SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS.– En una acción conjunta destinada a preservar el espacio público y mitigar daños ambientales, el Departamento de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de San Francisco de Macorís, junto a la Dirección Provincial de Medio Ambiente y el Servicio Nacional de Protección Ambiental (SENPA), intervinieron un lavadero de vehículos que operaba de manera ilegal al final de la urbanización Toribio Camilo de este municipio.

Con el uso de equipos pesados, las autoridades procedieron al desmantelamiento de la estructura que incluía una platea de concreto y un techo, los cuales habían sido construidos apropiándose de áreas correspondientes a la acera, la canaleta de desagüe y parte de la misma carretera.

Desacato a las notificaciones

Amadis Batista, representante de Medio Ambiente del ayuntamiento local, explicó que el propietario del taller vinculado al lavadero ya había sido notificado formalmente en reiteradas ocasiones tanto por la municipalidad como por el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente. Al no acatar los llamados de alerta y persistir en la ocupación del terreno público, se determinó proceder con la demolición de la infraestructura.

"Todo este drenaje está colapsado y tapado producto de ese trabajo que se hizo ahí, y habrá que reponer esas alcantarillas para que el agua pluvial pueda tomar su curso", señaló Batista, haciendo hincapié en que las obras ilegales obstruían el flujo del agua y generaban estancamientos.

Por su parte, el representante del SENPA y presidente de la Fundación "Te Quiero Verde RD", Odalis Candelier, quien también se apersonó al lugar en respaldo a la intervención, enfatizó la urgencia de la medida debido a que el tránsito vehicular ya se veía gravemente afectado en la zona.

"Una persona se tomó la mitad de la carretera para hacer un lavadero de vehículos. Tenemos que respetar los espacios públicos, tenemos que cuidar los espacios públicos; son de todos, no de una sola persona", puntualizó el dirigente comunitario, aclarando que estas acciones no corresponden a una persecución individual, sino al bienestar de la sociedad.

Tras el retiro de los escombros y la eliminación de la plataforma, las autoridades informaron que se enfocarán en la reparación del sistema de alcantarillado afectado para solucionar de forma definitiva el problema del empozamiento de agua y restablecer por completo la normalidad en la vía.
