00:01We know that police are now investigating this as a potentially attempted murder.
00:07We know that this little boy, three years old, has suffered serious injuries from finding himself inside a crocodile enclosure.
00:16And as you said, we know that the man who has been arrested and the boy are not thought at
00:21this stage by police to be known to each other.
00:24I can tell you a little bit more about what happened.
00:26It was just before half past one, this lunchtime, that officers were called here to reports of an incident in
00:32which, in their words, the three-year-old boy ended up inside that enclosure with crocodiles.
00:38Mag Pass, the air ambulance, of course, were called to the scene.
00:42They treated the boy and he was taken by the ambulance service to Addenbrooke's Hospital, where this evening he is
00:48said to be in a critical but stable condition.
00:51Specially trained police officers supporting his family this evening.
00:57Officers very keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this horrific, horrific incident.
01:02It's a living nightmare, isn't it, Claire?
01:05What do we know about the man who has been arrested?
01:11At this stage, we know very little.
01:14We know that he's 30 years old.
01:16We know that he is from Norfolk.
01:19And we know that an investigation is now active, that he has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
01:26And, Claire, what can you tell us about the zoo itself?
01:32It's a very popular attraction locally.
01:35Lots of people who live around here and from further afield, particularly those with young children, will have visited here.
01:40I remember first reporting from this site around 20 years ago, when it was very much a working farm.
01:46It's still a family farm, a family business.
01:48And at that stage, they had all the animals that you'd expect.
01:51And they'd just introduced the first of their crocodiles in a bid to sort of diversify the business and welcome
01:57in more visitors.
01:58It has grown by leaps and bounds since then.
02:01Lots of additions in the buildings behind me, including a very popular farm shop and a cafe.
02:06And according to its website, it now has 100 animals on site, including lions and tigers and, of course, the
02:14crocodiles as well.
02:15We were here back in April reporting on tourism in the heat wave.
02:19But, of course, today's story, very, very different, very distressing for people living locally.
02:24And we can speak to a local councillor now, Charlotte Lowe, who is both a district and county councillor.
02:29Charlotte, thank you for making time this evening.
02:32What is the reaction locally? It's such a shock.
02:37It is. Everybody's flabbergasted with it.
02:41Everyone's in complete shock. How on earth has it managed to happen?
02:44And you don't expect it to happen on your doorstep in a rural village.
02:48It is every parent's nightmare, isn't it?
02:50Particularly those of us who brought our own children along, or your nieces, I think you said.
02:53Yes, brought my nieces here.
02:55Yeah, yeah, it's just, my thoughts and prayers are really for the family and the staff at Johnson's who've had
03:00to go through all of this as well.
03:03It's awful. I'd hate to be going through that myself.
03:07Not nice.
03:08I'd hate to be going through that myself.
03:08I'd hate to be going through that myself.
