00:04changes everything. Young Thug's older brother, Quantavious Unfunk Unfunk, has once again found
00:09himself facing serious legal trouble. His name has been connected to charges ranging from
00:14racketeering to theft and later the possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, offenses that
00:19landed him back in prison and left his family, including his younger brother, struggling with
00:23the consequences. It started with the YSL Rico case in 2022 when Unfunk was arrested alongside
00:28Young Thug, Gunna, and several others. Prosecutors claimed YSL Records operated as more than just a
00:34music label, accusing it of being tied to criminal activity. Confronted with those charges, Unfunk
00:39accepted a plea deal. He admitted guilt to violating the state's RICO Act as well as receiving stolen
00:44property, which allowed him to avoid going to prison immediately. That agreement, however,
00:48came with conditions. He was placed on probation, ordered to follow curfew rules, complete community
00:52service, and most importantly, avoid any involvement with weapons. But his freedom was short-lived.
00:57In May 2023, Atlanta police pulled him over during a routine stop and found a handgun in his vehicle.
01:03As a convicted felon, he was not allowed to have one. His acknowledgement of the gun sealed the
01:07violation. When his case returned to court in June, Judge Ural Glanville addressed the situation firmly,
01:12stressing how quickly Unfunk had broken probation rules after being given a second chance. With that
01:16ruling, his freedom ended once again, and his family had to come to terms with him going back
01:20behind bars. The timing carried a heavy weight for Young Thug, who was already fighting his own
01:25battle in the same RICO case. In August 2025, Thug spoke publicly on Twitter about why his brother
01:30had chosen a plea deal in the first place. My brother would have rode the whole trip out, but when
01:34them guys took the plea, I told my brother to take it too. I had just did 12 years and
01:39then want to put
01:39my mama through that again hash free on phone. He wrote, but that message didn't line up with a
01:43leaked jailhouse phone call. In the conversation, 21 Savage asked Thug directly whether he had told his
01:48brother to take the plea. Thug brushed it off saying, man, watch out. The difference between what he said
01:53publicly and privately fueled questions about what really happened and whether there was more behind
01:57the decision. Then either brother admitted. Unfunk has also vaguely questioned whether he should set
02:02the record straight, though he didn't directly comment on the issue at the heart of his social
02:05media post. He posted a picture of Young Thug with the caption, I promise God hear us. I wish I

02:11you until I understand now. But Thug's fans weren't happy about it saying, nah, you understand what that

02:25Unfunk tried to push back against public judgment. In June 2024, while serving time,
02:29he took to social media to challenge rumors, insisting he had not cooperated against his

02:44As part of his plea deal, Unfunk isn't allowed to contact Young Thug or any other co-defendants in
02:49the indictment until the case has concluded, which is why he had to speak to him through his
02:53Instagram stories instead of calling him directly. For Unfunk, the noise outside did little to change
02:58his reality. By then, he was back in prison. His history already carried long stretches behind
03:02bars. Before the YSL indictment, he had served more than a decade in prison. That sentence ended in
03:072019, with his release celebrated by family and even the Atlanta rap scene. For a time, it seemed like
03:13he might finally be turning the page, but the cycle returned.
