00:00We are conducting the MENACOG study which is a 12-week clinical trial looking at whether creatine
00:07can help with cognition, memory, thinking and mood in post-menopausal women who are experiencing
00:15changes in their memory and thinking since menopause. So the study will be conducted
00:21completely online which means that you can do the assessments from your home. There's no in-person
00:27visits available so this is open to women right around Australia. All that would be involved is
00:33an in-person blood test and we're really looking to see whether creatine can improve these markers
00:40and if so that would allow us to have proof of concept to scale up to a larger clinical efficacy
00:48study in future. Creatine is best known for its bodybuilding, its sports nutrition effects and it's
00:56very well studied there but the reason we're interested in creatine for the brain is because
01:02creatine is very much involved in the way that cells produce and recycle energy and the brain is a very
01:11energy hungry tissue. So the idea is that supplementing with creatine can help the brain
01:21meet its energy demands and this is something that we see over the menopause transition that
01:28with changes in hormones like estrogen that affects the way that the brain can produce energy which is
01:35why we see those commonly reported symptoms like brain fog and trouble concentrating finding words.
01:42So we believe that supplementing with creatine may help bridge that energy deficit in the brain and help
01:52mitigate some of those symptoms and support overall brain function. The best way is to visit the website
01:59which is menocog.com.au. There you'll find all the information that you need, what's involved,
02:09how much time it will take, how long it will go for and then you can register your interest via
02:15the
02:16website, complete a very short screening survey and then our research team will be in touch with next
02:22steps. Research only advances with the time and generosity of our participants so a big thank you to
02:31everybody who has given their time for research, we really appreciate it.
