Plans have been submitted to continue the careful removal of Grenfell Tower, alongside preparations for a future memorial. The process remains subject to separate planning decisions and oversight.

00:00The government has applied for planning permission to complete the dismantling of Grenfell Tower
00:05in West London. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has submitted an application
00:11to the Planning Inspectorate for sensitive works to carefully take the building down,
00:16apart from its basement. It's separate from a planned memorial application expected later
00:21this year. Demolition work began in September 2025 and is expected to last around two years.
00:28It was previously allowed under permitted development rules, but that permission has now expired after 12 months.
00:35The new Crown Development application will be decided by the Secretary of State as the process continues.
