00:00you mentioned greg norman a little bit earlier talking about his driving ability and how how
00:04great of a driver he was the ball you know greg when i watch his swing and i just look
00:10at from
00:10the belt down and i see scotty sheffler swing from the belt down and we always are are talking
00:16about scotty's footwork and how you would never teach it but there are some some tendencies that
00:22that scotty has in his footwork that reminds me a little bit on how greg norman's feet work do you
00:27see that at all is that just my just my weird eye yeah greg's wall swing before i got in
00:33the way
00:33the right foot used to slide out because he'd get the club stuck underneath him and slide through it
00:38uh to go back to scotty for a minute everybody talks about how bad his footwork is look at him
00:43at impact it's perfect his feet are in perfect position at impact this is the momentum of
00:49everything that's carrying him through in the path of a club for the shot he's trying to hit
00:53in greg's old swing he had the right foot slide like scotty has scotty gets the left foot a little
00:59more open and slides uh when i changed greg's swing we kind of took that out of that and got
01:05it wider
01:05a little shorter and quieted the footwork down a little but i i find it very amusing that everybody
01:13talks about boy he has such terrible footwork gosh he's the number one player in the world
01:18he's footwork is fine the most important part of a golf swing is impact okay that's the most
01:24important part get the club on the right path and square it impact and if you look at his feet
01:29the right heel is a little bit ahead of the toe the way it should be the left foot the
01:35weights roll over
01:36on the outside and then the momentum takes all this other stuff into effect but at impact which is the
01:42most important part is perfect and what about just uh you know you mentioned the impact now some of us
01:50could say like it'd be nice to be able to get to that spot consistently and then i think in
01:55my brain
01:55my my pro my my mind would go towards can you get proper sequencing out of the top of the
02:02golf swing
02:02and i was actually talking with tommy fleetwood at the range uh at the traverse championship this week
02:08and i was like tommy it all looks pretty good he said what you're working on and he said you
02:12know
02:12a lot of the same stuff you know butch just has me you know just trying to get this little
02:16feel out
02:16of the top to get the proper sequencing uh can you just talk about that for those that are listening
02:21that uh you know most amateurs i would say probably go in reverse order out of the top their their
02:26arms
02:27their shoulders go first you know what are you looking for for proper sequencing for for pros and
02:32that also amateurs can kind of take nobody was a great player before he came to me four years ago
02:36i i think he's become even now a more elite player because he's more consistent in his ball striking
02:43but if you watch him with that practice when he does where he stops and then he goes to the
02:47top and
02:48stops he have a tendency to get quick from the top so he does this on every swing you can
02:53see him
02:53doing it you know that the downswing has to start from the ground up it doesn't start from the top
02:59to
02:59the bottom the average player starts up here because they're swinging as hard as they can in case they hit
03:03it
03:03we don't know what the hell they're doing anything you know they throw this at arms and hands are way
03:09outside and they get you know they hit them all over the place you watch a tour player and one
03:14of
03:14the things i've had to work hard with Tommy on is his change of direction he gets a little quick
03:19in his
03:19change of direction he's not a very big guy he's only about five nine and you know he gets the
03:24club in a
03:25really good position here but every now and then he starts down a little quick and because he draws the
03:30ball his natural shot his miss then would be a little to the left and he knows that and that's
03:35why he does all those factor springs he has worked very hard on controlling his balls through the air
03:41i've tried to really get him short irons to bring the ball flight down uh he hits that nine wood
03:47all
03:47the time my god oh he's so good at it too you know my club and anthem country club every
03:53friday
03:54men's day we get about 80 or 90 guys and we get a good game so i was working with
03:59tommy when he was
04:00here a couple months ago and i said uh hey you want to come over and play in the men's
04:05call he said i'd
04:05love to so i told him the pro shop don't put his name on the thing okay no don't just
04:10just put a
04:11fictitious name in there so we walk out on the range and the range of packs you know i mean
04:15you can't
04:16get it people look and they go that is that is is that really time is he gonna play in
04:23the game
04:23today they said what handicap do you want to give him i said plus seven yeah yeah that's probably about
04:29right i'm going back to the nine wood because it's a funny story he hit two nine was that day
04:34on two par
04:35fives both of them from about 240 to 245 to about 12 feet eagle to both and i said i
04:41tell these guys i
04:41see him at the cover i said you see time at three was he's a nine of seven and nine
04:45what you need
04:46to use one he goes mine doesn't go 240 yeah i've got one that goes about 160 that's okay it's
04:54you
04:55know what i love about tommy is he's a very hard worker he really works hard smiley he he whether
