00:14thanks for having us um so before we talk about y'all new tv series uh revealed secrets all right
00:21y'all people love y'all on social media okay love seeing y'all interact and just be y'all

00:26that difficult for y'all to just be um expose yourselves to the world like i know y'all act
00:31but it's like now y'all showing people the real mckeeva and the real james you know i honestly
00:35been like on social media before i started acting so for me it was like the normal got you but

00:41yeah i mean i was a social media person but i wasn't necessarily like because i'm private you
00:48know what i'm saying so she bring out that for me you know i'm saying she's silly goofy so it's

00:53of easy to interact they're just following her lead in a way gotcha yeah yeah does that translate
00:59to the camera better um when y'all do actual scenes and stuff i think so okay no for sure

01:16saying so but i think it's a blessing though it's real healthy in a relationship you know i'm saying
01:20you you stay laughing so um yeah man nice um you guys have a new tv series coming out revealed
01:27secrets yes sir talk to us about your uh first of all your characters and talk to us a little

01:32about the um what the show is about um okay so reveal secrets actually it's the first tv series
01:37that rewrote we wrote ourselves um and we put a lot of hard work and dedication into this it's a
01:43drama
01:44series um my character i start off as like a i don't want to say a retired detective but you
01:51know
01:51i'm a detective and it's a lot of secrets being revealed i'm more of the i'll say stable character
01:57i'm the character that you know everyone can come to i'm the one with the advice i'm the one that
02:03you know i'm the good person as of now so it's it's a really good drama and it's a lot

02:09favorites in it so i just can't wait for y'all to see it nice yeah what about you yeah

02:14man um so my character i'm just don't just don't let my character start drinking man you never know
02:20what you're gonna get out of them you know i'm saying um but it was fun you know i'm saying

02:25you say we got an all-star cast um shout out to denzel danger it's crystal hughes you know i'm
02:29saying um donnell clayton and uh sierra angelia all-star cast yeah yeah hitters so um we excited
02:36man we we had this type of chemistry on camera together in which this was all all of our first
02:42time on camera together but the chemistry was like oh yeah you can tell they friends in real life
02:47you know what i'm saying so it was easy we was getting through those days long days though you
02:51know what i'm saying um 12 hours but it was a grind it was fun you know like i say
02:57because we we we feel
02:59good being around each other so that make the job a lot easier it's like we really was just hanging
03:03with our friends chilling with our friends so honestly it was so easy to just like get on camera
03:07and do us because we was really just doing us yeah yeah we was working and we filmed portion
03:12a portion of the um project at our actual house i was gonna ask that but i ain't wanna it

03:19yeah yeah the first three episodes is at our house yeah how did y'all feel about that was that
03:22a little
03:23bit too much showing there he didn't really want to do it i feel like honestly like if we're gonna

03:30spend ten thousand dollars on a house to use for these first three episodes we can just use our
03:37own house you know what i'm saying that's cutting a little piece a little bit of budget you know
03:41what i'm saying like and then everyone that we had like i said they're our friends in real life so
03:46it's not like people who haven't came over we had a small crew so it wasn't like we had 30

03:51people at our house you know the crew was like really small so to me it was people that we
03:55feel
03:55like we can trust at our house and i i think we we happy we did it i mean i
04:00am you happy that we
04:01did it now what y'all saying y'all picked y'all friends um like i guess y'all just
04:08like we're not
04:09gonna y'all already had them envision like these characters are gonna be played by these people
04:12for the most part it was still it was still a casting process we had other people you know that
04:17we were in talks with but um in my eyes i'm like man look yeah let's just get all of
04:22us on camera
04:23together yeah and in my head i felt the same like as writing it you know i'm writing stuff to
04:27this
04:27particular person you know what i'm saying so i i kind of feel like it was for them nice particularly
04:32so yeah yeah but we do have um you know other um guests we got jasmine renee in the show
04:38um she
04:39play a cop alongside um kiva and uh we got um flex girl flex shout out shout out to them
04:45man they
04:46they come everybody came to set and the energy with within everybody was like man let's work
04:52let's get this done you know what i'm saying so yeah that was i'm enjoying it was a 15 day
04:57shoot
04:57for this series six episode series so six okay was that intentional for it to be six episodes or it
05:02was just kind of like that was it was intentional okay for six because typically like independent
05:08filming we do like six episodes per season got you so it was it was intentional y'all play um
05:14from the
05:15trailer it looked like y'all a couple is that can i talk about okay so is that difficult playing
05:21like the love interest of a person that you actually in a relationship with because that's
05:25not how they are for real you see what i'm saying so it's like you have to put yourself in
05:30that
05:30character but also make it believable you know what i'm saying so people can relate to it is that
05:35difficult for y'all or was it uh it's not i think it's really easy playing alongside with james um
05:40i feel like even as the writer we can kind of write things as us a little bit you know
05:44what
05:45i'm saying like how we how we can actually be in real life but i don't think even when we're
05:49booked on other projects together it's kind of i think it's easier for me when i'm you know with
05:53him because i'm more like i'm so comfortable i can work alongside anyone but like with him it's
05:58like i can actually milk the character because i can do what i want to do ah gotcha yeah i

06:03she lying a little bit um no so last night we was filming we just got off set at like
06:08five and
06:09five this morning you know i'm saying but um y'all be working boy yeah we did we did a
06:15scene
06:15um together and i got loud i got in her face you know i'm saying and she obviously know i
06:23don't do
06:23that in real life so she smiled and about to laugh and getting out of character it was funny like
06:28you
06:28know him just like yelling at me in my face i'm like i'm like so you take me as a
06:32joke
06:32you know what i'm saying but um no it it's definitely fun man and we still learning so
06:39it's not like oh we got it you know i'm saying we know what's to come no because every role
06:43is
06:43different you know what i'm saying so um like i said we still growing we we learn from each other
06:48we help each other grow so um i think that's the biggest thing fire y'all started a production
06:53company is it jk or jakey jakey jakey film short for james and kiva right um why was that important
07:00to y'all to start a film production and what does that mean do y'all how's that what what
07:04does that
07:04do for actors man like how does why do actors need to start their own production company uh for me
07:08it
07:08was very important because we are like we on both sides we're actors we're also writer producers
07:13executive producers so having your actual film company is like okay you're doing it you can do
07:17these projects under your company your name it also like to me it meant a lot i feel like we
07:23can
07:23give other people opportunities and i love that like people tend and no shade to anybody because
07:28we use some of the same people we always use ourselves but i also want to give other people
07:32opportunities so any project under jakey films you're gonna see new faces people you never saw before
07:37because i believe in giving people opportunities and i feel like that's something that we can do
07:41having our own you know company yeah and also i mean i think it kind of helps us as actors
07:47as well
07:48because we can give ourselves whatever role we want to give us you know what i'm saying so
07:52um like if i want to play a pastor remember i told you that last time i'm gonna do it
07:56you know
07:57what i'm saying i think i think that'll be like um on the other end of the scale for me

08:03what i'm saying so um i'm definitely interested in uh giving that a shot so i think that having
08:08our own production company man it can go a long way i agree because people try to typecast you or
08:12they would think like oh this person can't do this like right me like since we had our own company
08:17i've been a lawyer i've been a teacher i'm a detective now you know i'm just making you
08:21whatever i want to be so that is definitely true how important it is to y'all to have that
08:25creative
08:26control and that freedom to be able to do these things as an independent company in this industry
08:30very important yeah you know what i'm saying because like you say we get typecasted you know
08:34i'm saying you'll see us in one lane playing the same role yeah you know i'm saying so um i
08:38think
08:39that's very important and another thing about us like i'm be very very like honest a lot of people
08:44that we work with before they only write a certain way they only write the same kind of movies the
08:50same kind of like it's it's like the same story like not the same story but it's the same theme
08:55you know yeah and with us we like outside the box like we don't write like oh sex scenes and
09:00we don't
09:00write just drama like i mean drama but not like just ghetto and cussing and all that like we try
09:05to
09:05like go a different route with ours so i think it's that's really like dope now james uh last time

09:11spoke man you talked about directing a little bit yes sir um with the new series are how heavily
09:18involved would you are in directing um is it all of the scenes or 90 or yeah well um we
09:24had don snipes
09:25directing and we let him kind of take the wheel on it you know i'm saying we really because it
09:30was so
09:30much and we are main characters and being leads you don't want to wear too many hats right that'll
09:35take away from something else you know what i'm saying that you're doing so um but because we
09:40wrote it sometimes you do got to step in just a little bit you know i'm saying like this division
09:45right here because not all the time that the uh director would understand it 100 percent so yeah
09:51you'll you'll definitely put your input in there yeah or they see it a different way sometimes like
09:54the director may read it and think you're going this route but it's like no i was going here but
09:58i do
09:58want to shout out to don snipes because you know one thing about him he's going to stay positive the
10:03whole time like on set we can have any kind of issues he's going to remain kind remain positive
10:08remain he's patient so i got to work with somebody that wasn't like that before is that well i mean
10:13not really okay but i don't think so but we have had you know times on set where people just
10:20can
10:20inspire out of control because this is going on that he keep us all like you know sane on set

10:25y'all let's get this done let's be positive so yeah i love that about him james you said some
10:30man in
10:31the uh you said i want to make sure i kind of quote it correctly this is now your typical
10:36relationship drama secrets that don't just hurt they detonate yeah brother explain that what the
10:42hell did that mean so so like you know how you have some secrets that that could be you know
10:47given
10:48to you or you find out about um and it'll hurt but not that much oh these secrets in this
10:54show
10:55they cut deep they cut deep where these come from y'all these like inspired by true stories
11:00we just make it up in our heads okay we literally sit at home you know i'm saying and go
11:05back and
11:05forth with our ideas and um sometimes we'll bump heads like nah i think that's i think that's whack
11:11you know i'm saying i think this gonna hit harder you know i'm saying i think that's good too
11:15like you want to bump heads you don't want to just be like oh yeah that'll work yeah you know

11:19that means you ain't putting your all into it gotcha so i think by us you know i'm saying like
11:23being both creative and bumping heads when it comes to that it's like oh yeah we want the best
11:28for this project you know i'm saying so um yeah the the issues and the secrets that we came up

11:33in this show is crazy you know i'm saying so and then everybody in the show got secrets ain't nobody
11:38safe you know what i'm saying nice that's fire that's i can't wait to see this makeva what's
11:43something you think people that you want people to take away from this uh series um i want people
11:49to just first like it's like a couple series of course but i want people to first of all love
11:55themselves and i want them to know like you don't have to go through certain things i want people to
12:00know that they should be open and honest because like it's so much stuff going on and it's like if
12:06people was just like honest with their partner you know what i'm saying like it could it could just
12:09did everything so honestly um loving yourself and yeah i think those are two things that i would
12:16want people to take all right couple more things real quick man um outside of detroit you guys get
12:23a lot of love from different cities man which cities do i think show y'all the most love um
12:27outside of
12:28this i'm gonna say chicago for me okay oh yeah chicago like they love me so bad in chicago and
12:34i love
12:34that for me i love chicago um i only go down there when i'm filming i get booked down there
12:39you know
12:39for projects but the people like on every platform i have my highest percentage of support says chicago
12:46on like facebook instagram snapchat chicago on every platform so i think that's so dope yeah i mean i i
12:53would say um the south man anywhere in the south man they love alabama you know what i'm saying um
13:00tennessee they've been asking us to come out to tennessee a lot um mississippi um so the south man
13:05the south love us i want to do say south carolina behind chicago south carolina particularly like i
13:12think they done booked me in almost every city in south carolina like that's like a second home like
13:17i done been there so bad like they bring me out there for any hosting special guests whatever and
13:22it pack out every time so i say chicago is like right behind i mean south carolina right nice nice

13:41um uh the premiere uh june 28th that's on my birthday happy early birthday to you and happy

13:51man is special not just because you know it's my birthday but it's also the debut um uh of the

13:58series from our uh production company so it's our first tv series under our production company man
14:03we haven't done a premiere together yet so this is special to us you know what i'm saying so get
