00:02Hi, if you are watching this video, you have probably seen a few other Exit Hate videos before.
00:08Today, I'm going to talk to you about what we want to achieve.
00:12Set up in 2016 as a community group, we have developed over the years becoming a community
00:18interest company, a charity gaining special consultative status with the UN Economics
00:24and Social Council, and now we are a partner with the Christchurch Call Foundation.
00:29Developing slowly, we know the struggle against extremism is going to take a long time.
00:35We believe all extremism is wrong, and the only way to challenge hate is to work in partnership.
00:42Looking ahead, we believe the best way to reduce extremism is via education, compassion and understanding.
00:50We know we can't reduce hate on our own, and this is where we need to work with others
00:54to build a country we can all be proud of.
00:56Offering support to people involved in extremism, and to families with a loved one involved,
01:01our support changes to provide the best service possible.
01:05Providing online support programmes, educational material, and, where needed, one-to-one support.
01:12Our support comes from a place of lived experience, with many of our staff being former activists,
01:18or families who have had a loved one involved, and people understand we do this because we care.
01:23Getting support from Exit Hate was something I never thought I would do, but I'm glad I did.
01:29They listened, didn't judge, and helped me see that involvement in extremism was wrong,
01:34and hurt the victims of hate, those involved, and our families.
01:38Forever grateful, Exit Hate gave me the chance I needed, and this is why Exit needs your support.
01:45Seeing what Exit Hate does is inspiring.
01:47Before I knew about Exit, I thought people involved in the far right hated people because of their colour,
01:53but there is so much more to it.
01:54There are many reasons why people get involved, and they helped me see this.
01:58Listening to Exit Hate explain how people get involved in the far right,
02:03because of things like poverty, divorce, abuse, and more, challenged my own views.
02:07It helped me embrace their idea that we have to see beyond labels and look at people as people.
02:14It's tough, but we have to break the cycle of hate.
02:18So now you know a little bit more about us and what we do.
02:20To progress, we need your support.
02:23Looking for help, we need people to write articles for our blog,
02:27take part in podcasts, create interesting videos and promotional items,
02:31and make a financial contribution if you can.
02:34As a small charity, we hate asking, but without your support, we can't help people,
02:40and we need to, to reduce extremism.
