00:00The stuff of nightmares allegedly hidden behind the doors of this simple Ohio home.
00:05This is pure evil. What we saw down here today is pure evil.
00:11Sixteen children, ranging from 18 months to 18 years old,
00:15were pulled out of what authorities are calling a house of horrors,
00:19conditions inside described as deplorable.
00:21Our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children.
00:26Four adults arrested, now charged.
00:28All of those counts are felonies of the second degree.
00:3273-year-old Gary Siders and his 36-year-old son appeared together on camera for their arraignment today.
00:38We'll be right with you.
00:39Then 67-year-old Christina Siders and 33-year-old Elizabeth Siders appeared by video, sitting side by side.
00:46Grandma, grandpa, father and mother at this point. That's what we know.
00:53All four adults charged with 16 counts of endangering children
00:57and being held on $300,000 bond each.
01:00They all pled not guilty.
01:03The Siders are facing anywhere from 16 to 128 years in prison.
01:08The house is located in the small village of Hamden, part of Ohio's rural southeastern Appalachian region.
01:14There isn't much evidence that kids lived there.
01:16I didn't actually go into the room where the kids were.
01:19I just looked through the door. That was yesterday. I can still smell. I can't get the smell.
01:24The children were kept in a roughly 12 by 12 area. It seems like it's where they've spent the most
01:32of the last four years.
01:34The big question for me as a defense attorney, who's going to talk first? Someone's going to point the finger
01:39at someone.
01:40It's horrific. That's as nasty. It's horrific. It really is.
01:43Neighbors are surprised and shaken that this situation could have been happening with no one noticing.
01:49I prayed a whole lot that all them kids get better.
01:54Several of the children are in serious condition. Two of the children had to be care flighted to level one
01:59trauma centers.
02:00The 16 children were initially checked out. Some were taken to hospitals across the state, where they will likely remain
02:07for a while.
02:07I think if they would have waited another 24 hours, there was a very high probability that we'd be dealing
02:14with a death or multiple deaths of these children.
