00:30Hello, everybody. This is Countdown without Nicure, which is like Christmas turkey without cranberry sauce. But you'll have to make
00:38do with me. It's the second of our three Christmas specials and two legendary countdowners are here for a festive
00:44fracca. But, Rachel, I want to kick off this show by asking you a question. Sorry to put you in
00:49the spot. We haven't rehearsed this. What would you say to me if I said to you, and you can
00:55think about it, I could have been someone?
00:59But so could anyone. Fairytale of New York. You took my dreams from me when I first found you. Best
01:07Christmas song ever. Oh, no, no, no. If you want beautiful lyrics, I'll give you something that's been sung at
01:12Old Trafford for years and years and years.
01:13Oh, goodness. Five Cantona's, four Cantona's, three Cantona's, two Cantona's and an Eric Cantona. That's got to be the best
01:21Christmas song.
01:23Why did I say yes to this?
01:25OK, well, let's find out who's going to be on song today. Two wizards of Countdown are here. For one,
01:31rocking around a Christmas tree. For the other one, a blue Christmas. First of all, Callum Todd. Lovely to have
01:37you back, Callum.
01:38Thanks, Callum.
01:392013 champion and you did a wonderful thing along with other countdown legends during lockdown when people needed company. Tell
01:47me a little bit about the Zoom countdowns.
01:49Yeah, so, I mean, the main credits that has to go to Paul Anderson, who some people might remember, he
01:55was on the show last year. He came up with this idea at the start of lockdown to put on
01:59live games, a countdown. We'd host it over a Zoom call.
02:03Yeah.
02:03Yeah, I helped set that up, but the credit has to go to Paul, really. It's his baby.
02:08Yeah, well, listen, the reason why I bring it up is our lawyers asked us to do that because it
02:12is a copyrighted show and you'll be hearing from us, so it's not going to be a very good 2021
02:17from you. Callum, know your place, all right?
02:18Yeah, like I said, it's all Paul.
02:20Ridiculous, ridiculous. Jack, your lowest score, 108, I have it.
02:26I think that's right, yeah.
02:27Are you aware that contestants get fan mail, especially if they're on free, especially the champions? You were the 2010
02:34champion.
02:35Are you aware that your countdown's heartthrob, you've had more love letters than any contestant?
02:42I didn't know that, no, and I've not seen any of them, so I wonder if someone's intercepting them and
02:46reading them at their own leisure.
02:48Nick took them all home. I don't know what's going on. Listen, best of luck to both of you. Callum
02:53and Jack, everyone.
02:55All right, to Dictionary Corner, it's always about the mistletoe and wine for Susie Dent and our merry gentleman's back,
03:02Rory Bremner.
03:04All right, let's get this party started. If you're playing at home, good luck. Let's get our first letters now
03:12from Callum.
03:13Thanks, Colin. Afternoon, Rachel.
03:15Afternoon, Callum.
03:16Could I start with a vowel, please?
03:18Great festive outfit going on. You can start today with you.
03:22And another one, please.
03:24O.
03:24And another.
03:26E.
03:27And another.
03:29I.
03:30And another.
03:32A.
03:33A consonant, please.
03:35Y.
03:36And another.
03:37W.
03:38And another.
03:39C.
03:40And a final consonant, please.
03:42A final D.
03:43Let's play Kind Dime.
04:13For us, we'll be right back.
04:16Mere Mortals, an horrific start.
04:19Let's see how the champions get on.
04:20Callum.
04:21Not too great for me either, just five.
04:23Jack?
04:23Yeah, I've got five not written down.
04:24Jack, you go first.
04:26Wade, W-A-Y-E-D.
04:28And Callum?
04:29Adieu.
04:30Adieu, yeah, I like that.
04:32That's absolutely fine.
04:33And Wade is also fine.
04:34It describes a place that simply has lots of ways or streets.
04:38OK.
04:38Do you find a better way, Rory?
04:40Decay.
04:41That's five.
04:42Mm-hm.
04:43Or Coward.
04:44Also five.
04:45Right.
04:46But no more than that, I'm afraid, Colin.
04:48It can only get better.
04:49Jack, let's have another nine of the best.
04:51Good afternoon, Rachel.
04:51Afternoon, Jack.
04:52Could we start with a consonant, please?
04:54We can indeed.
04:54Start with S.
04:56And another.
04:58T.
04:59And another.
05:01L.
05:01And a vowel, please.
05:03E.
05:04And another.
05:05O.
05:06And one more, please.
05:08A.
05:08And a consonant.
05:11M.
05:12And another consonant, please.
05:14R.
05:15And we'll finish with another consonant, please.
05:18Finish with N.
05:20You have to admit it's getting better.
05:23You have to admit it's getting better.
05:52What have you got, Jack?
05:53Nine.
05:54The maximum, just like you did in your very first round, your very first show, all those years ago.
05:59Callum?
05:59I've just got eight.
06:00You've just got eight.
06:01Would only be said on a show featuring these two amazing people.
06:05All right, Callum, you're eight.
06:06Storeman.
06:07OK, Jack, let's have it.
06:09Malestone.
06:10Um.
06:11You can see, it's not one we had, but it is there, Jack.
06:14Yes.
06:14Oh, wow.
06:15Very good.
06:19It is rock that is incredibly iron-rich and has the composition of consolidated marl.
06:26Rory, what's your six?
06:28Well, I was going to say...
06:29Come on, let's just be honest.
06:31I've got five.
06:31I was going to say that's a Mason, because you'd need a Mason to make your milestone.
06:35Yes.
06:35But there's Mason there, and that's five letters.
06:37Wow.
06:38Useless.
06:39Unbelievable.
06:40Right.
06:40The 2010 champions hit a maximum.
06:43The 2013 champ has it all to do.
06:46Callum, we're going to get your numbers.
06:47I like what the guys did yesterday, Rachel, so I'll let you choose again if you like.
06:51Oh, between you two.
06:53I'm not doing a Colin Murray over there going one large.
06:55We've got the cream of countdown champions.
06:57I'm going to go four large.
06:59See what you guys have got.
07:01And two little.
07:02And the little ones are six and another six.
07:04And the big ones, 50, 75, 25, and 100.
07:09And the target, 603.
07:13It's what they deserve.
07:45Okay, let's just confirm it.
07:47Callum?
07:47Yep, I've got 603.
07:49And Jack?
07:50Yeah, 603.
07:51I think I've just about written it down.
07:52All right.
07:53Heartthrob, off you go.
07:54Six times 100.
07:56600.
07:5675 over 25.
07:58It's your three.
07:59Not the challenge I was looking for.
08:00Callum, you don't have to show anybody.
08:02We're all across it.
08:03You know, Jimmy Carr lets me press the button again, if it's that easy.
08:06So you've got work to do to become my favourite presenter.
08:08Jimmy Carr doesn't take countdown seriously enough.
08:10I don't want to start a beef, but that is absolutely true.
08:13Right, let's get your first tinsel teaser of the day.
08:16In the coming days, you might get a lot of this.
08:20Slow flan.
08:21In the coming days, you might get a lot of this.
08:38Over the coming days, you might get to see a lot of this.
08:41Slow flan melts into snowfall.
08:46Nothing like a white Christmas.
08:47So romantic.
08:48Nothing flaky today about Callum and Jack.
08:51We've already had a big maximum from the hearse.
08:54Let's get on their next letters game.
08:55Jack.
08:56Consonant, please, Rachel.
08:57Thank you, Jack.
08:59H.
08:59And another.
09:02P.
09:03And another.
09:04B.
09:05Vowel, please.
09:07I.
09:08And another.
09:09E.
09:10And another.
09:12A.
09:13Consonant, please.
09:15S.
09:16And a consonant, please.
09:20D.
09:21And we'll finish with another consonant, please.
09:23And finish with G.
09:25See you in 30.
09:57Jack, we've got a maximum already.
09:58Do we have another?
09:59Eight.
10:00Eight.
10:00Close one away.
10:01Callum?
10:02I'm just going to stick with six.
10:03Right, OK.
10:04Let's have the six, Callum.
10:05Bashed.
10:06OK.
10:06Safe enough.
10:07Is Jack's eight in the bag?
10:09Pigheads.
10:10Ah, that's the one we didn't look up.
10:12Ah, like Bighead, which is one I did look up,
10:15it's hyphenated, I'm afraid.
10:16Sorry, Jack.
10:17All right.
10:18Bighead and Pighead both have hyphens.
10:21So Bigheads doesn't count?
10:22Oh.
10:23No.
10:24Ah, I had Bigheads.
10:25Yes.
10:25Oh, do you have that, Rory?
10:26No, yeah, I had Bigheads.
10:28Yeah, all Bighead.
10:29There we go.
10:30Yeah, Brian Clough, all Bighead.
10:32Mike Yarwood used to do Brian Clough.
10:33This is going back years.
10:35And Clough did the best impression of Clough himself,
10:37didn't he?
10:38Yeah.
10:38Because he became a caricature.
10:39Didn't he say,
10:40I don't know who the best football managers are in the world,
10:43but I'm in the top one.
10:45Well, listen, from Bighead to the biggest spray in the studio, Susie?
10:48Well, there was a seven there, at least,
10:50which is aphides,
10:52and that is the plural of aphis,
10:54a family that includes the common green fly and black fly.
10:58Beautiful.
10:59Right, Callum, let's have nine more.
11:01Can I start with a consonant this time, please, Rachel?
11:03Thank you, Callum.
11:03N.
11:04And another, please.
11:06M.
11:08And another.
11:09F.
11:10And another.
11:13D.
11:14And another.
11:16T.
11:17And one more.
11:19S.
11:20Vowel, please.
11:22I.
11:23And another.
11:24U.
11:25And one more, please.
11:27And lastly, O.
11:29Not making it easy at home, are they?
11:32MUSIC PLAYS
12:02See if Callum can close the gap.
12:03What have you got?
12:04Six.
12:04Six for Callum.
12:05Jack, a chance?
12:06Eight.
12:07And eight for Jack.
12:08Callum, what have you got?
12:09Founds.
12:10Founds and Jack?
12:11Dismount.
12:12Wonderful, Susie.
12:13Brilliant.
12:14Good.
12:14An infestive in there, Rory?
12:16Well, it's a bit cold for nudists, isn't it?
12:19Yeah.
12:19I think it would probably freeze your nuts, which is a four-letter one.
12:26Nudists and nuts.
12:27It's just another episode of Countdown.
12:29Let's get the numbers, Jack.
12:30Play it safe.
12:31One large, please, Rachel.
12:32You're never going to pick one large.
12:33Scrooge.
12:34On a show like this, on the special, everyone at home is looking for something special.
12:38You get one large.
12:39I hope it's a very difficult one.
12:41The five little ones for you, Jack, are eight, three, ten, seven.
12:46Another eight, and a large one, 100.
12:49And the target, 399.
12:52You've got 30 seconds.
12:52You've got 30 seconds.
13:23Callum?
13:24Yeah, I've got it, yeah.
13:25You've got Jack?
13:26Yeah, 399.
13:27OK, probably both the obvious ways.
13:28Callum, you have a dig.
13:29OK, added eight times eight is 64.
13:31Eight times eight, 64.
13:33Minus seven is 57.
13:35Yep.
13:36And then ten minus three gives you another seven.
13:38It does, indeed.
13:39And multiply them together.
13:40Perfect, 399.
13:41Jack?
13:42Much more conventional.
13:43Seven minus three is four.
13:44Yep.
13:45Yep.
13:45Times 100.
13:46400.
13:47Eight over eight gives you a one.
13:48Well done.
13:49And that's how 99.9% of people do it.
13:54Right, time to pause.
13:56And, of course, Christmas, we relax.
13:58And there's always a moment, certainly for me, and I'm sure most people around the country, Rory, where we just
14:02sit back, we reflect, and we remember.
14:05Yes.
14:06It's been a very sad, been a miserable year in many ways.
14:09And I'm sure many of you watching may have lost a friend or friends through corona.
14:16I've lost the man who taught me everything I know about writing.
14:20He was my right-hand man.
14:21He was my writer.
14:22We worked together for over 30 years.
14:25You might not have heard his name, but you'll have listened to his jokes.
14:29He wrote things like news quiz.
14:30He wrote for a lot of people.
14:31And he sent his first joke in to Radio 4 to Weekending, under the name Mr. Langdon of Sunbury.
14:38And he then worked on that corridor, writing all the radio shows with Jeremy Hardy and Andy Hamilton, people like
14:43that, who are familiar with Radio 4 listeners.
14:45He was an extraordinary man.
14:48And he would write, mostly right outside, smoking cigarettes on a sort of the latest sort of microlight, sort of
14:54microcomputer device with a satchel full of newspapers and stuff.
14:59He was legendarily late.
15:01So when he became the late John Langdon, it was part of the joke.
15:04Because he was, he'd always say, do you want it funny or do you want it Friday?
15:07And, you know, I need it now.
15:08But he wanted to make it funnier.
15:10I think the latest that he was with me is I was in character, in makeup, on the studio floor,
15:14and the script was being written into the autocue from the gallery, where it was being dictated down the phone
15:21to a studio assistant by John.
15:22Because that was the latest we ever got with the script, although he blames me for that one, to be
15:27fair.
15:27But jokes, I used to say they were like Indian trains.
15:31You know when you see that footage of Indian trains and there are people clinging on to everything?
15:34And his jokes, there were so many sub jokes and different jokes and bits sort of hanging on.
15:39And I said, then we're going to have to clean these out and just get a straight line.
15:43He was a football referee.
15:44He was a cricket umpire.
15:45He was fascinated by how things worked.
15:48He collected computers, how coffee machines worked, shoe lasts, Mercedes.
15:54And in his later years, we lost contact for about two or three years because he was ill with CPOD,
15:58which ultimately killed him.
16:00But the last email that we had, he sent me an email and I sent him an email and they
16:05crossed in the air.
16:07And it was the same joke.
16:09We were working on I'm Sorry I Hadn't a Clue, which Tim was doing earlier in the year.
16:12And it was slogans for, new slogans for companies.
16:15And so Miles Jupp wrote a wonderful one, which was, Ikea, causing divorces on bank holidays since 1943.
16:23So I sent one to John and John sent one to me.
16:26It was sussexroyal.com.
16:28Air today, gone tomorrow.
16:31And he sent it to me and I sent it to him and that was our last email exchange and
16:35he died a few weeks after that.
16:36John Langdon, wonderful man.
16:41It's definitely a time to remember loved loss and we raise a glass to all of them this afternoon, a
16:47cup of tea, most likely.
16:48And, you know, there's the simplicity that we have of just coming together and playing a game.
16:51And I think that is the magic of Countdown.
16:54Very simple thing.
16:55Let's get back to Callum.
16:57Can I start with a consonant, please, Rachel?
16:58Thank you, Callum.
17:24To the lightboats.
17:29To the lightboats.
17:58Do you wear shorts for a first, Callum?
18:00I think I've got an eight.
18:01An eight, he thinks.
18:03Do you know, Jack?
18:03Yeah, I'll try an eight as well then.
18:05Callum?
18:06Overline.
18:07Overline.
18:08I have the very same written down.
18:10Okay.
18:11Susie, that get them over the line?
18:12It certainly does.
18:13Yeah.
18:13And overline is simply a line above a piece of printed text.
18:17Is it already to be on with these champions?
18:19You've got two champions here.
18:20It's almost a thankless task.
18:22What else did you get?
18:22Well, they left out the sea.
18:26No.
18:26And they could have had cover line.
18:29Go on, Abren.
18:30Cover line?
18:30Yeah.
18:34Can I tell you what a cover line is?
18:35Yes, please.
18:36I'd love to know.
18:36Absolutely brilliant.
18:37It's a headline on the front cover of a magazine, advertising a story or feature inside.
18:41Brilliant.
18:42Brilliant.
18:43Callum, Jack.
18:44Two champions are going down.
18:45Shame on you.
18:46Shame on you for not getting that.
18:48Jack, let's make amends.
18:49Consonant, please, Rachel.
18:51Thank you, Jack.
18:52D.
18:53And another.
18:55T.
18:55And another.
18:58N.
18:58And a vowel, please.
19:00A.
19:01And another.
19:02I.
19:03And another.
19:04O.
19:05And a consonant.
19:07S.
19:09And another consonant, please.
19:11F.
19:12And we'll finish with another consonant, please.
19:14Finish with M.
19:1730 seconds.
19:17Y incorrect.
19:46MUSIC PLAYS
19:48A little tougher, me thinks. What have you got, Jack?
19:50Eight.
19:51An eight for Jack. And Callum?
19:52Seven.
19:53Callum, let's have your seven.
19:55Stifado.
19:56OK. And Jack, big chance to extend your lead. Your eight?
19:58Saintdom.
19:59OK. So is it seven-seven or is Saintdom OK?
20:01Saintdom is excellent, yeah, in the dictionary.
20:04Well, who cares about these chumps anyway?
20:06Rory, you've got a nine, obviously.
20:08No, no. I peaked.
20:11There's no... I can give you two coming back down.
20:15And in, although I could put most on the app, but in most, we could do that.
20:19But that's all I've got.
20:20OK.
20:20You know, I'm going to get one right, they're going to get 99 right.
20:23Absolutely. Well, listen, the yardstick, Susie, have you found anything better?
20:27Well, it's no longer. It's a seven, but I just... I like this one.
20:30It's appropriate for this year.
20:31Fan tods. A state or attack of uneasiness.
20:36We've all felt that this year.
20:37Yeah, Callum might have the fan tods right now.
20:39A lot of ground to make up, but the comeback begins now, Callum.
20:42Are your numbers?
20:44I'll go for two large, please, Rachel.
20:46I don't think we've had that one yet in these specials.
20:47Two large and four little, and hopefully we'll have an interesting one.
20:51Let's see.
20:52The four little ones are seven, eight, five, three.
20:56And the large two, 25 and 100.
20:59And the target for you to reach 896.
21:03Let's go.
21:03The four little ones are eight.
21:06And the three little ones are seven, eight, five, four.
21:12The three little ones are seven, eight, eight.
21:19And the five little ones are seven, eight.
21:35Scribbling furiously at home.
21:37These two, the pens down very quick, so I'm jumping the conclusions.
21:40Callum? Yep, I've got it.
21:41Jack? Yeah, 896. Go ahead, Jack.
21:44So 100 at 25 at 3 is 128.
21:47Yep. And times that by 7 for 896.
21:49Perfect. Callum?
21:51I did 100 plus 7 plus 5 is 112.
21:55And times that by 8.
21:57Yep, nice and divisible with this one. Lovely.
21:59Absolutely brilliant.
22:0277 plays 49.
22:04As we head into a tinsel teaser, the word is fun gifts.
22:09Gifts are fun to give at Christmas, but you can't beat one of these.
22:13Gifts are fun to give at Christmas, but you can't beat one of these.
22:18Gifts are fun to give at Christmas, but you can't beat one of these.
22:32Gifts are fun to give at Christmas, but you can't beat a good one of these.
22:37Fun gifts becomes stuffing.
22:40I think it's probably best that we just move on.

23:50Susie, what do you say?
23:52I just say, brilliant.
23:54Wow.
23:54They are consistently...

24:59MUSIC PLAYS
25:03Most afraid to ask. Jack, how many?
25:06I'll go with a seven. Seven. Colum?
25:08I've got seven as well.
25:09OK, tied yet again after two different maximums.
25:13What's your word, Colum?
25:14Ingers.
25:15And Jack?
25:16Jailers.
25:16Yes, both very good.
25:18We have one more for that list.
25:20Yeah, it was nailers.
25:21Yeah, nailers.
25:22Nailers with an N for the J.
25:23Nailed it again.
25:24We all take a little break.
25:25I think we need it, given that Jack's a century up
25:29before Origins of Words.
25:31And your favourite Christmas song would be The Waitresses,
25:34wouldn't it?
25:34Christmas rapping.
25:36That's Susie Dent's first job.
25:37It was my first job.
25:39That's very true.
25:40I was going to say something very pretentious,
25:42but I love German carols.
25:44There's just something very special about those.
25:47But I'm going to talk not about carols,
25:49but about baubles today,
25:51or at least some more Christmas words for our special.
25:55I'm going to start with bauble.
25:57That comes from bauble, which is an old French word,
26:00meaning a child's toy or a plaything.
26:02So nothing surprising there.
26:03But in the years that followed,
26:05after it came into English,
26:07which was around the 14th century,
26:08it came to be used for the stick or the baton
26:10carried by court jesters.
26:13And they were called bauble bearers in Tudor England.
26:16So they had a very, very important role.
26:18But then, because they were jesters and they were fools,
26:21or at least they played the fool,
26:22it was attached to a foolish or a slow-witted person.
26:25And to give somebody the bauble meant to make fun of them,
26:29which is something, gentle teasing, perhaps,
26:31that we all like to do at Christmastime.
26:33And, Colin, I don't know where you stand on eggnog.
26:37Not a fan of it. Horrible.
26:38Horrible stuff.
26:39But, you know, it's one of those Christmas traditions.
26:41It is.
26:42It ran brandy, egg, milk, sugar.
26:45Well, the nog was once a word for strong beer,
26:48and it was a beer brewed specifically in Norfolk
26:50in the east of England.
26:52But no-one is entirely sure where the nog comes from.
26:55Several theories.
26:56But one is that it comes from a Scots word,
26:58nug, for beer, having been warmed by a red-hot poker.
27:03Or, and I prefer this one,
27:04it might go back to an old dialect word for the head,
27:08a noggin, because when you drink some eggnog,
27:10it goes straight to your head.
27:12And, Jack, I think you have a special relationship with eggnog.
27:15Yeah, it's my girlfriend's nickname.
27:17I don't fully know why.
27:18She's tried to explain it to me,
27:19but I don't really understand.
27:20But, yeah, she'll be happy to get a shout-out.
27:22Good.
27:22One reason to like eggnog, anyway.
27:24There you go.
27:25One of the most bizarre moments.
27:31Ask no more questions, Jack.
27:33Just give us some letters.
27:34Can I start with a consonant again, please, Rachel?
27:36Thank you, Jack.
27:38T.
27:38And another.
27:40P.
27:41And another.
27:42K.
27:43And a vowel, please.
27:45E.
27:46And another.

27:48And a consonant, please.

27:54And a vowel, please.
27:57O.
27:58And finish with another vowel, please.
28:01Finish with E.
28:03Cue the music.
28:04or I.
28:32Jack.
28:33Please meet you.
28:34We'll see you next time.
28:35Not easy, but you two make it look easy.
28:38Callum, how many?
28:38I've got six.
28:40And Jack?
28:40Yeah, I've got six as well.
28:41Callum, what do you got?
28:43Kwaito.
28:43And Jack?
28:44Pee-wit.
28:45Sorry, what is yours, Callum?
28:46Kwaito.
28:47So it's K-W-A-I-T-O.
28:50Yes.
28:52Kwaito, all kwaito.
28:53Very good.
28:54South African style of popular music, similar to hip-hop.
28:57That's sensational.
28:58Rory, any other sixes we've ever heard of?
29:01No, I need to tweak my knowledge.
29:02Tweek was there.
29:03Yeah, that's only five.
29:05I bow to your superior wisdom.
29:08That's very good.
29:08Not over yet.
29:10Despite Jack having 108, 28 in it.
29:13So it's do or die time, I'd say, for Callum, your letters.
29:16OK, I'll start with a vowel this time, please, Rachel.
29:19Thank you, Callum.
29:20A.
29:21And a consonant, please.
29:23R.
29:23And another consonant.

30:04A consonant, please.
30:04A consonant, please.
30:04A consonant, please.

30:06A consonant, please.
30:07A consonant, please.
30:10A consonant, please.
30:13A consonant, please.
30:15A consonant, please.
30:17I need this one column. What have you got? I've just got four. And Jack? Seven. And a seven. What's
30:23the four column? Bear. And Jack? Begora. Bejesus, I would say. Yes. Similar? Well, very similar. It's an alteration of
30:31by God. Traditionally attributed to the Irish euphemism. Yeah. There you go. See, Colin Murray calling himself Irishman. Dara O
30:38'Brien, he'd be straight on you there. Okay. Eh.
30:41Begora, with or without an H. Where are you going? You're going back home with your head hanging low.
30:47Wonderful. Right, Callum, you can still get a century up. So let's stay focused. Be great if you can get
30:52the numbers. Then the conundrum could get you a ton up. Jack, you're picking them.
30:58Keep it simple. Go one large again, please, Rachel. Keep it simple. One large. You're going for the points for
31:02no particular reason. Christmas present for Colin. Fair enough. Here we go. One large. Five little something we can all
31:07play along with. And the little ones are eight, seven, five, five, three. And the large one, 50.
31:15And the target, six hundred and twenty-five.
31:18Thirty seconds to find six to five.
31:37Two hundred and twenty-five.
31:38And the average
31:43satis. Three hundred and
31:43twenty-five. The right one,
31:43Clich, One hundred and
31:43eleven. Five
31:43.æ±ș me Five hundred and forty.
31:44Five hundred
31:44Five hundred and sixty- restaurant.
31:52625. Callum?
31:53Yeah, I've got it.
31:54Excellent. Jack?
31:55Yep, 625.
31:56Callum, you go ahead, my friend.
31:58So 5 plus 5 is 10.
32:005 plus 5, 10.
32:017 plus 3 is another 10.
32:02Yep.
32:03Times them together for 100.
32:04100.
32:05Times up by 50 for 5,000.
32:075,000.
32:08And divide by 8.
32:09Perfect. Well done. 625.
32:11Obviously, you did it exactly the same way, Jack.
32:14Mine wasn't as big as Callum's.
32:16Um, so I did 50 times 5 times 5.
32:20Yeah, same. We're going the same way.
32:23Yeah, 450.
32:24And then 7 minus 3 is 4.
32:26Yep.
32:268 over 4 is 2.
32:27So if you times it by that, you get 5,000.
32:29You can say you're just as big.
32:318 over 4 is your 2.
32:34And divide 1,250 by 2.
32:37625 again. Well done.
32:44125 players, 90.
32:46It's not crucial, but it's still important.
32:48Here's today's Countdown conundrum.
32:54Callum, for the ton.
32:56Is it sub-climax?
32:57Let's have a look.
32:59Yes.
33:04Callum, a little bit of solace for you to bring up this century?
33:08Yeah, sure.
33:09I mean, I came here knowing I was up against one of the best of all time in Jack.
33:13And I knew it was going to be my last opportunity to come here and play, probably.
33:17So just glad I enjoyed it.
33:20I just enjoyed it at all times.
33:21Wonderful.
33:23Congratulations, Jack.
33:24And, yep, just here in a mere 346 adoring fan mail letters just since we came on at the start
33:31of the show.
33:31So don't worry about that.
33:32We'll get them to you.
33:33Wonderful stuff.
33:34Susie, pleasure as always.
33:35Thank you so much.
33:36Thanks, Colin.
33:36And thank you very much to Boris Johnson.
33:38Oh, yeah.
33:39So don't forget, hands, face, space.
33:43Give Colin a hand.
33:45Have a smile on your face and watch this space.
33:52Rachel, I just want to say, your puddings have been glittering for the whole show today.
33:56I don't know if you've noticed, but every time they catch the light, superb.
34:00I don't know what to say to that, but thank you very much.
34:02I could just hear the sound of 346 hearts breaking as we heard about Jack's eggnog.
34:10Yes, and my heart's broken, but also soaring just a couple of days until Santa.
34:15Thank you for tuning in the third of our Christmas specials.
34:18Tomorrow we'll get together, we'll play a simple game, and we'll be in each other's company.
