00:00But a few weeks ago on this radio station, the debate began, not just with us, not just
00:04with me, Sean and Tiki, but I think everyone touched on it, which is, should the New York
00:08Yankees trade for Tarek Scoble?
00:10And one of the arguments against it was, well, they don't really need him.
00:13You know, they need a catcher.
00:15They need a third baseman.
00:16They need bullpen help.
00:18Why would you take assets and trade for Tarek Scoble?
00:21That was the argument against people like me who said, you never have enough starting
00:25pitching.
00:25He's one of the best pitchers in baseball.
00:27If you have a chance to go get him, you go get him.
00:29Watching the Yankees last night and watching the Yankees over the last few weeks as they
00:33have continued to play mediocre baseball and the cavalry isn't coming because there's no
00:39report that Aaron Judge is walking through that door anytime soon.
00:41There's no report Giancarlo Stanton is walking through that door anytime soon.
00:45So the only cavalry that's really coming is Max Freed potentially, which is nice.
00:50To me, it reinforces that they must trade for Tarek Scoble.
00:55Now, hear me out on that because the counter would be, how does that help third base?
01:00How does that help catcher?
01:02How does that help that they desperately miss the bat of Aaron Judge?
01:06Here's what it does.
01:08It gives the Yankees something that they're far better than everyone else at, and that
01:13is a murderous starting rotation.
01:15Will Warren is not starting a playoff game in the postseason.
01:19At this rate, I don't know if Carlos Rodon is.
01:22He's not even healthy.
01:24We'll continue to evaluate Garrett Cole, and if he continues to improve coming off of Tommy
01:29John surgery, but obviously if Garrett Cole's healthy, he's starting a playoff game.
01:33So my thought is, if there's no guarantee Aaron Judge is walking through that door, and there's
01:38no magic elixir at catcher, and there's no magic elixir at third base, and sure, I can get
01:44a relief pitcher, it's a coin toss on if that reliever's going to be any good, Ryan Helsley
01:49and Camilo Duvall say hi.
01:51You have no idea.
01:52Meanwhile, on the other side, the Tampa Bay Rays closer is Brian Baker, and he's having
01:57a great year.
01:58He was a mediocre reliever for the last four years.
02:02So if I can't get the magic elixir at all these other holes the Yankees have, why don't
02:09I just go get the best pitcher in baseball and form one of the great rotations in baseball?
