we already had a couple of beers. We had some food already in the fridge, luckily, and we made the
10:20most
10:20of it. We sat out on the balcony and we watched Sunday night football using our Olifly eSIM.

13:15One thing I really love about restaurants in New Mexico is they always give you like
13:20a free like treat or something when you sit down.
13:23They just gave us like a shot that had ginger, hibiscus and lime, I think he said in it.
13:29I know, he said I had ginger.
13:30Yeah.
13:31Definitely hibiscus.
13:32It looks really good.
13:34It's delicious.
13:40And if it's not that, it's tortilla chips and salsa, which I'm never complaining about.
13:46Yeah, the first night we were here, we were starving because we just got off the plane.
13:51So we ordered three serves of tacos at this restaurant across from our hotel.
13:56And, uh, before the tacos even came out, they brought out a massive bowl of tortilla chips
14:02and we pretty much filled up on them and then had to take the tacos to go.
14:06Yeah, we got nine tacos between the two of us.
14:09Yeah.
14:09I think a lot of that is that in Thailand and mostly Southeast Asia, the portions are small.
14:15So you order extra.
14:16You don't need to do that in Mexico.
14:18The portions are not small.

14:46It says it's good for six people.

14:53We're just heading to the shops.
14:54We're going to drop off the rubbish and recycling on our way out.

15:01A lot of places that we've stayed at have had that, which, um, yeah, that's funny, isn't

15:20It is our favorite shopping center, I think, that, or favorite supermarket, I should say,
15:26um, that we go to, has the most incredible rotisserie chicken.
15:31So we'll show you that and just really like the prices of, um, different foods and things,
15:39um, that you can kind of expect to pay here.
15:42Some things are cheaper.
15:44Some things are more expensive.
15:45Um, but overall we've found it a lot more affordable than, especially in Canada, that's
15:52for sure.
15:52It's got everything except a good steak.
15:56Haven't really found like a good steak or like a pork chop or anything like that.
16:03But yeah, so we eat a lot of chicken here.

16:09Um, and obviously a lot of tacos.
16:14We've pretty much eaten tacos every day that we've been here so far.

16:19It's also Mexican Independence Day today.
16:23So, I reckon they're going to be giving out free tequila to the shop.

17:07So, this complex is awesome because it's got a gym and the, so the grocery store has a
17:13store right across the street and then it's also got a laundromat in it.
17:17So, it's got everything you need.
17:19We really haven't needed to go that far, which has been good because transport here in Tulum
17:24is quite expensive.
17:26Um, and we've only rented an ATV once so far and then that's pretty much it.
17:32So, uh, yeah, we really like this place.
17:35When we're out of here, we will share, um, this Airbnb if you're interested in staying
17:40here.
17:41Um, but we'll just wait until we're not staying here anymore.
17:45I think we might get, uh, we might get some bikes later this afternoon and go for a ride

19:00I have to say, I think I've said this in many videos before that the art is probably the
19:05best in probably the world as far as like murals and that type of thing.
19:10In Mexico, I think it's one of the best in the world.
19:13And here's the gym.

19:18Uh, we paid about 800 Mexican pesos, uh, for the month.
19:24I think you can get that cheaper if you do more or longer.

19:34And then even a hospital.

19:39Easy transition for us like getting started in doing digital nomad life again.

19:53Um, but yeah, just this location, as far as everything that we need, it's all here.
19:58And getting started and traveling again, it's made it a smooth transition.

20:42Uh, one thing that isn't in our Airbnb is water.
20:47So we've had to buy lots of bottles of water, which kind of sucks with the recycling a little
20:53bit.
20:54Obviously that won't be the case in every Airbnb, but that is, that's been the case for everyone
20:59like in the lower price range generally doesn't have, uh, filtered water.
21:04So you have to kind of have to go collect that most days.
21:07I was going to cook tonight, but now I really can't be bothered.
21:11I'd rather go out, especially cause it's Mexican independent state.
21:14There's probably some fun things going on.
21:16Um, so, but I'll just show you guys how much some stuff costs.
21:20So you can get an idea if you are coming here, how much things with beef and that sort
21:25of thing costs.
21:27Oh, we need eggs for 30 eggs is 96 pesos, which converts to five bucks us.
21:36About $5 us for, which I think is really good.
21:40I think these might be organic too.
21:42A lot of the stuff in here is organic.
22:02He hasn't been able to find like a good steak.
22:04Um, we've got like minced beef here, which is 145 pesos.
22:10I'll chuck the, um, conversion on the screen for you guys.
22:13I'm so bad at just knowing what the actual prices are off the top of my head.

22:23So you've got like chicken breast here.
22:26Um, I think that's three chicken breasts for 126 pesos.
22:33So there is steaks, but they're like, they do get a bit pricey.

22:41And I'm sure they're really good quality.
22:43Uh, but for like, yeah, just like, like usually it would do like a, a breakfast steak or pork
22:49chop or something like that.
22:50But we've just been doing just eggs for breakfast most days.
22:53Um, uh, there actually is a really good bakery in here as well.
22:58And really everything's so fresh and like made daily.
23:02So it's good.

23:06I'm constantly refilling that up as well.

23:21And then you've got here five liters for 30 pesos.
23:25So, um, these ones are just obviously harder to carry home.
23:29And then you got to kind of divvy them up into bottles and stuff.

24:19It's humid.
24:21It's quiet.
24:22But it's alive.
24:25And in that stillness, before the world rushes in, you remember why you came here.
24:33Not just to escape, but to return.
24:38Being a digital nomad in Tulum isn't just about palm trees and laptop screens.
24:44It's about navigating Wi-Fi that cuts out mid-call.
24:49Scooters that break down on empty roads.
24:53And a rhythm of life that moves slower, but somehow deeper.
25:01The challenges are real.
25:04And sometimes frustrating.
25:06And sometimes frustrating.
25:07But something happens when you stop resisting them.
25:12You soften.
25:14You listen.
25:15You grow.
25:18And then one day, you're barefoot in a beach cafe, editing videos with sand still on your
25:24skin.
25:24You feel the same.
25:24You feel the same person, laughing at your own messiness.
25:28And realizing you've never felt more like you.
25:32Not the version trying to keep up.
25:35But the one who knows how to breathe.
25:39How to let go.
25:42How to create from a place that feels... whole.
25:47this lifestyle asks a lot from you but it gives so much back freedom clarity space to remember the
25:59parts of yourself you forgot in all the noise so here we are not just working remotely but living
26:08closely closely with nature closely with uncertainty closely with who we really are and honestly that
