Microsoft isn't messing around with this - and in my opinion it's one of the biggest mass adoption stories we will see this year.
This is a huge upgrade so be sure to check out the articles here:

00:00What's going on, everybody?
00:01Welcome back to another video.
00:02Microsoft just made a huge pivot.
00:05They had been aligning themselves with OpenAI
00:07for the past several years,
00:08and all of a sudden they're like, it's Claude time.
00:11It is time to completely change what we're doing
00:13because OpenAI is not doing it for us.
00:15So they partner with Anthropic
00:17to bring us Copilot Cowork,
00:19which is essentially the exact same thing as Claude Cowork.
00:23And so in this video,
00:24we're gonna take a look at everything that they've announced.
00:26We're gonna take a look at one of the videos
00:27that they put out as a promo,
00:28and we'll talk a little bit about the cost and my thoughts.
00:32Now, to get us started, the CEO of Microsoft
00:34made this announcement on X the other day,
00:36and here's what he said.
00:37He said, announcing Copilot Cowork,
00:39a new way to complete tasks and get work done in M365.
00:43You hand off a task to Cowork,
00:44it turns your request into a plan
00:46and execute it across your apps and files,
00:48grounded in your work data
00:49and operating within M365 security and governance boundaries.
00:54Now, obviously this is a massive deal
00:56because they're gonna be releasing,
00:57basically, agentic AI to the masses.
01:00This is gonna be for the everyday person
01:02who uses Microsoft 365.
01:04Maybe not everybody,
01:06because as we see in their documentation,
01:08it's gonna be quite expensive.
01:10We can actually see it right here on their release.
01:12It says, Microsoft 365 E7 will be available May 1st,
01:16with a retail price of $99 per month.
01:19Now, this is gonna be all within the Microsoft ecosystem.
01:22It's gonna be able to connect all your apps,
01:23all your different tools and put it all in one place
01:26and use Cloud Cowork to basically go
01:28and do a bunch of awesome things.
01:30At least, that's what they're promising
01:32and what they're saying it's going to do.
01:33Now, I, myself, use Cloud Cowork all the time.
01:36I've been using it a lot.
01:37And so, I kind of know some of the downsides
01:39of using Cloud Cowork,
01:41and I'll talk about that later on,
01:42about just some of the issues that might pop up
01:45with something like this.
01:46But they have released this already to a select few
01:49who are in their preview version.
01:51We can see that being mentioned right here,
01:53where it says Cowork is being tested for a limited time,
01:55with a set of customers as a research preview,
01:58and will be available through the Frontier program in March.
02:02So, if you want access, you can get access.
02:04I will have links to the stuff that we're looking at
02:05in the description, by the way.
02:06So, you, if you want this Frontier program,
02:09and you wanna try to get in and get hands-on access with this,
02:11that is how you can do it.
02:12And they're basically collecting data, collecting feedback,
02:14to see what they can make better
02:16before they release it to everyone on May 1st.
02:18Here are some of the places that I think people
02:20will be using it the most,
02:21although it is in other tools as well.
02:24It's gonna be in Microsoft Copilot in Word,
02:26Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
02:29These are the tools that just your everyday person
02:31within the Microsoft ecosystem
02:33is gonna be living in and using all the time.
02:35They're also calling this Wave 3.
02:37I didn't know there was a Wave 1 or Wave 2,
02:40but if you click on this link,
02:41this Wave 3 terminology is everywhere.
02:43I didn't know about these other Waves,
02:45but this Wave 3 is probably their biggest one by far.
02:48I think agentic AI is kind of the future
02:50of where we were heading with AI.
02:52And so this in and of itself is a huge announcement.
02:55I'm talking probably one of the biggest announcement
02:57with AI that I've seen so far.
03:00The last one was just basically for information.
03:02Here's what's gonna be happening.
03:03Here's how much it costs.
03:04Here's some of the details.
03:05This link, which I will have in the description,
03:07is basically hands-on demoing of these features.
03:10Now, there's a lot of them.
03:11I'm gonna scroll down a little bit.
03:13We have one, clean up your calendar,
03:15reschedule meetings, and protect focus time.
03:17Build the meeting packet and align the team,
03:20generate the deck, document, and follow-up.
03:21We have three, four, and that's it.
03:24Now, I'm gonna show you this third one
03:26because I think this is the most relevant one
03:28and probably the most interesting one to watch.
03:31Imagine needing deep financial analysis on a company.
03:34That means scouring through dozens of web sources,
03:37connecting the dots, and turning it into something
03:40your team can actually use.
03:41CoPilot Cowork was built for exactly this.
03:45It begins with a research plan, determining what to investigate
03:49and where, grounded in your instructions to focus on facts,
03:53not opinions.
03:55It doesn't just find information.
03:57It pressure tests it, catching gaps before they become problems.
04:02Then it synthesizes everything into the financial story
04:05that ties it all together.
04:07Starting with a consulting quality report
04:10with a detailed company analysis and every source cited.
04:14Then it drafts the email to your manager
04:17with every artifact attached and ready to send.
04:20And as you drill into the spreadsheet,
04:22the full detail is there
04:24with the right protections automatically applied.
04:27The quarterly revenue trend, segment analysis, balance sheet, and more.
04:32This is CoPilot Cowork built for real work.
04:36So what it is promising right here is to basically go out
04:39and scrape the web and pull in data.
04:42Now, this is something that we've seen with ChatGPT.
04:44We've seen it with Anthropic, Gemini, all the different AI models
04:48and all the different AI tools out there.
04:50They do a lot of web scraping.
04:51They pull the websites in.
04:53They analyze and synthesize the data.
04:55So that is what it's promising it's going to do
04:57based only on facts and not opinions.
05:00So that's the announcement, basically everything that you need to know.
05:03But I'm going to give you my thoughts now.
05:04And I see this going in several different directions
05:07and I'm not sure which path we're going to be going down.
05:11And so I'm just going to give them to you
05:13and then let me know in the comments
05:14which path you think is the most likely.
05:16Now, to preface this, it's $99 per month per seat.
05:20So it's $100 per month for, you know, a user.
05:23Now, smaller companies, that's going to be, you know,
05:26quite a bit of money.
05:27For larger companies, that's a drop in the bucket.
05:29They'll pay for it if they're in the Microsoft suite
05:31because what's an extra, you know,
05:33million dollars a month or something for their employees.
05:35But option one is it just goes really well.
05:38Like people love it.
05:39The integration is super successful.
05:41There really aren't a ton of issues
05:42and it really boosts productivity.
05:44And there isn't a ton of downside.
05:47I personally think that's at about 10%
05:50of what is likely to happen.
05:51The next option would be option number two,
05:53which is power users love it,
05:55but your average person just doesn't understand it.
05:57They don't really find a use for it.
06:00And so they just don't use it.
06:01And so it's really just power users who are using it,
06:03who are already in the Microsoft ecosystem.
06:05And that's a good thing, right?
06:07But it's not mass adoption.
06:09Option number three is there's a big launch on May 1st.
06:12A ton of people go and sign up for it,
06:14but then they have just a ton of customer churn, right?
06:17Things aren't working right.
06:18There's a bunch of issues.
06:20It's expensive, but people want to try it out,
06:22but they find it doesn't really help their company at all.
06:24And so that would be option number three.
06:27Option or path number four is, you know,
06:29I think the funny one, which is they release it.
06:32And then within the first week,
06:33there's tons of stuff online, calling it microslop,
06:36calling it all these different things
06:37and having real use cases
06:39of just cowork doing random stuff, right?
06:42And it's a bad integration.
06:43It just doesn't work how it's supposed to work.
06:46And it goes really viral for being terrible
06:48and it just collapses.
06:50And then lastly, we have option or path number five,
06:53which is people just don't really sign up for it
06:56because they're worried about privacy.
06:57They're worried about security and regulation.
07:00And although it says it's all within, you know,
07:02Microsoft's ecosystem and all their privacy
07:05and all their security, people just don't trust it.
07:08And so they don't really sign up for it
07:09and it never gains any real type of adoption,
07:12even at that $100 price per seat.
07:15So in my personal opinion,
07:16I think we're gonna have multiple paths.
07:18I think the first path is that
07:19not an immense amount of people sign up for it.
07:22And it'll really just be for power users.
07:24I think that's gonna be how it starts, right?
07:26It's $99 a month.
07:27For a lot of companies, that can be quite expensive.
07:30Yes, you may be able to get more work done,
07:32but not every company just has that lying around.
07:34And so it's not gonna be like a mass adoption all at once.
07:37I think there's gonna be lots of kinks along the way,
07:40lots of issues, lots of little things,
07:42things getting deleted,
07:43things being sent out that shouldn't have been sent out,
07:45wrong data being pulled in from websites.
07:48And then over the years, over the next two, three, four years,
07:50it does start to get a lot better, a lot more secure,
07:53a lot more accurate with what it's doing.
07:56And then over time, it gets a little bit cheaper maybe.
07:59That's a laugh, that probably isn't gonna happen.
08:00And then there'll be more mass adoption.
08:03That's what I personally think is gonna happen.
08:05I think it's gonna be a mixture of a little bit of each.
08:07And over time, I think it will get better.
08:09Let me know what you think though,
08:11because maybe I'm wrong,
08:12but I've been using Claude Cowork myself quite a bit
08:15for the past several weeks since it launched,
08:17and I really like it, I think it's really good,
08:19but it is not 100% accurate by any means,
08:23which leads me to believe that it's not gonna be 100% accurate
08:26in Microsoft's ecosystem as well.
08:28With that being said,
08:29I hope you learned something in this video.
08:30It's really exciting for all these agentic AI stuff coming out.
08:34It's a lot going on.
08:35I'm trying to keep up with it myself.
08:37I'm trying to keep you guys updated as well.
08:39If you liked this video, be sure to like and subscribe,
08:42and I'll see you in the next one.
