00:00Something that stuck out the other day to me was when they took out Ronaldo, and I heard a lot
00:06of people say that the coach from Portugal should have been doing this a long time ago, and boy, the
00:13onions it took for him to do that, and they get the win.
00:18Was it the right move, in your opinion, Michelle, then pulling Ronaldo out like that and substituting him?
00:23Well, they substituted him, and they scored just a few minutes later after he left.
00:27I mean, there had been people saying, and look, this World Cup so far, the stars have really stepped up
00:34except for him, but you know, you look at the golden boot race right now, and Messi at 39 years
00:41old, can we even just forget about it?
00:44This guy's unbelievable, but he's in first place right now, Kylian Mbappe, Harry Kane, you know, all these guys, Holland,
00:53these are the best players.
00:54These are the best players in the world, and they're all stepping up in this World Cup, which usually doesn't
01:00happen.
01:00A lot of times, you know, some new players come along and become stars, and the stars of the tournament
01:05sometimes don't have great tournaments.
01:08In this World Cup, all the superstars, the really big superstars have all stepped up except Ronaldo.
01:16Ronaldo has not been as in form as the other top players that you see on the list of the
01:23golden boot, and yeah, there were a lot of people who felt, you know, he's 41, and that he, that
01:29the team was better without him.
01:31Before the World Cup started, there were people saying that the team, Portugal team is better without Ronaldo on the
01:37field, and you know, Portugal so far, even though they have advanced, and obviously things can change.
01:43This tournament, as we saw last night, anything can happen, but up until that point, Portugal had probably been the
01:49biggest disappointment in this World Cup.
01:52Portugal and Uruguay just not living up to the expectations.
01:56Portugal was expected to be a contender to win the title.
01:59Portugal, Norway, and Morocco were sort of the three, you know, non-favorite favorites that had a chance that everybody
02:07was talking about.
02:07A lot of people were talking about Portugal as a serious contender, and up until this last game, they looked
02:13very shaky, and a lot of people felt that Ronaldo was kind of taking up a space on the field
02:19and just couldn't run and couldn't do what he used to do.
02:22They take him out and they score right away, and they end up winning, but in my opinion, they won
02:27on a very bad call against Croatia.
02:30I mean, I think that game should have played out.
02:33When that goal was scored by Croatia, to me, that was a goal.
02:36I've watched it 83 different angles.
02:39That goal should have been a goal.
02:40It would have been 2-2, and let them play it out.
02:43Let them play that game out and see what happens.
02:45But they kind of took that opportunity away from Croatia, so I'm just, I'm not, you know, I think Portugal
02:52has not done much to be proud of so far.
