Recruitment has opened for the next permanent Chief Constable of West Midlands Police following Craig Guildford’s retirement in January. The appointment comes after a period of scrutiny which damaged confidence in the force.

00:42Candidates must hold the rank of assistant chief constable or above.
00:46The Commissioner says he's written to officers who meet that requirement seeking a wide field of applicants.
00:52The process will include interviews with regional stakeholders before Mr Foster's final panel.
