00:00ah yes Tuesday edition of shine time this tells you everything you need to
00:09know shine time starts right now
00:17uncle scram a brilliant back page from the New York Post after all that's after
00:24the dominant group stage after beating down Bosnia after the red card after
00:29the president of the United States exerted political pressure on corrupt
00:33FIFA to overturn the red card which should have never been issued in the
00:36first place after the appeal of the appeal we finally get to the round the
00:4016 game in front of that incredible raucous crowd in Seattle and the US
00:44men's national team gave us that that was amateur hour that was garbage that
00:51was nonsense that was slop that was an embarrassment that was a national
00:57disaster all the good vibes poof gone up in smoke it's one thing to lose you lose a
01:05heartbreaker you lose a competitive round the 16 game we could have a conversation
01:10about it but that no that was pure garbage absolute flat-out embarrassment for one
01:17loss to Belgium and honestly wasn't even that close and honestly when you look at
01:23Matt Freese our goalie that was the theater of the absurd seriously there were a lot of people to blame
01:31for what
01:31transpired for Team USA but our goalie Matt Freese was a complete and utter disaster when you go full
01:41coo and you can't even make contact with the ball anytime you're a young way coo and
01:47you had all those memes flying around that is a joke right going full young way coo is not the
01:54way to attack being a goalie first of all why are you out of the box what what was even
01:58going through
01:59freezes mind frame with a phrase with a brain freeze of epic proportion that's one of the
02:04dumbest things I've ever seen in a big spot by any American athlete that simply put cannot happen and then
02:10to get his legs
02:12tangled where he has no idea what the hell he's doing and it goes full young way coo doesn't make
02:18contact with the ball looks like Charlie Brown and Lucy pulls the football that is unacceptable brain freeze literally by
02:25Maddie Freeze then you see a
02:27goal getting let up or all you had to do was just keep it close. That bothered me. Bothered me
02:33also when it was 1-1 after Tillman was able to have that rocket through and then bam! Freeze gave
02:39up that header. It was just instant garbage and nonsense. And what was really crazy to me was
02:46Belgium was the more energetic team, the better team, right from the jump. Like this was not on
02:55the bingo card. Like I tweeted in real time. This was crazy. Absolutely insane. Yeah, they were having
03:03a lot of fun. A lot of fun on the old social media yesterday. That was crazy. And the fact
03:10that
03:10Belgium just was flying around, kept coming, Energizer Bunny, model of efficiency, Team USA
03:16right from the jump was stuck in the mud. Just can't happen. And I thought after that incredible
03:22national anthem, obviously having Flo Balogin back, which he never should have been given
03:28a red card or suspended in the first place, I thought Team USA was going to be energetic
03:32and into it. And that was a complete and utter disgrace. I mean, my goodness, just awful. I
03:38thought Christian Pulisic, he deserves all sorts of blame. I thought that he was a wretched,
03:44putrid, awful, quote unquote star. You know, we talk about in the three major sports in North
03:51America, the stars, right? And guys who are not requisite to their genius when it matters
03:56the most, Aaron Judge, Lamar Jackson, James Harden. Look at these nuggets of futility. I mean,
04:02Christian Pulisic was Christian putrid in this game. He was a double agent this entire World Cup.
04:11This was an embarrassment. Lamar Jackson and James Harden and Aaron Judge are laughing
04:17at Christian Pulisic. I mean, he was a net negative, just awful. You had players getting
04:24benched. Flo was awful. I mean, he was basically doing cardio out there. And I thought for sure,
04:31right? Because it's important to go in the chronological order, right? And Dest was benched,
04:36Flo was just awful and Pulisic was awful. And they had seven shots in the entire game. Belgium
04:43had 15. I mean, this, it's one thing to lose. This was an embarrassment. And I think it's
04:50important to kind of go in chronological order because a lot of people lost their minds on
04:54a lot of things, right? FIFA's corrupt. President Trump made a call and he should have. And I give
05:02him a lot of credit for that because you go back to what happened against Bosnia and the fact that
05:09Flo got that red card in the first place was just absolute insanity. So I don't care if this is
05:17Trump
05:17who made the call, Biden made the call, Obama made the call, Bush made the call. People losing their
05:25minds over who made the call. The call of the red card should have never existed in the first place.
05:31And we have to play the Bosnia game for the final stretch of that contest inexplicably when Flo got
05:39thrown out of that one. Okay. So FIFA's corrupt. That's an important backdrop. They succumbed to
05:46political pressure. Go back and remember the red card. That was the utilization was absurd.
05:52How they used VAR was asinine and it just felt dirty. And it's not unprecedented. This has
06:01happened a couple times before. It does, you know. So I don't feel bad about it even if Team USA
06:08would
06:08have won because he never should have gotten the red card in the first place. So, but it's crazy to
06:14me
06:15that USA couldn't use that as an advantage. It's like Belgium was more fired up. I don't get it.
06:22Seattle's a great soccer city, great sports city. And now you start talking about Team USA big picture,
06:30right? And I'm on record here on Shine Time after the first two games. I said, this is the best
06:35start
06:35we've ever had. Most dominant performances we've ever had. We've had, you know, Alexi Lalas on. I've
06:40had all sorts of great guests on. And everyone has agreed with me, right? Like it's not like this is
06:44a
06:45unique hot take. This is the best start we've ever seen. You know, then the Turkey A game, I thought
06:50Pooch handled that well in terms of getting, you know, Pulisic back in the mix and getting him healthy.
06:56Nine different starters. Game didn't matter. Then the Bosnia game, we were able to grind that thing out.
07:03I don't blame Pooch one iota for what happened last night. That's on the players. That's not X's and
07:09O's. That's the Johnnies and the Joes. And when Pulisic fails, where it does get benched, when you see
07:15what transpired with Freeze and how atrocious he was as a goalie, completely losing his mind and
07:20having memes getting made all over the place. This was a flat out disaster. A disaster. And here's the
07:30deal, right? Team USA, I now have to wonder aloud, is it ever going to get any better? Like if
07:36I'm going
07:36to grade Team USA on this World Cup, I'd give them a BB minus. All the great vibes from early
07:44on,
07:44I don't love amnesia. I remember what I said. The great vibes are gone. Like I saw different rankings
07:51I respect. We were Team 17, 18 going into the World Cup. All right, you get to the 16, round
07:56the 16,
07:56that's great. If you were competitive, I wouldn't have such a negative take. This was an ass kicking.
08:02This was an international incident. This was a flat out embarrassment. And look at the results here
08:08for Team USA men's soccer in the World Cup over recent years. You look at these results and it is
08:16the theater of the absurd. So nothing changed, right? Absolutely nothing changed. Round the 16,
08:232026. 2022, round the 16. 2018, obviously they missed it. 2014, round the 16. 2010, round the 16.
08:33So what changed? And here's the thing. People like to say, okay, at the end of the day, you know,
08:39you start looking at it and you say, well, you know, are we taking a step forward? Kids in this
08:45country, boys in this country, grow up and they want to be the next LeBron James, the next Patrick
08:51Mahomes. You know, not to mention, you know, being the next Aaron Judge, the next Jack Hughes. I mean,
08:56that's just how it goes, right? So it's different in other countries. I'd feel much better if in fact
09:05we were talking about at the end of the day, you know, where you would say, okay, close game,
09:11get them in four years. This was, and this is not a juggernaut. I'm obsessed with the World Cup.
09:17I mean, Argentina today, unbelievable. Mexico the other night, that game was a banger. Watching
09:24Norway on Sunday, I can't get enough. This World Cup has been incredible. USA, North America,
09:31done an unbelievable job. You know, all the different cities, LA and Seattle and Santa Clara,
09:36Miami and Kansas City and Philly, and obviously, you know, when you take a look at New York, New Jersey,
09:42everything's been terrific, except this. And I think that the soccer fever in this country is
09:47off the charts. MLS ratings, Apple TV, off the charts. CBS, Paramount Plus, NBC, the old Peacock,
09:57Premier League, everything is off the charts compared to what it was. I just wonder aloud if this is going
10:04to be as good as it gets. That's a sobering thought. The fact that we couldn't play, the fact that
10:11we
10:11couldn't get it together. We couldn't play with any kind of urgency. I don't think that, you know,
10:18I didn't think the moment was too big. Maybe the pressure of not getting passed around the 16,
10:23looking at it in hindsight. I didn't have that on my bingo card. What a complete and utter failure,
10:29a disaster, an embarrassment. The great vibes are gone. This was an international incident and a flat
10:37out disgrace. I was sick to my stomach watching what transpired when you look at Team USA. But hey,
10:47as Josh Hart reminds us, at least we have the Knicks.
10:51Josh Hart's tweet gives us a perfect transition to my Knicks. And in case you missed it,
10:58Clutch Sports CEO and founder Rich Paul did a segment on his outstanding show with my guy,
11:03Max Kellerman, Game Over, where he used a whiteboard to break down just about every single landing spot
11:12for his client and great friend, LeBron James. And that included the Knicks, who, by the way,
11:19have added Andre Drummond. I like it, under the circumstance to replace Mitchell Robinson.
11:26Listen, not the same in terms of defense, but Drummond is a terrific offensive rebounder.
11:33Thought that was an excellent move. And how about this from the post-Steph Bondi,
11:39Jalen Brunson played through the finals with a wrist injury that required surgery.
11:45Pretty impressive when you consider it. Anyway, take a listen to Rich Paul.
11:51I think it's difficult, right? Because the last thing you want to do is mess up something like
11:57that, right? The Knicks has a good thing going. You know, that'll be, if the Knicks hadn't won,
12:04he, this wouldn't, there would be no board.
12:05He'd be going to the Knicks.
12:07Jalen Brunson would literally have to pick up the phone and say, hey, man, it's no issue with me.
12:17It's no issue with me.
12:19Jalen, balls in your car.
12:21And I'm not saying that that would, I'm not saying that that would make him make his decision.
12:25But at least it would put him on the table.
12:26Yeah, because you got to respect that.
12:29Have the Knicks called?
12:30Yeah.
12:31Knicks checked in?
12:34So I didn't like this. I didn't like any of this.
12:38Look, I can't believe, and good for Rich Paul and Max Kellerman,
12:42they are turning LeBron's free agency in the summer of LeBron 2026
12:47into a terrific episode of Game Over.
12:51It is officially a podcast, right?
12:54And as someone who still writes notes on a notepad and insists on a long notepad,
13:01I can appreciate a great whiteboard.
13:03And I can appreciate something like this and fleshing it out.
13:06But to say out loud that LeBron would be going to the Knicks if they had not won,
13:13I find that to be absurd.
13:16First of all, do we know that the Knicks would want him?
13:19I'm being dead serious here.
13:21Let's say the Knicks lost in the NBA Finals.
13:24Let's say San Antonio beat them.
13:26Not crazy.
13:27They were heavily favored.
13:28They were favored to win.
13:29They were favored by five and a half points to win game number five.
13:32So they wouldn't just run it back?
13:35They would just sign LeBron James?
13:37The whole second apron conversation wouldn't exist?
13:40You know, it does take two to tango here.
13:43I think that for Rich Paul to say that is, well, rich.
13:48Because unless he knows for a fact that James Dolan and Leon Rose and Mike Brown,
13:58who coached LeBron, obviously, that they would have 100% signed LeBron James
14:03and Jalen Brunson would have given a big thumbs up on that,
14:07I've got a big issue with that.
14:09Also, what does a championship have to do with it?
14:13Seriously.
14:14And listen, I love LeBron James.
14:17I think LeBron James is sensational.
14:19I would love LeBron James on my Knicks.
14:21But in theory, if LeBron wanted to take his name and his game and his legacy to a different level,
14:29he would sign with the Knicks.
14:30No one has them favored.
14:32They're not in Vegas right now.
14:33They're not even in the Eastern Conference to win another championship,
14:36to win the Eastern Conference.
14:37So why don't you do it, Rich Paul?
14:40I think he's just saying this to get a reaction.
14:43I don't think he knows that Leon Rose or James Dolan would even want LeBron James.
14:50Also, LeBron could have picked the Knicks, albeit under different circumstances,
14:54albeit with different management, different kind of situation at different times in his career.
14:59Of course, we all know about the ill-fated decision,
15:02which was done a stone's throw from Madison Square Garden.
15:05A lot of smart people thought he was going to New York.
15:08Instead, he took his talents to South Beach.
15:10So I think this is kind of hypothetical, absurd, look-at-me nonsense.
15:16This, of all the things that he said during this incredible edition of the Game Over podcast
15:21and turning the summer of LeBron into a literal game and podcast episode
15:28where you have to kind of go through the whiteboard,
15:30and we're going to it, see exactly what the hell Rich Paul means.
15:33This bothered me.
15:34This is the one that I said, I don't think he's telling the truth.
15:39Oh, I don't think he knows.
15:41Please, go side with the Knicks.
15:43You call Jalen Brunson.
15:46This one bothered me.
15:47As a Knicks fan, there's history.
15:50It's loaded, layered.
15:52Come on.
15:52Now, Paul might have made his strongest case for the Cleveland Cavaliers,
15:58but it had less to do with the roster and more to do with the key LeBron connection.
16:05Now, let's go up here to the C-Town.
16:09Mitchell, Harden, Mobley, Allen.
16:12Dan and Grant, which is the Gilberts, plus Kobe.
16:16He was there when LeBron won there.
16:18Big, big, big X factor.
16:20Let me talk to you about Brandon Weems.
16:22Brandon Weems is basically LeBron's brother.
16:27That is a big feather in the cap.
16:31Big feather.
16:32In Cleveland.
16:33Big feather because of Brandon Weems.
16:35Now, don't get me wrong.
16:37Dan and Grant and Kobe, we know them.
16:39I miss my guy, Nick Gilbert.
16:40I can only imagine what Nick Gilbert would be saying to me right now.
16:43Talk about the best guy to talk to.
16:45The best.
16:47Now, the negative is, and this is no offense to Harden, no Garland.
16:52Because he loves Garland like he loves Max.
16:56Garland, by the way, a clutch client.
16:58So, you know, I don't consider that to be a negative when it says no Garland.
17:04I just think that's Rich Paul being a little bit grand here with some clutch clients and
17:09trying to ultimately be a little rich.
17:14Also, speaking of rich, they maxed out the Cavs did today.
17:17Sham Sharania broke the story.
17:19Donovan Mitchell got a max contract.
17:21Four years.
17:22Well over $250 million.
17:25Phenomenal for Donovan Mitchell.
17:26You know I love Donovan Mitchell, worth every single penny.
17:29So, this in listening to what Rich Paul had to say, and also the fact that the Cavs were
17:39originally number two on my list behind Golden State when LeBron and the Lakers had their
17:47parting of ways.
17:48I really think right now that we are looking at the Cavs as the leaders in the clubhouse.
17:55They were number two for me behind Golden State originally.
17:58Today, after watching on Netflix the Rich Paul Max Kellerman pod and going through this
18:06and LeBron and everything that he said about the Gilbert family and Weems, Weems is someone
18:13you have to take into account because look, that's LeBron's guy.
18:17And if Rich Paul is going to call him family, we need to take that into account.
18:23So, today, based upon this, if you're asking me, and you are, it's literally my job, where
18:32I think LeBron James is most likely to sign, I think it's going to be Cleveland.
18:37I also think if it's going to be Cleveland, it'll be shorter term in the process.
18:44I think the longer it goes means he's considering other options on the board.
18:50There was a thought process this weekend that we would know who would win the World Cup before
18:58we know whether, where LeBron James is going to play basketball this year.
19:01If it's Cleveland, wouldn't it make sense that it was this week?
19:07Just something to ponder here when you start thinking about the summer of LeBron.
19:12Then we have the 76ers, who entered the chats after trading for Jalen Brown in a move that
19:19shocked the NBA world.
19:22Philadelphia, everything changed.
19:24Do they have his attention as Windhorst is reporting?
19:29How could you not have the attention when you have Maxie, Edgecombe, Brown, and B?
19:33They're missing.
19:34All they really need here is a power forward who can think the game and shoot.
19:39That's why he's in the middle.
19:40But think about it.
19:41So what is the thing?
19:44He loves Maxie.
19:45So we don't even have to talk about that.
19:48I think Vijay, he helps Vijay understand really how to play the game.
19:53Vijay's a baby and he's already good.
19:55Super talented.
19:56Plays both ends of the floor.
19:57Plays hard every night.
19:59The benefit that he gets, he should, I mean, it would be ridiculous.
20:05Obviously, Jalen Brown, right?
20:06Embiid is health and habits.
20:08100%.
20:09If the health and habits of Embiid are there, it's a really good team.
20:11But what I mean is they need a guy to come in and make that.
20:15That by itself doesn't necessarily work.
20:18Right.
20:18But if you add the right guy, LeBron James is the one guy who might be able to unlock that
20:24and get that to be a team.
20:26Yeah.
20:26He enhances everything.
20:28Yeah.
20:28He unlocks everything there.
20:31So I've got a full page of my scribble just based on what he had to say about Philadelphia.
20:36And I think that listening to Rich Paul and the follow-up questions from Max Kellerman,
20:43which was absolutely brilliant.
20:45I love our guy Max.
20:47And you see Maxie has the star, right?
20:49And that's, and I'm obsessed with Maxie.
20:51I think he's one of the best players in the entire league.
20:54He's everything right with sports.
20:56Obviously, when you talk about his intelligence and his energy and how he's a freight train,
21:00but he's always in control.
21:02Maxie, to me, is a huge part of this.
21:04Everything that Rich Paul and Max Kellerman said about Vijay Edgecombe, I agree with
21:10and I've said before.
21:11And Vijay is not one of their clients.
21:14Brown is terrific.
21:16Then they even got into the negatives here on Joel Embiid.
21:20And I thought that was pretty significant because you know I'm not a Joel Embiid fan.
21:24You put LeBron in the middle of this, and if he could bring a championship to Philadelphia,
21:30man, that'd be incredible.
21:33You think about the process.
21:34The process, to me, is fake.
21:36Sam Hickey was the most overrated executive in the history of sports.
21:41Should have never got another job after that.
21:43Then you had Darryl Morey.
21:44That was a mess.
21:45If you put LeBron right smack down, in the middle right here, that team wins the championship.
21:52That, with no hesitation, you know, that's not what I want as a Knicks fan.
21:57But yes, the fact that Rich Paul and Kellerman dove as deep as they did into Philly and used
22:04those words, and even the reference that Kellerman mentioned it with Brian Windhorst, and the
22:09attention, that makes sense.
22:12Yes, I think that Philly is absolutely in the conversation and a real possibility when it comes to LeBron James
22:20and his next destination.
22:22Could LeBron team with Nikola Jokic in the Mile High City?
22:27Here's what Rich Paul had to say about that.
22:29Let's get over here to the Mile High, right?
22:34Murray, Johnson, Gordon, Jokic.
22:38They got one big hurdle.
22:39They still got Peyton Watson, who's a restricted free agent, right?
22:46Kroenke family, we're close to.
22:48So ownership, Harris.
22:49He's got the Midas touch, too, Kroenke.
22:51He's wanting everything.
22:52Is Denver actually a legitimate destination?
22:55It wouldn't be on the board, Max.
22:57Okay.
22:57So here's what's interesting.
23:01Kroenke.
23:02Of all the things that were said about Denver, first of all, the inclusion of Denver, to me, is noteworthy.
23:09Because I would not have put Denver on the list in terms of somewhere I would think LeBron would want
23:16to go, basketball-wise.
23:19Buckle up.
23:20The Nuggets would make a lot of sense.
23:22Jokic and LeBron playing together.
23:24They wouldn't even need a training camp.
23:26We're talking about two of the smartest ballplayers in the last 50 years in the NBA.
23:31It's the Kroenke piece.
23:33Okay?
23:34And obviously, Kroenke is a phenomenal sports owner.
23:37You know, LeBron knows him incredibly well from Los Angeles.
23:40Obviously, Kroenke not only runs and owns the Denver Nuggets, owns and runs the L.A. Rams.
23:47So the fact that he listed these four names, went through it, included it, didn't put them on the outskirts
23:56here of this diagram, I thought was a big deal.
23:59But I want to make a big deal about this, okay?
24:02We'll get into a couple other coaches and executives and owners on this board who were not mentioned.
24:09And I thought that was noteworthy.
24:11The inclusion of Kroenke, to me, is a huge deal.
24:16Now, I never thought I would be saying this about the Minnesota Timberwolves as a destination for King James.
24:22Let's get to Minnesota.
24:25I mean, if you want to win.
24:26You got Ant.
24:27You got LaMelo.
24:30You remember when Ant said, it's okay.
24:33We got Jay McDaniels.
24:35So it's okay because we got Jay McDaniels.
24:38And then you have Gobert, plus Tim Conley, and that ownership group.
24:44So what I love here is, A, that they were included.
24:48And it's not like they were on the outskirts somewhere.
24:51They put Minnesota right under James' name.
24:57That, to me, is noteworthy.
25:00Nothing on this board clearly was done by accident.
25:03And I loved Kellerman's reaction with Ant and Mello.
25:08I mean, again, Carmelo Anthony is always going to be Mello.
25:11We're talking about LaMelo Ball here.
25:12But Ant and Mello and McDaniel and Gobert.
25:15LeBron James on this team, not only as a player, but as a leader for someone like LaMelo Ball and
25:25even for Ant, this team wins the West.
25:28This team could beat OKC.
25:30This team could beat San Antonio.
25:33This, because I think they're dangerously close.
25:36You put James on this squad.
25:38And LeBron has always been.
25:41Now, people assume this will be his final year.
25:44I'm not convinced.
25:46LeBron's talked about this in the past, right?
25:48Give him two years.
25:49You give him two years in Minnesota, I think Minnesota can get over the hump.
25:56And considering the Timberwolves have never won a championship before, obviously that would be amazing for the long-suffering fans
26:03here of the Timberwolves.
26:05Now, here's what I really want to get to, because this was a big deal.
26:09Maybe, in my opinion, the most surprising thing was how Rich Paul, literally on this board, had the Warriors pushed
26:21and positioned to the outside looking in when it came to his whiteboard.
26:26Because there have been so many reports that Golden State was the favorite to land them.
26:31Here's what Rich said.
26:32You see Steph and Dre up there.
26:35Don't forget about Steph and Dre.
26:37Here's what's crazy.
26:37OK, so this tells me a lot.
26:39This doesn't tell you anything.
26:40Either you're playing four-dimensional chess right now, or you just tipped your hand.
26:45No.
26:46I will say why.
26:47All I'm doing is showing you the board.
26:49Silence, everyone.
26:50I will say why.
26:51Ready?
26:51Go ahead.
26:54Everyone's reporting.
26:55And I know you say, what do they know?
26:57It's Cleveland or Golden State.
27:00Golden State was the big one.
27:01But you, of all these things, you just have this Golden State up in the corner.
27:04So either you're doing that purposely to throw us off the scent,
27:10or Golden State really is not as much of a frontrunner as people think,
27:14or is not as much in the lead as people think.
27:16You can think whatever you think.
27:17This is just my board.
27:18You decide what you want to think.
27:19So this is where I really want to get into the whiteboard.
27:25Because we've got LeBron James here.
27:28And we've got these teams here.
27:32And we've got Steph and Draymond here.
27:37Not a single mention, by the way, of Steve Kerr.
27:41Not a single mention of ownership.
27:44This, to me, is noteworthy.
27:47Then today, you have the report from Anthony Slater over at ESPN,
27:53the Warriors don't think they're going to get him.
27:56So when James and the Lakers had the parting of ways,
28:02this was my number one.
28:04Cleveland was my number two.
28:06And it's interesting where these two teams are on the old whiteboard.
28:10So, all of a sudden, you see, in chronological order,
28:15you see LeBron leave L.A.
28:18There are the reports that Golden State's the favorite.
28:21Golden State wants to land Anthony Davis.
28:24We talk about it on Shine Time,
28:27how Anthony Davis should not leave the Washington Wizards,
28:30doesn't benefit Washington.
28:32Then you see this board, and you have Steph,
28:35and you have Dray on the other side,
28:38barely even a mention,
28:40didn't even spend too much time on it.
28:43Ownership is not a factor.
28:45The Hall of Fame coach is not a factor.
28:48And the fact that they're over here,
28:52noteworthy to me.
28:53If I'm a Warriors fan,
28:54or a basketball fan like me,
28:57and I keep talking about, at the end of the day,
29:00the fact that I wanted this,
29:02LeBron going here to Steph and Dre,
29:05because I wanted fun.
29:07Who do I root for?
29:08I root for me.
29:09I wanted to see Steph and LeBron
29:12doing the night-night together,
29:14watching the game over pod,
29:17looking at where you see them on the whiteboard.
29:20That's not it.
29:22That's not what I'm looking for here.
29:24So that, to me, is problematic.
29:25And if I'm a Warriors fan
29:28in conjunction with today's ESPN report,
29:31color me concerned.
29:32Then, of course, you have the Miami Heat.
29:34Now, they did appear in the main circle,
29:37but Rich Paul did not have a whole lot to say about them.
29:42Now you go down south.
29:45Mitchell, Wiggins, Giannis, bam.
29:50Plus Pat, plus Spoh.
29:54So if I'm a Heat fan, I'm concerned.
29:58And I told you when it came to Miami,
30:00and there was enough smoke where I was like,
30:02eh, I'll throw it into the discussion.
30:05But really, they're not a team
30:09that's mentioned or featured or discussed.
30:14I mean, he didn't say anything.
30:17He didn't take notes on it.
30:18They didn't spend any time on it.
30:20And I still maintain this all goes back to Riley,
30:25and it goes back to James,
30:26and the fact that they had a bad breakup.
30:29He was there for four years.
30:31LeBron lived up to his end of the bargain,
30:32won a couple chips.
30:33The two years, he didn't win a championship,
30:35made the NBA Finals.
30:37Pat Riley is stubborn.
30:39You can't rule it out
30:41because it's still Spolstra.
30:42It's still Miami.
30:43It's still Giannis.
30:44I don't think it makes basketball sense.
30:47I don't think, you know,
30:48Cleveland, the return, makes sense.
30:50You can always sell Cleveland
30:52if you're LeBron James.
30:53Always.
30:54It's home, final two years,
30:56kid from Akron.
30:57If he takes Donovan Mitchell to the finals,
31:00takes Cleveland to another championship,
31:01that's fantastic.
31:03That's tremendous.
31:05Takes Miami,
31:06it's the old shoulder shrug.
31:08No one's going to get too excited about that.
31:10I think that Rich Paul told you everything you need to know
31:16about Miami based upon what transpired
31:20and where he put them,
31:22the lack of putting them on the board,
31:24and everything that goes into the mix.
31:27I mean, look at this board, right?
31:29Miami is,
31:31it's like part of the dry erase situation.
31:33That's not what you want here.
31:35Mitchell, Wiggins, Giannis, Bam.
31:40Eh, doesn't do much for me.
31:43See, if he goes to Philly,
31:45that's a championship team.
31:46He goes to the Knicks,
31:48that's a championship team.
31:49And he's not.
31:50Goes to Cleveland,
31:51they can get over the hump.
31:52They can win the Eastern Conference.
31:54Obviously, it'd be a really nice fit
31:56from a Miami standpoint.
31:58For LeBron,
32:00doesn't do anything.
32:01I'll tell you the team that I was surprised by,
32:03the Mavericks.
32:05Now, they're not on the inner circle here,
32:07but Rich Paul had a lot to say
32:10about the advantages they have,
32:12which almost have nothing to do with basketball.
32:16Dallas and Masai.
32:18Now, in Dallas, they got oil,
32:20they got golf,
32:21you got Macau and the Sands group.
32:23And then with Masai,
32:25he got the whole continent of Africa.
32:27A lot comes with Dallas and Masai.
32:29So here's what's interesting about Dallas, right?
32:32Because he literally writes,
32:34oil, golf.
32:37I mean, it's crazy.
32:39Masai, who's an unbelievable executive.
32:42Obviously, we know about Cooper Flagg.
32:44Obviously, we know about Dusty May.
32:46The fact that he included these guys
32:50and some tangibles and intangibles
32:53but didn't include that with Golden State,
32:56he's not going to Dallas.
32:58I would be absolutely floored.
33:01The inclusion is not just interesting
33:04if you're a Mavericks fan.
33:05It's noteworthy in a negative way
33:08if you're a fan of the Golden State Warriors.
33:10That's something that would concern me.
33:13Then you have the Spurs.
33:14And listen, this is what we have for the Spurs.
33:19No Wemby, nothing.
33:22Rich Paul had next to nothing to say about them.
33:25Now, obviously, it is the game over pod,
33:28and it could be game on at any single time
33:31when it comes to Rich Paul, right?
33:33But Rich Paul is, I think he's a supremely bright guy.
33:40This goes back to my original take
33:42on the San Antonio Spurs.
33:45I think Paul and LeBron could sell any of these teams.
33:50Any of these teams.
33:51Except the Spurs.
33:53Except the Spurs.
33:54I don't think Miami does anything for LeBron.
33:56The Spurs, they could win a championship
33:58this upcoming year without LeBron James.
34:00No one bats an eye.
34:01They're literally the favorites today
34:03as we speak to win a championship.
34:05If they win with LeBron, he's going to get killed.
34:08If they lose with LeBron, LeBron's going to get killed.
34:11LeBron won't get killed in the court of public opinion
34:14on any of these teams
34:16with the exception of the San Antonio Spurs.
34:19So that's something to keep in mind.
34:22And again, looking at the whiteboard,
34:25the diagram, understanding the game over pod,
34:29I don't think he's going to the San Antonio Spurs,
34:31which is what I said originally here on Shine Time.
34:35Last but not least, we also have the Boston Celtics
34:37who appeared on the fringes of the board.
34:39Not much was said about them,
34:41and they do not appear to be a likely landing spot.
34:45Big reason for that, well, they no longer have Jalen Brown,
34:49which Brad Stevens discussed yesterday.
34:51The path looked a little bit more challenging
34:54with 70% of our cap
34:56and such a high percent of our usage tied into two players.
35:00And the reality in this era
35:03and in this day and age of the NBA,
35:06and you could see it obviously
35:10with the last couple of champions
35:12and some of the teams that were at the very top of the league
35:15when it was all said and done at the end of this year
35:18is that, you know, you have to do a great job
35:21and you have to have the optionality
35:22to do a great job of building out depth
35:25that can hopefully replace the irreplaceable individual.
35:29I lost sleep over the fan part of this.
35:32I get it.
35:33Like, there's a bunch of seven jerseys around.
35:36I'm pretty sure I bought a couple.
35:38So I get it.
35:42First of all, let's just say it went noted
35:45that he put Brad and Tatum on there.
35:47And that was almost like it was Rich Paul's way
35:49of just reminding people
35:51that Brad Stevens, in his mind,
35:53as a high-powered agent,
35:55is still one of the best in the business.
35:57Jason Tatum, still a superstar.
36:00Now, I give Brad Stevens credits
36:01because yesterday was the first day
36:04that deals were officially legal
36:06and the first opportunity he had
36:07to speak to the news media.
36:09He spoke.
36:10That's a great job by Brad Stevens.
36:12He didn't run from anything.
36:14They also had one of the owners up there,
36:16made sure everyone knew
36:17it's not a financial situation in Boston.
36:20Brad Stevens, Jason Tatum, LeBron James.
36:24It's not happening.
36:26I was stunned that he put these guys on there.
36:29I think that's calculated on the part of Rich Paul
36:34as a way to give Brad Stevens some love.
36:36I don't think there's any question about that.
36:39Stevens yesterday painted another picture of nothing.
36:44Word salad.
36:46Reporters in Boston, I thought,
36:47did an unbelievable job asking Stevens,
36:50well, you know, is this a spot or a situation
36:52where the team is going to be better?
36:54He said, we'll find out.
36:55He likes Paul George.
36:57He praised Jalen Brown.
36:58Let me tell you all,
36:59everything that this was code for
37:01at the end of the day,
37:02the only thing that this was code for
37:05was we had to trade Jalen Brown.
37:08He can't say we traded him
37:10because of his Twitch stream.
37:11He can't say we traded him
37:13because the team blew a 3-1 lead
37:15against Philadelphia,
37:17and, you know,
37:18he felt like he had to get rid of him
37:19because he called in,
37:20Brown did season of his life.
37:23I mean, otherwise,
37:24at the end of the day,
37:25they would have never traded Jalen Brown,
37:27but Brown put him in a position
37:29where they had to trade him.
37:30Now, having to trade him
37:32and trading him to Philly in the division
37:35to an Eastern Conference foe
37:37and giving Philadelphia a real shot,
37:40even with Joel Embiid,
37:41who's a losing ball player,
37:43a real shot to win a championship,
37:44that's a different story.
37:46Trading him is one thing.
37:47This atrocious deal,
37:49that's one of the worst deals I've ever seen.
37:51And I have historically,
37:52we go back to Butler.
37:54I love Brad Stevens.
37:55I think he's remarkable.
37:56That trade remains the theater of the absurd.
38:02And a follow-up to our earlier reporting
38:04and takes here on Shine Time,
38:06I can confirm.
38:08Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey got married
38:11at Madison Square Garden on Friday.
38:13Adam Sandler officiated.
38:16How great is that?
38:16Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney performed.
38:19There were prizes being given away.
38:23Phenomenal.
38:23And a guest list that ranged far and wide.
38:27So, here's my question.
38:30Why are people hating on this?
38:32You know why Taylor and Travis did this?
38:35Because they can.
38:36By the way, Taylor Swift,
38:38who is so brilliant and so smart,
38:40and I saw her say this a year ago
38:43on an interview,
38:44that she doesn't like when people have a wedding
38:47and they have to start cutting people
38:49because of a certain number.
38:50She was going to invite everyone.
38:52So, I want you to look at this list, right?
38:55I mean, Ross Tucker is on the list.
38:59I've known Ross for a long time,
39:01going back to SiriusXM.
39:03Now, of course, the Ross Tucker podcast,
39:05CBS Sports.
39:07Ross is a great dude.
39:10Normally, you wouldn't put Ross Tucker
39:12and Jessica Alba in the same category.
39:15Now, I love Adam Scott.
39:17Love Parks and Rec.
39:18Did I know that Adam Scott was going to be there?
39:20No.
39:21Kevin Burkhart, my guy.
39:23I've known Kevin forever.
39:25Love seeing him and his wife there.
39:27That was fantastic.
39:28Jason Sudeikis, who doesn't love Ted Lasso?
39:30J-Lo was there.
39:32Hugh Grant was there.
39:34Christian Cavallari was there.
39:35That wasn't on my list.
39:37I had no idea.
39:38Machine Gun Kelly was there.
39:40And same with Shabuzzi.
39:43Jim Nance.
39:44Hello, friends.
39:45Reportedly there.
39:47Tony Romo.
39:49I don't know, Jim.
39:50Reportedly there.
39:51That's my guy, Tony Romo.
39:53I would have loved to sit next to Tony Romo.
39:54I don't know what Ryan Fitzpatrick was wearing.
39:57Doesn't matter.
39:58Love Ryan Fitzpatrick.
40:00You saw Matthew Stafford and his wife.
40:02Carissa Thompson was there.
40:04Aaron Andrews was there.
40:05I mean, Mike Vrabel was there.
40:09Eric Stonestreet was there.
40:10Look at our guy Kev and Craig Olson.
40:13Dean Blandino's throwing flags during the wedding.
40:16Who the hell knows what's going on?
40:18Now, why do they do this?
40:21Because they can.
40:23Listen, I think the whole thing is unbelievable.
40:26I give Taylor and Travis so much credit.
40:30Because, first of all, on Thursday night, they had the more condensed, shorter, more intimate rehearsal dinner for 100 people.
40:391,000 people at Madison Square Garden.
40:43It's the celebrity sports wedding of our lifetime.
40:47Everybody's talking about it.
40:48By the way, 100 degrees in New York City on Friday, July 3rd.
40:55Man, I'm sick and tired of people hating on it.
40:58And I want you to think about this, right?
41:01Were you scrolling?
41:03I was scrolling.
41:04I couldn't get enough.
41:06Who's there?
41:06Who's here?
41:07Oh, they're here?
41:08That's it.
41:09This is awesome.
41:10This picture?
41:11You know, what's Paul Rudd doing there?
41:14Kansas City guy, by the way.
41:15You know, he's got a lot of connection.
41:17Andy Reid in the house.
41:18Patrick Mahomes and Brittany were there.
41:20Where's Will Compton?
41:22I couldn't get enough of following this.
41:25Everyone's watching.
41:26Everyone's out there.
41:28Everyone's scrolling.
41:29People are still talking about it.
41:33That's why it works.
41:35And I give Taylor so much credit.
41:38I give Travis so much credit.
41:40And for Travis, I mean, Kareem Hunts was there.
41:44You know, he has former teammates who are there.
41:47He has potential future media partners there.
41:51You know, you had Taylor Swift with old friends, new friends.
41:55People don't even know they're friends.
41:56Let me go back to the original premise.
41:59Ross Tucker was there.
42:02Rich Eisen was there.
42:04You know why it's great?
42:06You know why they did it?
42:07Because they can.
42:08If I could have invited 1,000 people to my wedding,
42:11I would have done that.
42:13I thought we had a big wedding of 260 people.
42:16Listen, this is amazing.
42:19This is what Travis and Taylor do.
42:21It's the wedding of our lives.
42:23Everyone was into it.
42:25Monitoring the dresses, the outfits, who's there, who's not there.
42:31Analyzing the algorithms.
42:33Everything is Travis.
42:34Everything is Taylor.
42:35And as someone who loves football, obviously, loves Taylor Swift,
42:40this was the ultimate confluence of events.
42:43So, why is it awesome?
42:46Because it is.
42:47Because it was a show.
42:49We still don't have the pictures of what everything looked like inside.
42:53I mean, Joe Buck was there.
42:56If Joe Buck's there, you know it's awesome.
42:58Why is Joe Buck there?
43:00Because he can be.
43:01So, I thought this was the coolest thing ever.
43:04Props to Travis.
43:06Props to Taylor.
43:07I believe in true love.
43:08They're going to live happily ever after.
43:11We're going to see Taylor at all these games now for Travis.
43:14It's going to be unbelievable.
43:16This wedding more than outkicked the expectations,
43:20the buzz, the intrigue, the scrolling factor.
43:24Looking at Page Six and the New York Post on Instagram,
43:28I couldn't get enough.
43:30But wait, there's more.
43:31What adjustments, if any, did you make in between starts
43:34to get better results tonight?
43:37None really.
43:37Again, just stick to my strengths and try and do what I do best.
43:40And that's, you know, attack hitters with, you know, three fastballs.
43:43Did you feel like you came out here with more of a chip on your shoulder
43:45to tonight trying to get right?
43:49Yeah, I mean, again, last week was tough, right?
43:55And because, you know, I have one bad outing,
43:58so, again, it was personal to go out there
43:59and just have a dominant start
44:01and put this team in the right position.
44:04I know it's only two a lot,
44:06but do you think this series is a big one for you guys
44:09to just get where the standings are at?
44:10For sure.
44:11Again, I feel like we dug ourselves in a hole a little bit,
44:15so it's good to go out there and get the first one,
44:17and we got a chance to, you know, shake things up.
44:20Cam, I am you freak.
44:22Schlitt happens.
44:24Let me tell you something.
44:26The cursing there was unbelievable,
44:28and I'm a big believer in that.
44:30If you can do that as an in-sentence, in-moments exclamation point,
44:35that is terrific.
44:37And Cam telling our friend Meredith Marakovitz over at the Yes Network,
44:41yeah, it freaking bothered him
44:43that people were saying,
44:44oh, you know, Cam regressed,
44:46and he's no longer the Cy Young favorite,
44:48and the Yankees have been awful
44:50based upon what he did against the Tigers.
44:52That last night was the ultimate ace moment.
44:57The Yankees have not only been bad,
44:59they've been atrocious.
45:00They've been lethargic.
45:01An unwatchable, unmitigated disaster
45:04leading into this massive four-game series
45:07that started last night in Tampa against a team
45:09that is in first place in the AL East, your Tampa race.
45:12And the Yankees, losing 9-10,
45:16offense terrible, manager terrible, fundamentals terrible,
45:20the defense terrible,
45:21all of it has been an unwatchable baseball team.
45:24If you can't beat the Minnesota Twins,
45:27who have been a forever-long punching bag for the New York Yankees,
45:31regular season, postseason,
45:33I mean, how many times did they beat the hell out of Ron Garnenheier's
45:36Minnesota Twins, you know, for all those years in the playoffs?
45:38If you can't take a series against the Minnesota Twins,
45:41the problems are even bigger than I thought.
45:43So for Cam Schlittler to have the ultimate,
45:49get on my back, boys, shift the conversation,
45:52kick ass, take names, ace performance,
45:56on the road against the piping hot Rays team,
45:59eight flawless, dominant, my mound, my game in innings.
46:04Eight strikeouts, four hits, no walks.
46:08That's what an ace does.
46:10Look, the Yankees remain unwatchable.
46:13They still have three more games to go against Tampa.
46:16I'm not making any declarations on the future.
46:20But man, Cam Schlittler fires me up.
46:23It's been a minute since I've been fired up about the Yankees, right?
46:27The Yankees have been atrocious, absolutely atrocious.
46:31By the way, Caballero hit a couple home runs playing shortstop
46:33if I ever see Volpe's face again.
46:34I'm going to throw up.
46:36That was inspiring.
46:38Just a friendly reminder.
46:40Cam Schlittler should be the pitcher for the American League
46:43in the All-Star Game.
46:44Cam Schlittler should be the Cy Young.
46:47Cam, I am, you freak.
46:49That's the show.
46:50If you miss any portion of the program, just do what I do.
46:52Rewatch the show over and over and over again.
