00:53But have you ever wondered where do they actually come from?
00:56Who wore them first, if at all?
00:58And how far they have traveled.
01:00Today, we're going to track the journey of these clothes and find out how it reached a rack in one
01:06of India's most famous street markets.
01:12Our search has brought us to Panipat, a city known for textiles.
01:17Many governments sold in markets like Sarojini pass through this city before reaching shoppers.
01:25It's 80-90% Sarojini.
01:29Behind me are huge pails packed with clothes.
01:32In each pail, some clothes are export surplus, some are factory rejects, some are unsold stocked, some garments are second
01:40hand.
01:41And these have traveled across different nations before arriving here.
01:46But this is only one stop in a much longer journey.
01:49All of the world.
01:51All of the world has come from the PANIPAT, but it's not good quality.

02:55So let's trace the journey of the item we spotted there.
02:58It was an LV, a high-end luxury brand, being sold in stacks inside these belts.
03:03So we looked it up online and bingo, we found it.
03:07But is it an actual Louis Vuitton product?
03:10We still can't vouch for its authenticity.
03:28Well, not just China or South Korea.
03:30The clothes sold in Sarojini Nagar come from across the world, including countries like
03:34the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, China and several others.
03:39A t-shirt like this may begin its journey in one of these countries, where it's collected
03:44through donation drives, recycling programs or clearance sales.
03:47The garments are then packed into shipping containers and sent to India, often arriving through ports
03:53such as Mundra or Kandla in Gujarat.
03:56From there, many consignments travel to Panipat, where wearables clothes are sorted and sold
04:01to traders, while others are sent for recycling.
04:03The traders then supply retailers and markets like Sarojini Nagar giving these clothes a
04:08second life in someone else's wardrobe.
04:39The
05:01This lady walked us through what happens after the clothes arrive in Panipat and are sold
05:06to traders but before they are transported to markets.
05:10You have probably seen clothes in local markets carrying tags of well-known brands even though
05:15you know they are not genuine.
05:17We witnessed that process first hand.
05:20From ironing and packaging to attaching fake brand tags, each step is designed to make each
05:25garment look cleaner, fresher and more appealing before it reaches the shop floor.
05:30As it is called ZR and Jara, the brand tags are different from the tag and different from
05:36the price.
05:37The tags are not real, they are used to be used to be used to be used to be used
05:44to be used to
05:44the shop.
05:44If you have made your tag, you have to make it different from the shop.
05:49If you have a customer that you need a tag in my baby, then you have to take the tag.
05:55Yes, yes.
05:56Yes, absolutely.
05:56Do you print it separately?
05:59Yes, it is in the shop.
06:00Which brand is different?
06:02The brand is different.
06:04These are all local.
06:06This is Max.

06:18There are so many tags.
06:19We don't have to press them.
06:20There is no meaning to tag.
06:22If you put a tag on the company,
06:23you take 1.5 rupees.
06:26If you put a tag and then you will get 50.5 rupees.

06:45The profit is good to give them.
06:51What do you want to do?
06:55all over India, especially in Delhi, there are other markets, all over India, all over India,
07:04all over India, North East, Assam, West Bengal, Nagaland, all over India, all over India,
07:14all over India, all over India, all over India, all over India, all over India, all over India, all over
07:22India.
07:28The demand for affordable fashion in India is enormous and that's what keeps the supply chain moving.
07:35One government can be discarded in another country, that government can find a new owner in another country
07:43and for shoppers, it's bargain, for traders, it's a business and for these clothes, it's a second chance.
07:54Most shoppers never think about where these clothes came from, but every piece has a story,
08:00a story of global trade, affordable fashion, recycling and the city of Panipat.
08:05What begins as someone's discarded clothing often ends up as somebody else's price fine.
08:13It's like a big deal, it's not making a reputation for the people of God,
08:14it's a business and the city of Panipat.
08:14They are not making a reputation for all, but all they do, it's a business and it's a business,
08:14it's a business and a business.
08:15It's a business and the business has a business.
