00:04The Shiv Sena corporator who had slapped and punched and hit and threatened the medical
00:09professionals. He's been sent to police custody. 13th of July is when till he'll have to be in
00:16police custody. The Kalyan court has given that order in connection with the case involving the
00:20assault and doctors and nurses. This was remember Shastrinagar Hospital in Dombivali. So after a lot
00:26of outreach because all of this was caught on CCTV. Ramesh Mathre has been sent to police custody
00:31till the 13th of July.
00:40Remember that family members of the nurses and doctors, especially the young doctors,
00:45said the doctors do not even intend to return to the hospital to practice. That's how traumatized
00:52they were. Nurses were seen crying saying he humiliated us, beat us and it was absolutely
00:58unacceptable the kind of behavior that was witnessed.
01:08The police had told them that they needed 5 days of police custody. I didn't need it. It's
01:16a case, it's absolutely normal. It's a lot of anger. It's a lot of anger. It's a lot of
01:21people. It doesn't have to be recognized. It doesn't have to be a victim. It was a pregnant

01:43I don't think doctors are assaults or what could be a public elected representative
01:49of the doctors are assaults and I don't know if I don't know if I don't know if I don't
02:08know
02:30Diveesh Singh joins me for the latest on that.
02:33Diveesh, police custody till July 13th.
02:35What do you think will be the aspect of police probe here?
02:38But I also heard what the lawyer is saying.
02:41The lawyer claims that the corporator was also speaking on behalf of a public grievance
02:46of a pregnant woman that wasn't being addressed.
02:49So how do you think his defense are really playing this out?
02:56Well, Pooja, it is the defense.
02:58Remember, it is the defense lawyer of Ramesh Mathre,
03:01the corporator accused of assaulting doctors.
03:04And he is defending his client.
03:05And that is why he said that whatever the doctor's behavior was,
03:09that was also questionable.
03:11He is also stating that the doctor had misbehaved with Ramesh Mathre.
03:16He was asking for CMO's number.
03:18The number was not provided.
03:19The doctor was not listening to them.
03:21Ramesh Mathre had only gone to help a pregnant,
03:24a woman who was expected to deliver any time that day.
03:28And that is why he had gone to sought help at the hospital for the pregnant woman.
03:33But the assault that happened on doctors, that is not justified.
03:37The vicious attack that happened on the 26-year-old male doctor and the 28-year-old resident doctor,
03:44that wasn't justified.
03:46That is not justified in any case.
03:49You have a grievance.
03:50You can address it.
03:51You can take it up to their seniors.
03:52You are a public elected representative.
03:55But that doesn't allow you to launch an attack,
03:58an assault on doctors who are working at the municipal hospital.
04:02If they were not listening, if they are not providing...
04:05That's the point what you're making is there can be grievances.
04:08There can be definitely issues that must be taken up.
04:11But how does a corporator walking into a hospital,
04:13thrashing, punching, slapping the medical professionals,
04:17going to have those grievances addressed?
04:19And because it was all caught on camera,
04:21the doctors went on a strike.
04:22He has now been sent to police custody.
04:24Divyesh Singh has always appreciated joining us with the update.
