00:00A rising number of vessels are now actually crossing the Strait of Hormuz with their trackers turned on.
00:07Derek, do you think this is now a positive sign of progress during the latest round of indirect talks between
00:13the U.S. and Iran in Doha?
00:16Because, of course, we know that we saw Kushner and Wyckoff there, but the Iranian delegation didn't meet them.
00:22Yeah, I think it's certainly a positive sign because any time you turn on those AISs, that means that those
00:28commercial ships can be identified and they're therefore targeted.
00:32And so in doing so, it demonstrates that the private companies that are operating their ships through the Strait of
00:39Hormuz, they are taking on some risk, but they think that it is a controlled risk, right?
00:45They think that it is a manageable risk. It is not something that's going to result in them not being
00:51able to go through the Strait of Hormuz safely.
00:54And so, look, I think that it's going to take time to get back to normal, and I think this
01:00is one step in that direction.
01:01But I also want to see both the Iranians and the Americans begin to do some demining of the Strait
01:08of Hormuz, which, you know, as we've talked about before, could take at least a month, probably in upwards of
01:15two to three months, in order to safely and effectively demine the entire Strait,
01:22so that you don't have accidental destruction of commercial ships as well, in addition to, you know, not just like
01:28Iranian troops firing upon them based on targeting data from AIS.
