00:00Found all over France today, the Croque Monsieur has countless recipes and many, many variations.
00:06And we're going to make the bechamel first. It'll be ready.
00:09Cook the flour in the butter and have one cup of whole milk simmering on the stove.
00:16And stir or whisk. As soon as this comes to a boil, it will thicken and then you can add
00:21a little bit of salt, a little bit of pepper. And the flavoring for a bechamel is fresh nutmeg,
00:28freshly grated nutmeg. Half a cup of grated Gruyere. So that's your bechamel. Eight slices of big fat
00:37baguette. We'll spread a little bit of mustard on your bread. Put a little bit of beautiful ham on
00:45your sandwich and be generous with the ham. And now some Gruyere cheese. This goes right on top of the
00:54ham topped with the other piece of toast. Top each with some bechamel. A little bit more Gruyere cheese on
01:03top. So get this into your 400 degree oven. 15 minutes. Don't those look superb?
