02:54Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago, and to our international audience,
02:57and of course, our brothers and sisters in Grenada.
02:59This is Beyond the Tape.
03:01I'm your host, Whitney Husbands.
03:02Now, I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend despite all the rainfall that we endured during that weekend
03:08and areas that was flooded out.
03:10I am just hoping that persons were able to be safe.
03:13Now, I also will mention, I know in the Bagpore area,
03:18I hope that they got some sort of relief because that area was flooded in the Kumutu Trace area,
03:23and it was not a nice sight to see at all.
03:28Now, as we jumpstart our week, of course, again, it's a working week for many of us,
03:33and that person to guide us on the Monday, we have none other than our host each and every Monday,
03:39we have Captain Rambarat.
03:41Good evening to you, Sue.
03:42Good evening, Whitney, and a pleasant good evening to our viewers on Beyond the Tape,
03:46and TV6 is a pleasure to be here once again when we kicked off with the weather.
03:51My information is in that Bagpore area, and I'm commonly referred to as the number five area in Bagpore,
03:59that there was a bit of flooding just isolated, or I should say localized to that area.
04:05But in terms of extensive flooding in that area, Bagpore, Penal area, it didn't materialize,
04:13even though there was a flood alert issued by the Met Office.
04:18So, you know, sometimes during the dry season, people backfill their land,
04:22and this is the first instance you will see the effects of those types of, you know, gradient at that
04:29time,
04:29that type of thing.
04:30But the flood alert has been discontinued, and let me just say that the weather prediction for tomorrow,
04:38the sunny skies will appear.
04:41You know, of course, there will be some bit of sara dust in the air tomorrow,
04:45but, you know, we always say on this program, pay attention, be weather wise, be weather conscious,
04:52and it will bring, you know, you will have a good day, whether it's rain or sun or whatsoever.
04:59But please pay attention to your weather forecast.
05:03First thing in the morning, look at it.
05:05Last thing in the evening, look at it.
05:07I've already seen the prediction for the forecast for tomorrow.
05:11Well, Captain, my anxiety is heightened, honestly, when I see a lot of rainfall,
05:15because images like that I really don't like to see, because, of course, it places persons in an inconvenience.
05:21Yeah, we don't like to see that.
05:22I hate to see it, you know.
05:24Yeah.
05:24And then I have to go through that whole process of cleaning up.
05:27Cleaning up.
05:27And trying to get things back.
05:29They may have lost items in their home.
05:31Yeah.
05:31So, you know, to the families who have to go through this.
05:33Yeah, we say, you know, we sympathize with the situation you're in.
05:38Yes.
05:39And, you know, they call the regional corporation for assistance,
05:42and, you know, they may bring some relief supplies to you.
05:45Our team is trained to get out there as well, and we looked at it,
05:49and so it was localized to maybe one or two houses in that Komoto South area.
05:54That was the report that came in to us.
05:57But before we go further, we must talk football a bit, World Cup is in the air.
06:03The four best teams that are on FIFA ranking are in the semifinals,
06:08and I know tomorrow's game is like a World Cup final.
06:12Well, I don't know about, I would say three best teams.
06:15You could leave one out.
06:17All right.
06:18But you know how that goes.
06:18I do agree with that.
06:19I'm just saying.
06:20Right.
06:21So, the thing is, we have a game tomorrow that will probably qualify as a World Cup final.
06:27France versus Spain.
06:28They did square off in the Euros as an intense rivalry.
06:32However, in the accumulated games, Spain is on top in terms of games versus France.
06:41France, but France is in ribbon form.
06:43As you know, they have three good players in the front of the guiding, the front part of
06:51the team, the team, Dembele, Mbappe, and Ulysse, and you know, it's a pleasure to watch them play football.
07:01Spanish, Spain has been known for its fortified defense.
07:05I think they've just conceded one goal in this tournament.
07:09Yes, ma'am.
07:10So, it's going to be an attacking team going against a very defensive team, and that all
07:14goes well for football.
07:16Well, let's see how it goes, because you know how people may feel with this one, and could
07:20we see a change?
07:22Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:22A lot of people will love to see France and England face off, so.
07:27In the final?
07:29Correct.
07:29All right.
07:30So, yes, wishing everybody who is viewing that your team in the last four succeeds, because
07:37we're going to start a whole thing.
07:39You can see our group chat.
07:40Yes.
07:40You can see our group chat when games are on.
07:43It's a real peacock flying left, right, and center, but we enjoy it.
07:46Yes.
07:47Yes.
07:47So, some of them already decorated me in Messi's jersey, yeah?
07:53Yes.
07:53They did that.
07:54So, just a true pecan at each other.
07:57Yes.
07:58Yes.
07:58And just a quick reminder to the motorists out there, we beg you, please, to be extra careful
08:03on the nation's roads, all right?
08:04We have more to dive into, but let's go straight into our mission.
08:07Yes.
08:07So, I want to just speak to the two missions we had this week, and this week gone, and you
08:13know, sometimes we are a team, we are a professional outfit, and one of the things we do is we
08:20respond,
08:21and sometimes we get the stress calls from family, and we respond, and sometimes, you know,
08:27the outcome is not one, and I'm not talking about a bad outcome, but the thing, you know,
08:35could have been handled differently.
08:36The first mission we had was that Lohan Sukhdeo, age 40, from Endeavor Road, in Shabonas, we
08:44received a distress call from his family that both him and his weaker went missing last Saturday.
08:51Saturday evening, we had to pull members out from their homes, you know, to get out there
08:57and interact with the family to find out what was going on, and by Sunday morning, we were
09:03going to obtain footage of this gentleman by a friend's home.
09:07Yes.
09:07We had to actually engage the anti-kidnapping unit to ask him to go to the friend's home
09:13and get him, and so, you know, what we do not like about these things is that sometimes,
09:20you know, you want to go and cool your head, you want to be away from your family, all's
09:24well and good, but you need to inform somebody, because you have to pull members out of the
09:30comfort of their homes to go out there, and when they go out there, they prepare to go
09:35all night, you have to provide resources, this is a team that makes sure, ensures that
09:41our team is catered for when they go out, and such as these men need hot coffee, they
09:45don't know when they're coming back, they need hot meals, they need gasoline, they need
09:49everything to be prepared to go the distance, and so he did return home, but just we want
09:59to urge persons that when you want to cool your head, please inform something, you don't
10:05want to tell your family, inform a friend, so immediately they see the postal up, they
10:12will call and say, hey, he's alright, he's by me, he's well taken care of, he's safe, he's
10:16alive, no need to go out there and search for him, and then we had a second term mission,
10:23so the Trinidad and Tobago police service requested our services, they received a distress call,
10:29that a young man age 15 had spotted a baby's body, in the Marabella River, Whitney we were
10:39there promptly, I know, when I received the call members, were in that water within 20 minutes,
10:47right, and there it is, we were searching the entire, now it was a 1km stretch, the search,
10:54because the guys, when they moved down river for the first time, they encountered a blockage,
11:00so that nothing floating could have passed through, and then, so, and they searched that
11:071km for about 6 times, his bare feet walking, there's a skin on his foot, there's a skin,
11:13yeah, I will tell you the importance of that, sometimes we put on the skin in rivers, for
11:19feeling purposes, you wouldn't feel with the boots, so it's a rough, it's a tough skin that
11:24some members opt to put on, I will always go in with my boots, alright, here is the boy's
11:31brother who saw the thing, this is his brother, and later on in the evening, about half 10pm
11:40the night, the police met with the team, and indicated to the team that what the boy said
11:47he saw was a baby floating without no hands, no feet, and the chest was opened up.
11:54What?
11:55And immediately, I said to the team, a human being, whether baby or adult, when floating,
12:02always floating water back up.
12:05Okay.
12:06Alright, like this.
12:07On the sum up.
12:08You don't ever get them floating like this, they always get them, and so, the search was
12:13called off at 11pm that night, based on information provided by the police.
12:18But what I would say, Captain, is that regardless of, you know, the outcome here, meaning,
12:24you all didn't find anything.
12:26It seems like a false alarm.
12:28Yes.
12:29The prompt actions of the team.
12:33Yes.
12:33And you know the thing is, you have to go.
12:35You have no other choice but to get out there.
12:37I mean, I don't think there has ever been a case where we turn down the TTPS, right?
12:45That is one thing we do.
12:46We respond to their cause immediately.
12:49So, those were the two missions we had for last week.
12:54And, you know, the first one bothers me where, you know, people go to cool out their heads
13:01and they have problems and, you know, they cause distress to the families.
13:05So, we urge persons trying not to engage either the TTPS or our resources in those cases.
13:12Link with a friend.
13:13You must have a friend.
13:14Yes, first.
13:15So, it suggests that in 24 hours, if the person does not show up, then you make a report?
13:21Yes.
13:22It does what is, that is what is the TTPS, well, the TTPS has changed.
13:30Okay.
13:30So, there is no longer the 24 hour limit.
13:33But they have, that was imposed for a reason, so that relatives could really get out there and
13:39check friends.
13:39But they are sometimes, when you have to write flag a case and say, we need to get out there
13:44immediately.
13:45Now, history has shown us that when a person and a vehicle go missing, that you have to
13:52pay attention to that.
13:53Okay.
13:54Immediately.
13:54And, therefore, you can't wait 20 forwards.
13:57You have to get out there and begin searching immediately.
14:00So, I hope that, as Captain said, if you need to clear your head, let a family member or a
14:05friend or someone who may know that you're okay.
14:08Even if you don't want to give the exact location, at least try your best to be wise when you're
14:13doing that, because you don't want to exhaust the resources that are there.
14:16Now, we were speaking of the heavy rainfall over the weekend, Captain, and we always stress
14:22on this to the motorists, please take your time.
14:25This is the reason why.
14:26And not just when the road is wet, especially when the road is wet, yes, but all the time.
14:31Yes, all the time.
14:33And I see on social media a number of accidents when rain falls.
14:38Now, so let's see what's the proper thing to do when rain is falling.
14:44Now, first of all, you should reduce the speed, you should ensure that you have proper vision,
14:50that your wipers are working properly front and back glass, and that your side mirrors are clear.
14:57Okay.
14:57I don't know if your experiences, your side mirrors tend to have beads.
15:02To get warm.
15:02Yes, of course.
15:03Beads of water on it.
15:04And many times, I have to wind, put the glass down, take my cloth and wipe it, and at least
15:12get clear vision on my end of the mirror, my driver's end.
15:16No babies, skin, smooth tires.
15:18Yes.
15:19You look at your tires, and also, listen, drive for yourself.
15:26Don't drive with others.
15:27Somebody could be popping you behind to drive faster.
15:31Don't take them.
15:31Let them pass.
15:32Drive for yourself.
15:35So, when I see these images, I am saying we have to get back to the basics, and we have
15:43to learn how to drive in rainy weather.
15:48Yes.
15:48I agree.
15:49The video, the producer just showed.
15:52The guy lost control in bad weather.
15:54Total control.
15:54Total control.
15:55And went to the other side of the highway.
15:58Yes.
15:58Bounced around.
15:59Yes.
16:00And the engine authorized that have been a child walking there, or a family walking
16:06there, and all this was unnecessary.
16:09So, we've seen a lot of accidents.
16:13In fact, I believe it was on Saturday on my way home.
16:16I came across a very, very bad accident on the road, and I could tell it was speeding,
16:24and I could tell the weather was raining.
16:27I saw one as well on Sunday, so I know how it is, and it seems like persons tend to
16:32drive
16:32a little more reckless when rain is falling.
16:36Yeah.
16:37I don't know why.
16:38I don't know why.
16:39I really don't.
16:39I think we need to slow down.
16:42We have to practice and retrain ourselves.
16:45Yes.
16:45When rain is falling, please take your time on the roads, and drive with others in mind.
16:52Yes.
16:52Now, we always stand here almost every day, and ask our viewers and the citizens of Trinidad
16:57and Tobago to continue making yourself a hard target, and be aware of your surroundings,
17:03and pay attention at all times.
17:05This is the reason why.
17:06Take a look at this video.
17:09Now, Captain, you're seeing here this happened in the El Cico area where a business woman was
17:13robbed, and this has been on social media circulating, and you know you're not the wiser, you're in
17:17a space of comfort, you're not assuming that anything may happen.
17:21Yeah.
17:21So all your guards are down.
17:23Yes.
17:23Right?
17:24And in this case, you know you're not aware who is really watching you, and the reason
17:29why, I always say regardless of where you are, you must always pay attention, because
17:34you will see a vehicle will approach shortly, and this is what was alarming to me.
17:40They saw the vehicle coming in, and no one, like, raised an alarm of anything.
17:45So I'm seeing a vehicle entering there.
17:47Who this vehicle belongs to?
17:49No one is paying attention to that vehicle.
17:52No.
17:52Because they're not the wiser, and then you have children with you.
17:55I mean, it's something that my daughter gets upset with me with, but I try to let her
18:00move out of the car as quickly as possible.
18:02Yeah.
18:02Try and gather all your things quickly, and let us get out.
18:07You know, it's sad, but that's the reality.
18:09Now you will see the vehicle approaching, where the young lady is now seeing these individuals
18:14coming out, but that vehicle was there while they were taking out their items.
18:18Their items, and nobody paid attention to that vehicle.
18:20We were seeing the front of the vehicle for a while, while they were just going about their
18:26business.
18:28This is, this is just the steven.
18:31So it means that they were being monitored.
18:34Yes.
18:34They were being monitored, and they were none the less wiser as was going on.
18:41And here it is, they were taken, literally ambushed by these men.
18:46This is so scary.
18:47This is so scary.
18:49Because all the vehicle pulled in, I mean, the camera is not going to show that angle
18:52there.
18:53Yeah.
18:53But there's an angle where you would see the vehicle was, you know, you see?
18:56Yeah.
18:57And that is when they jumped out the vehicle.
18:58That is when they jumped out the vehicle.
19:01So we're asking viewers to make yourselves hard targets, be careful.
19:06I was on the road one day, and I saw a white van following me for a while.
19:11I paid attention to it, and then it stopped off somewhere in the road.
19:15Yes.
19:15You did the right thing.
19:15So I continue to do those things.
19:18I monitor who is behind me at all times.
19:20And if it's the same vehicle, I will have my phone on speed dialed at the nearest police
19:26station, or one of my colleagues, teammates in Hunter Search and Rescue Team, and we will
19:33take action.
19:34We know how to protect ourselves.
19:36But I have to be vigilant at all times.
19:39And that is not just you.
19:40That is all of us.
19:41All of us.
19:42We are living in a sad state right now, so it is necessary for us to do so to protect
19:46ourselves.
19:47And what hurts many most is that we traumatize our children, meaning these individuals doing
19:52that.
19:52They will be traumatized for life.
19:53For life.
19:54For life.
19:55They will have that experience, that trauma to carry with them for a while.
19:59And these demons are okay about children?
20:01Of course not.
20:02Of course not.
20:03They don't have a conscience.
20:04It doesn't matter.
20:04And I will tell you something, if there is a firearm involved, right, they will use
20:09it.
20:09Yes.
20:10To safeguard themselves.
20:11Yes.
20:12Alright, they will use it.
20:13So please make yourself hard targets.
20:17Yes.
20:17Right now it's time for us to take a look at what's making our SOE update as of July 13th,
20:222026.
20:24Number of operations, 9,476.
20:28Number of targets prior to offenders, 2,584.
20:32Searches conducted, 3,696.
20:36Traffic operations, 5,833.
20:39Total persons arrested, 4,240.
20:43Total persons charged, 1,039.
20:48Firearms recovered, we're seeing an increase with the pistols giving us a total of 225.
20:54Ammunition recovered, we're seeing an increase once again with the 9 mm, also with the 0.45
21:00and a total of 4,157.
21:04Dangerous drug sees, we're seeing an increase in cannabis and cocaine and grams of methamphetamine.
21:11Captain?
21:12Yes, so I'm seeing with the number of persons arrested and the number of persons charged,
21:18it's approximately 25% of those who were arrested were able to face the courts, I guess based on evidence
21:26and whatnot.
21:26So, we have to take note of that in the sense that, well at least they have been arrested and
21:33you have 25% of those being charged.
21:36Alright, right now it's time for us to take a look at what's making our headlines.
21:40Thank you very much.
21:41Thank you very much.
22:24And those are your stories making headlines.
22:27We're seeing a lot of robberies and drug seizures from the TTPS and of course you could give us a
22:32call at 623-1711,
22:33extension 1996 and 1997.
22:36When we return, we'll be back.
22:51New Maybelline Serum Lipstick.
22:53Maybe it's not just lipstick.
22:55It's serum infused lush color with a hyaluronic acid and oil blend.
22:59For 8-hour plumping moisture, New Maybelline Serum Lipstick.
23:03Maybe it's Maybelline.
23:06Who has a story about Odysseus?
23:11You?
23:12You?
23:12You?
23:12You have a story?
23:26No one could stand between me and home.
23:29Not even the gods.
23:31The Odyssey.
23:32The Odyssey.
23:35The Odyssey.
23:36The Odyssey.
23:44The Odyssey.
23:54The Odyssey.
24:00Maybe you could afford to pay up to $22,500 in fines and lose your license permanently.
24:08No?
24:09Then don't drink and drive.
24:12A message from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
24:26And welcome back. Now, if you're now joining us, of course, we have Captain Rambarat here with us.
24:31And we're getting ready to find out what is going on with missing persons today.
24:35Let us know what's happening. Any good news?
24:37Well, the thing about missing persons, I'll give you the July report we have thus far.
24:43But the thing is, it's keeping like one per day, back up to one per day from, you know, earlier
24:49on in the year when it had dropped.
24:51Yes, I know that you said that period.
24:53But it's picking up towards one per month.
24:57And as I said, you know, this is a critical time for especially young teenage years to go missing.
25:04And we received 11 reports thus far for July.
25:09And out of those 11s, we were able to locate seven, therefore, who are still outstanding.
25:15Now, Captain, quickly, what causes, as I said, a certain period where we see a lot of missing girls in
25:21particular?
25:22Why is that?
25:23Well, now is the end of CSEC Form 5.
25:26You have two months in front of you.
25:29And sometimes, you know, they're at home alone, parents working.
25:33They're not at school.
25:34And they get on their phones and on these dating apps and whatnot.
25:40And a lot of things take place there.
25:43And it results in some of them who, you know, go on their own trips.
25:47It's not only that alone.
25:50It could be also young girls running from different types of abuse.
25:55And, you know, I always say some homes are so dysfunctional that the home is not a nice place to
26:03be.
26:03And, therefore, anybody who dangles a little carrot on the other end, it seems to be safer.
26:10And the grass is greener on the other side.
26:13And sometimes, they get themselves.
26:15They're young.
26:16They don't have the experience.
26:18And they get themselves.
26:20They go there and they get themselves.
26:21That's a predator.
26:22And we get a predator or someone who is sexually grooming them.
26:27And it's rather unfortunate.
26:29And we've been doing a lot of outreach programs to schools.
26:33And the topic is spoken about.
26:38I think Hunter's Search and Rescue Team has done a great job at bringing the information to the public.
26:44And there is an awareness.
26:47So, sometimes when we see the numbers go down, we're happy that it's working.
26:51But then there are times, you know, they have critical times.
26:53And now is the time between now and August.
26:59We will see a spike.
27:01And then, hopefully, you know, on things like celebratory times, we get an increase.
27:07Carnival 0.14 boroughs.
27:09They want to be free.
27:10They want to be outside.
27:12So, you know, spring break was another one.
27:14Yes.
27:15It happens.
27:16It happens in all countries throughout the world.
27:19I follow the developments all through the world.
27:22It's consistent.
27:24It's something that occurs throughout the world.
27:27So, let us know where we are now.
27:28And so, we still have four persons outstanding.
27:31And this is one I highlighted last Monday.
27:34And she is Natanya Nothingham, a 13-year-old.
27:40She has now come on our radar for the first time.
27:43And she has been missing since the 5th of July.
27:47And she's from the Arema District.
27:49And she still has not been located.
27:51So, if you have information, please call the Arema Police Station on 999-555-800-TIPS.
28:00So, you can call our team at 799-1453.
28:05And when the 13-year-olds go missing, we are worried.
28:09Yes.
28:09Because you don't know if this is the beginning of a trend.
28:13We've tracked children from 13 to 16.
28:17And within that space of time, they go missing 8, 10 times.
28:21So, we don't know if this is the beginning of a sequence of events for Natanya and Nottingham.
28:25For a 13-year-old, you need to leave at home.
28:27It has to be terrible.
28:29Yeah.
28:30And, you know, there is always the option for parents to take their children before the family court.
28:38Explain to the court what are the problems.
28:41And the court will ask, you know, if it is you need an intervention for your child to be placed
28:48in one of these state homes.
28:50Where, you know, they are trained, they are disciplined at these homes.
28:55And, you know, you have that option.
28:58But it's not always the option of putting them in a home.
29:03Whitney, if you are a parent and you have a troublesome teenager, you could go before the court.
29:10And that the court impose curfew on your children.
29:13So, you will have a court-imposed curfew.
29:16So that even though they are still in your care, the court says that the latest you should be home
29:22is 6 p.m.
29:23And you are not allowed to go anywhere until 6 a.m. in the morning.
29:27Does that really detail?
29:28But there is a court order.
29:30And you know that if the order is breached, you can call the police to go pick them up and
29:35face the court again.
29:36Anyway, harsher restrictions on your movements would occur.
29:43And this is how it works.
29:44So it's not just a matter of going to a home.
29:47You approach the court, let them know of the problems, and they will come up with some solutions.
29:53And turn it into a court order.
29:57So your children have to try to obey those others.
30:01Of course, you meet children.
30:02Oh, yeah, we don't care.
30:04And less doesn't even matter.
30:06Yeah, and then you have Gregory Caprieta.
30:08He is still missing, age 73.
30:10We are in touch with his relatives.
30:13He is from the Arima district.
30:15He went missing on the same date as Natania, the 5th of July, 2026.
30:21So we haven't been able to pick up with him.
30:24There has been no sighting of Gregory Caprieta.
30:27So if it is you cite Gregory Caprieta, please contact the Arima police station.
30:34800 tips, 999-555 or our team at 799-1453.
30:42And again, with me, you know, the issue of the elderly and the fact that they go missing because of
30:49aging disorders.
30:52Alzheimer's, Alzheimer's, different, they are different, they are on the agent's, sorry, dementia spectrum.
31:02They are different places.
31:03And you have to take them to the medical institutions to have them diagnosed so you'll know how to deal
31:09with the problems they are suffering.
31:11Just don't dismiss them.
31:13They have diagnostic, they have places for them to be diagnosed.
31:20And the government spends a lot of money on it.
31:23And please make use of those resources.
31:26Nikala Lee, within the last month, she went missing from Palo Seco and she was found.
31:33We got a report that she was in, I think, yes, Arima.
31:39And we had to call the Arima police to take her up and take her to the Arima Health Facility.
31:47Now her mental health is compromised.
31:49Oh, okay, because that's the age.
31:51Yeah, her mental health is compromised.
31:53And she was treated and taken home to Palo Seco by her relatives.
32:00Now, something would have gone wrong.
32:03I understand that I don't know if medication ran out.
32:08I was speaking to her aunt.
32:11And Nikala has moved or gone somewhere.
32:16So support has been missing.
32:18Now, Nikala tends to use the public transport system, PTSD.
32:25The last time someone spotted her was in the City Gate area.
32:29So if you see Nikala Lee anywhere, most likely in the East West Corridor, please call your nearest police station,
32:39800-TIPS-999-555 or work him at 799-1453.
32:46Her aunt is in constant contact with me.
32:50And then we have Robert Jose Flores Gonzalez from Conopia.
32:56And he went missing since the 28th of June.
33:01Now, we only received this report today.
33:03But the family is alleging that he was kidnapped and they made a report to the Conopia police station.
33:09So we're asking persons, if you know Robert Gonzalez, Venezuelan national from Conopia, if you have information, please contact the
33:21Conopia police station.
33:23Or you could call us at 799-1453, message us, and let's see if you could get any information which
33:30could help, which could assist in us locating Robert Gonzalez.
33:35So one of the problems with the Venezuelans, with us, too, although we have interpreters on the team, is that
33:43communication issue.
33:44Yes.
33:45So you know the person who is communicating with you.
33:48We do use one of the migrant workers as a go-between to assist with communication.
33:55So we do have a relationship with the Venezuelan community in terms of when persons go missing.
34:02Yes.
34:03All right.
34:03Just a reminder to all the persons that we saw missing, if anyone has any information, we ask you, please,
34:08you could contact 799-1453.
34:11Or you could contact 555-999 or 800-TIPS.
34:16We need to take that break.
34:17When we come back, we'll continue with more.

35:17What you can see from this image is a man lying in a pool of blood in his living room.
35:23He was shot dead a short while ago as two bandits tried to rob him and his family.
35:29What you can't hear is his wife crying inconsolably.
35:33What you don't know is that his four-year-old daughter is standing looking at her father, confused, begging him
35:39to wake up.
35:40Can you imagine what this wife and child are going through and what they will have to go through?
35:45They try to process what has happened.
35:48How can we begin to help?
35:49We can start right here at the Victim and Witness Support Unit.
35:53From investigation to counseling.
35:56To helping families find justice.
35:59To helping families find peace.
36:02This unit gives victims and witnesses hope to cope.
36:06We are the Victim and Witness Support Unit.
36:09Bridging the service gap between the victims, witnesses and the police.
36:27And we are back.
36:28Remember, you can give us a call at 623-1711, extension 1996 or 1997.
36:34We have Captain Rambarat here with us.
36:36And, of course, just some quick information for those of you in the southern side of Trinidad.
36:42And it's all about the TTPS town meeting for Thursday the 16th of July in the Southern Division at the
36:49Gasparillo Police Station District Conference Room.
36:522nd Floor Gasparillo Mall, Bon Aventure Road in Gasparillo from 6 p.m.
36:58Now, remember, if you need to get more information, you can check out their socials from their Facebook, Instagram X.
37:04And also, there's a WhatsApp that you could communicate with them.
37:08But please, we ask you, if you're in that district, if you're in that area, to show up.
37:13See who are the officers that are there.
37:15Let them know some of your concerns.
37:16And also, if you have any tips that you could give them, why not to help make sure that your
37:21community is a safer place.
37:24Now, Captain, there is a video that I'm going to show you and, of course, the nation and those who
37:28are locked on internationally and regionally as well.
37:31Now, this was not in Trinidad and Tobago.
37:33And it just goes to show that when you are looking to hurt or harm someone, to take someone that
37:38does not belong to you,
37:39you just don't know who else is looking.
37:45So, we can see here, Captain, that this, again, I have to call them demons, show up and people are
37:52working hard.
37:53But, you know what, I need to take what belongs to me.
37:56Right.
37:56And pay attention to what's happening here with the gentleman who has the hat on, which is in the back
38:02of the gentleman in the red t-shirt that's wearing the black hat.
38:07Not paying attention, like the man was fed up.
38:09Remember, he started looking for something while he's focused on what he came for, that is his own.
38:14Remember, he came to collect.
38:15Came to.
38:15Yeah.
38:16The money that they are working for is his.
38:19Yes.
38:19Even though he doesn't really own the place.
38:21But unaware that this gentleman had enough for them.
38:26Now, take a look to the far left of the screen.
38:33Yeah.
38:34Licks.
38:36Licks.
38:37And whatever he found in his store, it worked.
38:40But he's trying now to get the firearm away.
38:42But he's trying now to get the firearm.
38:43Licks.
38:43Yes.
38:44And the cashier has joined in.
38:46Yes.
38:46I was wondering about the guy in the red if he was part of it.
38:49But he seems to be just being innocent by standard.
38:54They get shocked, I guess.
38:54But look at it.
38:55The gentleman who made this intervention.
39:00Yeah, he's still trying to get the firearm in.
39:02That's what's going on there.
39:03He's trying to get away.
39:06But I guess this person didn't want to get involved in any way.
39:10Oh, he looks frightened.
39:12He looks frightened.
39:13Compared to being involved.
39:15Yeah.
39:16But the girl had more cooters than him.
39:19Yes, certainly because she recognized that the gentleman there was assisting and it was
39:25an opportunity and he needed help and she assisted.
39:30So great work.
39:31And you're correct.
39:31You never know who's looking on.
39:33You never know who's looking on.
39:34He was smarter.
39:36Yes.
39:36He acted smarter.
39:37He observed.
39:38He probably took a minute to contemplate what he would do.
39:43He came up with a plan.
39:45He found a weapon.
39:46And the weapon seemed effective.
39:49And he stayed on and he knew that he had to disarm him.
39:53Yes.
39:54He knew he had to disarm him.
39:55He knew he had to disarm him.
39:55So he would say, waddup, waddup.
39:57That's what he got.
39:59A waddup, waddup.
39:59Whoosh, what are my favorites so far?
40:02No, I'm just.
40:03Rest in peace, continue to rest in peace.
40:06Yes, most definitely.
40:07Now, we have some information from the TTPS media release yesterday.
40:10And as we mentioned in the headlines that we were seeing, that they were very busy with
40:15not just the seizure of drugs, but also ammunition.
40:19Now, a penal man was arrested after officers seized a firearm and ammunition during an intelligence-led
40:25anti-crime exercise in the district on Saturday night at approximately 7.46 p.m.
40:32On Sunday, 12 July 2026, officers attached to the Southwestern Division Task Force acted on information
40:39received at persons attending a birthday party along the low-key trace penal with possession
40:46of illegal firearms.
40:47Upon arrival, officers entered the secured premises where approximately 20 persons were gathered.
40:54During a search of the property, officers found a wrong side-strapped bag containing a glock-type
41:01prohibited firearm fitted with a magazine loaded with 17 rungs of 9mm ammunition.
41:07Subsequent inquiries led to the identification of a 33-year-old man of St. Village Penal who claimed
41:16ownership of the bag and its contents.
41:19When questioned, he said that he was not the holder of a firearm user's license, firearm user's
41:25employee certificate, nor was he exempt under the Firearms Act.
41:30He was arrested for possession of prohibited firearm and possession of ammunition and conveyed
41:35to the Separiot Police Station where investigations are continuing.
41:40Well done to the officers at the Penal Police Station.
41:43Yes, yes, yes.
41:44This area is one area that they must continue to pay attention to.
41:49We know the area well.
41:50And we know they could enter an SOE.
41:52Yes.
41:52So it is not where they could enter somebody's property like that.
41:55Yes, exactly.
41:56And kudos to the police.
41:57Yes.
41:58You are doing your jobs down there in Penal.
42:00Yes.
42:01Busy.
42:01Yes, they are busy.
42:02Keep them busy.
42:03Because, you know, I always say, you know, Penal is one of the areas you have to pay attention.
42:09Some too, yes.
42:09We always stress that.
42:11We always say that.
42:12And you hit the target there in a particular trees, low-key trees.
42:18Yes.
42:18Keep doing your jobs right there.
42:20And right around there.
42:21All right.
42:22Wood up.
42:23Hello.
42:24We'll be back.

44:56did receive
44:57a recognition award based on um an outreach program that we did at that school and i tell you something
45:04i will always remember that outreach program and you know you could have you could have understood why
45:11we would have gotten a recognition award from the school and um at the same time at that school i
45:17i just want to say that the feedback that i got is that the feature speaker is our co-host
45:23on beyond the
45:24community besides a higher alley yes he was there policy and community um community support in the
45:34in the ministry of homeland security i understand he delivered an excellent feature address as i just
45:40wanted that surprise at all thanks but um the the recognition award you know the day after
45:47we received that award we got a call out to that said school to remove a juvenile a juvenile red
45:56tail
45:56ball constrictor so you know i am sure you know the school continued to work with us and they will
46:02call
46:02us back from time to time so you know it was nice receiving the award from from this school well
46:08deserved because you can continue to contribute to the society in a major way and the recognition is
46:14important is one of our best sessions interactive sessions we had with a school where you are dying
46:20from two streets and fours it was a large gathering very disciplined well organized event as you continue
46:27to give back not just through closure to families but you continue to clean up oh yeah we had we
46:32had we had an
46:34exercise in queen anne beach and you know the the ambassador china's ambassador to trinidad tobago ren hong
46:42yang contacted me and indicated an interest he's been just he's been here for just four months first
46:49time in south trinidad and he wanted to be there see him in the middle there it was a large
46:54turnout
46:54here's us walking on the beach um he asked a lot of questions about our south coast and how close

48:33um the the grip on the
48:35boots and it's sturdy and my feet is well cushioned inside that field i could wear that holy now captain
48:44how
48:44important is it for adults to teach children the importance of keeping the environment clean
48:51it's very important and let's see the the track record we have in trend that and and to be with
48:57not
48:57a good one yes terrible behavior behavioral um saying that we have to change so when you visit other
49:04countries you see that they keep this right into me i mean they keep their environments but
49:09in cleanliness people there they take more pride important in their space yes clean environment is
49:17linked to their their their economic um you know development of the island and their incomes and so
49:24they understand it in trinidad and tobigo we have a long way to go we've tried it on our schools
49:31and at some point in time i don't know what happens i was coming i'm coming up to the studio
49:37and i'm passing through a road and i'm seeing fresh garbage just through like somebody passed
49:43open the trunk just throw the garbage on the road and bust it so we have to go a long
49:49way but it's
49:49important for our children to come out and all we had a lot of children there so that's how we
49:53pass on
49:54yes habit of keeping the environment well said we have a call on the line caller good evening
50:01good evening
50:32good evening
50:33So I'm going to say, okay, what are you going to do today?
50:41I mean, when it comes to the ground, we're going to play in court against us.
50:47Right?
50:47We're going to go back to the Catholic.
50:49We're going to come to the shift.
50:53We're going to take care of these young people.
51:12Right, and you seem to be an educator as well.
51:15And thanks very much, Paula, for raising the issue.
51:19I've been one of trying to try with these young men and women,
51:24no matter what trouble they get into.
51:27But the reality of the situation, as you speak about the cognitive thinking,
51:34their cognition, the real issue is that if you avoid the education system,
51:43there is little likelihood that you will increase your cognitive ability
51:49and become a critical thinker.
51:51If you talk to these young men out there, we meet them regularly.
51:56They feel to be street smart?
51:58Is it?
51:59And that is what they will get by.
52:01And no amount of attempt to point them in a different direction works.
52:08That's one.
52:08And the second thing is that they evade all forms of officialdom.
52:14So if you go to approach them, they will go back into their hole and say,
52:19listen, we have a program, I assume, and a staff of Homeland Security
52:24doing something as constituency, the Barbarina course.
52:28Right?
52:29But there will still be these young men who avoid all these efforts.
52:34I agree.
52:35For training and for them to build up their cognitive ability.
52:38What they are, what they remain really, is that they remain under the gang's control
52:45and they lose any sense of that conscious, conscious, being conscious of anything.
52:55And that is why they can harm children, they can harm anyone.
52:57Consciousness has been removed.
52:58Once they get what you have, that's all that they want.
53:02And we notice it.
53:03They take risks.
53:05We see police shootouts and young men just being shot there lying down on the streets.
53:11Yeah, they don't care.
53:12They have no care in the world.
53:14But, and that tells you, what it turns out to be, what police service is up against.
53:19Right?
53:20It's not an individual who is thinking through things logically and who went to school
53:26and who learned right from wrong and who practiced, you know, something that was, you know,
53:32of educational virtue to them.
53:34They didn't.
53:35They avoided school.
53:36And, and, and, and, and, you know, I spoke about dysfunctional homes.
53:41Sometimes it comes from that.
53:42The parents don't care about education.
53:43Passes on.
53:44It doesn't matter.
53:45Yeah.
53:45And so, therefore, that cognitive ability to think through things,
53:50scholars like you and I and Whitney, they just don't have it.
53:55They see just what's in front of them.
53:57And that's it.
53:57Any moment.
53:58I have to get it.
53:58I know how to get it.
54:00And that's it.
54:01Regardless of the consequences.
54:02If we, if my life is lost.
54:04So what?
54:05So what?
54:05And that's sad.
54:06Now, let's take on the front, turn here, the geoscientists.
54:11Oh yes.
54:11And we were able to go to the political area.
54:15Let us know more.
54:16Oh yes.
54:16So, you know, last Monday.
54:18Yes.
54:18And we saw, you showed us.
54:19Yes.
54:20And there's us there.
54:21On the little volcanic island that erupted simultaneously.
54:27Well, Xavier Moonan, we took three geoscientists.
54:30Yes.
54:30And they're my good friends.
54:31They belong.
54:32They are, they, they, they, they, they are, they, they are close to our team.
54:36So that is Cassia, Babula, Xavier Moonan there with Koroa.
54:40And this is Daniel Belfort.
54:42So we were happy to get the three of them to go with us.
54:45Neil Sokran is the person who went for the first time, remember, I guided.
54:49Yes.
54:50To wear this one.
54:51And we've nicknamed the island after him.
54:55Really?
54:55Volcanic.
54:56Mud Volcanic.
54:57But it got bigger though.
54:59Yes.
54:59Than what he showed.
55:00Because he was just on the side, you know.
55:02Right.
55:02He didn't go up to the top that day.
55:05So what the geoscientists explained to us quickly is that it's a mud expulsion.
55:11The Santa Flora fault runs, is about a kilometer away.
55:16And the stress from the earthquake would have caused some bit of mud expulsion to come through.
55:22So it's not active, it's not really a volcano.
55:24No, it's not a volcano at all.
55:26But it would have been from a stress on the fault somewhere there.
55:29And mud was extruded.
55:30Now inside there, what Xavier was explaining to us is that there are boulders that are millions of years old.
55:39It came from probably about 30,000 feet below the surface.
55:43And this happens when, you know, there's stress on the fault.
55:48Will this ever deteriorate at any point in time?
55:50And yes, at some point in time, because there's mud, it will erode and go.
55:55Because I was thinking.
55:56The occurrence of 1911 in Chatham, 1911, where one of these islands arose in the sea.
56:05I was named Wilkie's Island because Sergeant Wilkie from the Iranian police station was the first person to climb onto
56:12the island.
56:12So because Neil was the first person to walk out there and get to the island, we call it Neil's
56:18Mud Volcano.
56:19It will disappear in the next few days, we know that.
56:22Oh, interesting.
56:23Because it's essentially mud, I will continue to erode and so forth.
56:27But, you know, things like this, we make sure we get the geoscientists.
56:32We say I'm not an authority on it.
56:34Yes.
56:34But this is a beautiful sight to see.
56:36And it's not that deep.
56:37It's not that deep.
56:38Of course, you would have enjoyed that.
56:40You would have covered yourself with mud.
56:41Why not?
56:42You make a good feast mask.
56:44Yes, I was taking that.
56:45Yes.
56:46For sure.
56:46Now, Captain, as usual, we like to thank you so much for being here with us.
56:50And we appreciate the hard work, not just yourself, but your entire team continues to do.
56:54And without asking of anything, you're just showing up and we appreciate everything that you continue to do.
57:01Much appreciated, Whitney, and we urge our viewers, please practice safety at all times.
57:09All times.
57:09Whether you're in your homes, on your roads, or anywhere you go, make yourself a hard time.
57:13And it's that simple.
57:14Guys, we get ready for news up next at 7.
57:16We'll be back tomorrow where ASP Russell will be joining us.
57:19Be safe.
57:20God bless.
57:21We're out.
57:32God bless.
57:33God bless.
57:36God bless.
57:36God bless.
57:38God bless.
57:38God bless.
57:38God bless.
57:39God bless.
57:40God bless.
57:40God bless.
57:40God bless.
57:41God bless.
57:41You
