00:00Red Sox and White Sox, two teams that have flipped spots in terms of Sox this season.
00:05White Sox pushing for the postseason.
00:07Red Sox pushing toward going fishing.
00:09Peyton Tolley and Schultz.
00:11Martin, of course, will pitch for the White Sox.
00:13He's one of their top starters.
00:15Anthony Kay.
00:16I mean, the Red Sox just do not have a formidable lineup going right now, Tom.
00:20And it just seems like as soon as games start, they're down 2-0.
00:22They're down 3-0 and have to come back.
00:25Yeah, if they're not playing the Yankees, the Red Sox look terrible.
00:29That's just what it comes down to.
00:30And, again, I think the White Sox, the turnaround that they've had this season,
00:34some people expect them to have one of the worst records in baseball along with the Rockies
00:38to see what they've done with their young core, I think is really, really exciting.
00:43For the Red Sox, obviously, it's great to get a big series win against your rivals like the Yankees
00:48and sweep them and feel good about that.
00:51But ultimately, the season's going nowhere.
00:53So trade away some players and good for the White Sox thus far.
00:58Guardians take on the Twins in the early part of the week.
01:01Gavin Williams will start Thursday.
01:03He has been really good for Cleveland.
01:06For the Twins, they're just kind of going through it right now, trying to figure out who they are, Tom.
01:11And, you know, outside of Byron Buxton, it's pretty much been a lost season for Minnesota.
01:16This is what we thought.
01:17They actually played, I thought, a little bit better than most people predicted in April and May.
01:22But then that sort of went sideways in June.
01:24And, you know, Buxton has said he wants to stay in Minnesota.
01:26So it's going to be a slow summer, I think, in Minneapolis.
01:29I think it is as well.
01:31But this is also a spot for the Guardians to pick up at least two.
01:34They've got to pick up at least two wins in this.
01:36You know, they're tied for the divisional lead right now with the White Sox.
01:40If they truly want to compete for the postseason, we've got to remember, they're doing this all without J-Rant.
01:45They're kind of treading water.
01:46They're kind of doing all right without Jose Ramirez, their best player.
01:49So they've got to be able to pick up two out of three against the twins who are clearly inferior
01:53to them.
01:54Pick up these wins and continue to maintain as long as Ramirez is out and be in a spot to
01:59compete once he's ready to come back.
02:02Detroit, it's now or never.
02:04It's time for Detroit to keep pushing here if they want to stay in this thing.
02:07It feels like they kind of do, but I don't know that they will.
02:11Right matchup for them on Tuesday.
02:12Tigers will be hugely favored with Tarek Skubal on the bump.
02:16And then Melton and Valdez will close out the series.
02:18A's are probably happy.
02:19They won't give up 10 runs a game in Sacramento, I would guess, this series.
02:24But Detroit's starting to play a little bit better baseball, Tom.
02:27I wonder if there's another jump-off point for them here.
02:30It's going to be really interesting because both of these teams need two wins.
02:35They both need three wins when it comes to this series.
02:37The Tigers, if they lose two of three to the Athletics, you've got to trade Skubal sooner rather than later.
02:45I know, Craig, you think they should be waiting up until the deadline to get the best deal possible, but
02:49you also just want to get out ahead of it sometimes and get the best deal for the most desperate
02:54team early because the A's are still in it.
02:57The A's are still in it, and the Tigers don't look to be in it, at least when it comes
03:00to the division or the AL wild card overall.
03:02So I would say trade Skubal as early as possible, get the best deal you can, and I know those
03:07things may seem a little bit separate.
03:09Getting the best deal you can and trading, I think you want to get out in front of it.
03:12The A's, they're in a spot to compete for the division because there's about four teams within four games of
03:17the AL West.
03:17If they take two out of three off the Detroit Tigers, it's sell, sell, sell for the Tigers.
03:22Yeah, I just, I don't see either team going anywhere, but I also don't see Skubal getting moved anytime soon.
03:28I think Tigers are going to wait this out till the very end.
