Wednesbury killer Andrew Gorrell must serve at least twenty-five years for the killing of John Edwards in a fire.

00:00A family home in Wentzbury became the scene of a fire after a wheelie bin was set alight against its

00:07John Edwards, aged 82, died in hospital two weeks later.
00:12His sons, Carl and Mark, were inside as the flame spread.
00:17Wolverhampton Crown Court heard the burning bin block the main exit.
00:21Prosecutors said Andrew Garrell travelled by train from Chester to Wolverhampton,
00:27then took a tram to Wentzbury before the attack.
00:31Garrell from Sultney and Flinshire had been drinking.
00:35Prosecutors said he set three other wheelie bins alight nearby before the blaze.
00:40Why he went to Wentzbury or chose the Edwards family home has never been explained.
00:46A jury convicted the 55-year-old of murdering Mr Edwards.
00:51He was also found guilty of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent,
00:58attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, and arson with intent to endanger life.
01:05Judge Chambers said Garrell was highly dangerous.
01:09He cited a previous arson conviction and called it random.
01:13The judge said no sentence could turn back time or place of value on Mr Edwards' life.
01:19Garrell was jailed for life.
01:21He must serve at least 25 years before becoming eligible to apply for parole.
01:26The other sentences will run concurrently.
