00:02Illinois State Police telling us four young female students ages 4 to 18 years old
00:08were killed in this tragic accident.
00:10All of this happening at the Y-Not after-school camp in Chatham,
00:13and police say there are several more people hurt.
00:16A tragic scene out of central Illinois tonight.
00:19Police say the driver of an SUV hit several people
00:22outside of the Y-Not after-school camp in Chatham
00:25before crashing through the building.
00:27Vehicle crashed into the east side of the building,
00:32went through the building, and exited out the west side.
00:36Police say three of the victims were hit outside of the building,
00:39and another was hit inside.
00:41Chatham police believe at least six others suffered injuries,
00:44and they say one of those people had to be airlifted to the hospital.
00:48The driver was the only person in the vehicle.
00:51They were not hurt, but that person was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
00:54It created a chaotic scene.
00:57With families of the camp being redirected to a nearby church
01:00to reunite with their children.
01:02Governor J.B. Pritzker's office says it is closely monitoring the situation.
01:06The governor released a statement tonight saying,
01:09I am horrified and deeply saddened by the deaths of children
01:12and numerous injuries in Chatham this afternoon.
01:15Our community lost a group of bright and innocent young people
01:18with their whole lives ahead of them.
01:20Governor Pritzker says Illinois State Police is now helping with this investigation.
01:25They expect more updates soon.
01:27We still don't know what caused that driver to crash.
