00:11When you look at American history, because we're celebrating our 250th anniversary, what's kind of like the historical that you

00:19You know, that was for the Greeks, what about for us America?
00:21Well, you know, America is the land of opportunity, the land that welcomed, you know, all foreigners and all, you
00:28know, immigrants.
00:30And it was such a beautiful country because of that.
00:33And it fueled us.
00:35It's what made us the powerfullest nation in the world was all these ideas, all these innovations made by immigrants.
00:42This is a nation of immigrants.
00:43We shouldn't forget that.
00:44And we should celebrate what made us a superpower.

00:47And the similarities there, I think, are really, when I was reading it last month, I was like, wow, there's
00:52a lot there.
00:53Odyssey with what's going on.
00:54I mean, yeah, I mean, that's why the Odyssey survived 3,000 years, because it speaks to all times, speaks
01:00to the ravages of war, what happens to soldiers and veterans, what happens to the minds of these people and
01:07the loss of soldiers and the loss of civilization and the loss of your own humanity.
01:14And the Odyssey, Matt Damon is searching for his identity, too.
01:18Who is he as a man when you get to that age and the end of your life?
01:23What's been your Odyssey in terms of fighting for your identity or your Hollywood career?
01:27Well, you know, it's always been a battle.
01:28I mean, you know, Hollywood is not the most accepting place.
01:31Because even though we Latin people are 30 to 40 percent of the box office and a third of streamers,
01:37we're still not represented.
01:39We're the most underrepresented, aggressively underrepresented group in America.
01:43So that's been my Odyssey to try to bring some parity.
01:47Do you feel that fans come up to you and they thank you for, you know, shining a light?
01:51Because you're always very vocal when you talk about it.
01:53Yeah, yeah, you know, a lot of Latin people, black people, people of color, you know, come up to me
01:58and thank me for that.
01:59And they shouldn't be thanking me because everybody should be doing it.
02:01I shouldn't be the only one.
02:02Yeah, and it's been a box office resurgence.
02:04We have a cover story coming out tomorrow that says we're finally going to get back to pre-pandemic numbers
02:09this year at the box office.
02:10But, like, there was three years ago we were all like, we're not sure.

02:19I mean, Wimbledon, it's a lot to celebrate within all the evil things happening in our country.
02:26Yeah, why do you think the box office resurgence is happening now?
02:30I think because the content, we've got away from the superhero theme that got a little tired.
02:36I think we're putting things that people want to see, the young people, the older people.
02:40I mean, you're giving us content that we want, and it's original content.
