00:00Just days after the powerful earthquake struck Venezuela, a four-member delegation from the
00:06concerned Muslims of Trinidad and Tobago traveled to the affected areas to assess the immediate
00:12and long-term needs of survivors. Working alongside international humanitarian partners,
00:18Helping Hands USA and Muslim Hands UK, the local organization launched its Venezuela
00:25disaster and emergency relief project just two days after the disaster. The first phase of the
00:32operation saw the purchase and distribution of food supplies within Venezuela providing 500 food
00:38hampers valued at approximately 20,000 US dollars to families impacted by the earthquake. The
00:45organization says distributing supplies in Lageria proved challenging, with large crowds gathering
00:52as volunteers worked to ensure the aid reached those most in need. Despite the difficult conditions,
00:59the team successfully completed the distribution with support from its international partners.
01:04The Trinidad and Tobago delegation comprises Secretary Manwar Ali, Director Imam Shaul Ali and member Imran
01:12Ali. Planning is already underway for phase two of the relief effort which will see containers of
01:19humanitarian supplies including food, hygiene products and building materials shipped to Venezuela in the
01:25coming weeks. The organization is appealing to the public to support the emergency relief project
01:31through donations to help provide continued assistance to earthquake victims. Concerned Muslims of Trinidad
01:37and Tobago says contributions from the public will help expand the relief effort as communities begin the long
01:44process of recovery.
